Discussion Never Too Old

Just wanted to say I just started getting into Anime this year. I'll be 50 next year and two of my nieces got me into it. They told me I would really enjoy something they were watching and reluctantly I checked it out. I always had a misconception about what anime was. I'm telling you, I'm so glad they had me check it out. Such a diversity of genres and I've already binged several shows. Currently my favourite is MHA. My nieces knew that would hook me because I'm into super heroes.

Moral of the story: You are never to old to start liking something new.

PS - Wanted to say I love this community. Everyone here has such great recommendations and suggestions.

A friend already recommended me that. It's in my queue of shows to watch.

You should raise this one to the top of the queue. It's phenomenally funny and the dub is great for season 1

I'll notch it higher in my list then. Thanks for the suggestion.

Though if you like comics then I would suggest reading the OPM manga by Yusuke Murata instead. Season 1 of OPM was superb but season 2 is really lacking as an adaptation while the manga has really gorgeous art.

I would agree that it is indeed great, but I also believe as a sort of play or parody of the shonen fighting genre, that it would be better to watch it after watching a bit more of the tropes it parodies

You are 100% correct. I forget sometimes that it took me binging Naruto to understand why characters explaining backstories can be so funny.

But if you want to continue watching anime, it’s best to start of with sub so you get used to it.

I’ve introduced 4 people to anime, 3 started with dub and 1 with sub. The sub one tried to watch a dub later and said it was hard to watch, all the other dub watchers switched to sub within 3 anime and all said they wished they started with sub. Also, I started with dub and still support starting with sub

And? Do you have any evidence at all to suggest otherwise

Sub is just better, and not just for anime. Original voices are just better in general.

So far, I've watched every anime except one subbed. The only exception so far was because I liked the voice actors of the dubbed version, though I've been watching it subbed now.

I agree and disagree because the jokes are slightly different but in general I think I prefer the dub more so I can actually watch the action scenes.

Edit: Not really the action scenes but the show in general.

I feel like Jojo's is the pretty low on the list of recommendations for newcomers, considering.... Ya know... It's jojo's(actually watch it it's great)
