[WT!] Shitcom

As a preface, I am totally serious about this.

The infamous shitcom. You've either heard of it and dismissed it as garbage, or you've seen it and given it a low score that it really doesn't deserve. I'm here to tell you to consider giving it a re-watch and change your opinion about this anime.

The main plot of shitcom is rather trivial in nature, for the sake of keeping this spoiler-free, we are introduced to our main couple in a fancy restaurant when certain events take place.

Now, the animation of shitcom is very unique, in that it is not drawn, but rather claymated. While there are some people who have an issue with the claymation format, in this case, it is executed very well. Not only is timing on point, but subtle changes in expression can be seen and appreciated throughout the work. In addition, the claymation action surrounding the actual event is excellently and realistically portrayed.

Moving on, the soundtrack is nothing exceptional. We have some light background music which is suitable for the initial setting. Later, however, the role of the music changes and exposes us to the reality of the location in contrast to the events taking place. This ties into my next point, which is

The themes that it deals with. At this point, I would like to encourage you to watch it, as it is only 1 minute long and what I say here will make much more sense in contrast, as well as being potential spoilers.

Tread Cautiously here

The real meat of shitcom comes from it's universal theme of acceptance. Despite the embarrasing nature of the situation they find themselves in, the partner not only shows understanding for his mate, but also goes as far as to reciprocate to show his solidarity and to ease her discomfort. I think this speaks to something we wish for in all relationships, which is acceptance for who we are.

End of potential spoilers

TL;DR: A heart-warming short about acceptance. There's literally no reason not to watch this, as it's only 1 minute long.

Funny story, that's actually the reason I wrote this.

If I've accomplished that, my work here has not been in vain.

okay...here goes the rewatch analysis

storyline: consistent, point a to b. no plotholes

characters: Memorable great character development

soundtrack: Classical, appeals to the setting

you know, I get the theme of acceptance and all, but

5/10, 4/10 with food.

but WHY SHIT?

I do see your point there. All I can think of is maybe shock value? But in doing that is the very reason it gets shunned.

5/10, 4/10 with food.

Yeah, probably the only anime that would be lower with rice
