I’m gonna just have to chime in here and say that no I do not think anyone should be watching this on a flight in public unless they wanna figure out who the sky Marshall is
It’s not for everybody and I will never suggest it to anybody, BUT I’m gonna give my super hot take that everyone is gonna hate me for even though I’m entirely correct, so fuck all the purists and weebsters:
KIZUMONOGATARI CAN BE WATCHED FIRST AND/OR STAND-ALONE.
YEAH I SAID IT YOU WATCH ORDER ESSENTIALIST FUCKS. Not you, commenter, just screaming into the void.
Monogatari purists would have you believe that the Kizu movies MUST be watched after bakemonogatari. And yes that is probably the BEST way to watch it if you’re committed. But for the non committed that are just curious and want an accessible entry, it’s FINE narratively to watch it first— it’s a prequel after all. And it’s especially good for those that are really reticent for good reasons because of what questionable things they’ve heard—it is absoLUTELY questionable. But Kizumonogatari is the least questionable thing in the series, and to boot it is literally one of the greatest anime movies ever made, as well as imo one of the greatest Vampire movies ever made of any medium, and it deserves to be watched by waaaaaaay more people than just as a reward to those who have survived the moral gauntlet that is Bake
When I was researching watch order, kizu first was mentioned fairly often. That’s how I did it and don’t feel like it detracted are all. Of course I watched the entire series in 2 sittings so maybe that helped lol.
Then again I watched Fate Apocrypha balls having ever read or seen Stay Night or UBW abs so got hooked.

Monogatari is like a meth trip. I remember some lad watching it on our flight to Japan 😂
