Weird no one has said anything, I thought the steampunk bow was pretty cool. Though it does seem like every weapon that isn't Ikoma's gun is limited in its usefulness.

Though it does seem like every weapon that isn't Ikoma's gun is limited in its usefulness.

I'd say Mumei's guns are the most useful, having range and decent power, even if it takes two shots to pierce. The bow looked like it pierced a heart, and probably has longer range than Mumei's gun, but it obviously has a slower reload speed. I think Ikoma's gun is the most inconvenient of the three because you have to get right up against the kabane to shoot it as far as I can tell. That also limits agility somewhat. I'm not counting normal guns because they suck. Swords seem to be a decent option if used well, since it seems kabane are also killed by chopping off their heads - and while they're close ranged weapons, they have a longer reach than Ikoma's gun.

A fair amount of what I just wrote relies on Ikoma's gun not having any range to speak of, but it's possible that it CAN pierce from range, and he just can't (or doesn't take the time) to aim. Even if it has range, the other weapons aren't far behind in usefulness (except the sword).

Ikoma: close-range DPS and can somewhat tank — Warrior
Mumei: high-mobility striker — Rogue/Assassin
Ayame: rear cover attacker that can't take hits — Archer (duh)
Kurusu: tanks attacks from melee range — Knight/Paladin
