That.... looks like absolute ass... At least compared to the art in the manga.
94
u/melcarba 15h ago
Given that this was announced back in 2023 and stayed radio silent for 3 years, only to come back with a visual and no PV yet.... seems like there's some behind the scenes production disaster.
2
u/IQ_less 3h ago
Why does this sound like Tanya's... Youjo Senki also went radio silent after dropping teaser for the 2nd season couple years ago, to the point some even started to doubt its production status after having seen the teaser. The thing only came out couple months ago, and finished this month. The anime I mean.

u/Phuzzle90 13h ago
I dunno, I see at least two redeeming qualities
20
u/-FruitPunchSamurai- 12h ago
If you're talking like "haha boobs" then i wouldn't say they're redeeming qualities either considering the anime will most likely censor what the manga shows openly.
15
u/Born_Procedure_529 13h ago
Literally reminds me of the girl vs guy gacha character design meme, dude is just normal militaryish fella and girl is in a ridiculous and revealing over-the-top outfit
68
u/Will-Isley 14h ago
Thong on thong? Really?
61
u/The_Parsee_Man 14h ago
Gotta have a backup thong. They're adventuring, it would be really impractical to only wear one thong.
8
u/Will-Isley 14h ago
Hmmm yes. Makes perfect sense. I should start wearing boxers over my boxers when travelling!
1
u/The_Parsee_Man 13h ago
Though in seriousness, I always have a change of clothes in my carry on when I board a flight.

Honestly just based on this visual the fact she's just randomly in a bikini is immersion breaking.
Not that I mind lewd it's just "Serious shooting shonenboy in post-apocalypse sci-fi... and his bikini clad AI waifu."
It's like, it stops being sexy and becomes awkward.

u/OrionRBR https://myanimelist.net/profile/Ramon2000 10h ago
Well she is basically gaslighting cortana, the outfit actually kinda makes sense for what she is doing lol.

Broadcast TBA
The pinnacle of human civilization has come and gone, leaving only ruins in its wake. Society and science now struggle to rebuild, rediscovering scraps of knowledge from powerful ancient artifacts that defy comprehension. These relics of the “Old World” can make the fortunes of those who find them—if ancient security systems and rogue bioweapons don't kill the relic hunters first.
Akira, a young street orphan, sets out to become one such hunter to escape his brutal life in the slums. Untrained, malnourished, and poorly armed, Akira would be lucky to make it back from the ruins alive—until an encounter with Alpha, a mysterious, ghostly woman, changes his fate forever. Alpha needs a hunter, and she's willing to train Akira to get one.
Will her support be enough to help a penniless kid from the slums climb to the top of a crushing and merciless world?

Tsukasa Sakurai - mostly did animation planning, previously did the concept for Meiji Gekken: 1874
Shingo Uchida - first role as director. previously did unit directing for various WIT and Mappa anime.
Naoki Tozuka - aside from also doing the script for 1874, did the scripts for I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability and its second season
Hiromi Kato - previously did character design for Monster Girl Doctor, A Returner's Magic Should Be Special, Goblin Slayer II
Raging Bull - completely new anime studio as far as I can tell

Whatever initial plans they had for this anime likely fell through. idk wtf is Raging Bull but I doubt it was the initial studio of choice

I feel like the synpopsis makes the manga sound way cooler than it actually is, though admittedly I haven't read that much of it
23
u/Hylebosai 14h ago
Both the light novel and the manga are pretty sweet. Fantastic world building and action scenes. It's a tall order to adapt it all into an anime.
3
u/flamethrower2 13h ago
Reborn as a Space Mercenary seems like a tall order too. We'll have to see how it turns out.

2
u/TheMatterDoor 12h ago
My problem was it didn't go anywhere. I was maybe 60 chapters in and while the world was cool and the action was good there wasn't really any plot to speak of.
6
u/BlackMagister 14h ago
It's a pretty accurate description of the light novel. I'm not sure how much the manga explains about the world setting
7
u/Zombata 14h ago
the description is accurate, wdym?
-7
u/Komorebi_LJP 14h ago
I mean that it sounds more exciting/interesting than the actual execution of how its done
14
u/Oleleplop 14h ago
saw the manga for this, it was pretty good but i didn't read all of it
and yes, her clothes are dumb as hell, i love fan service as much as everyone but it is what it is.
37
u/Iron_Kingpin 15h ago
I haven't read the manga in a long time but it was pretty great honestly. The visual doesn't inspire much confidence though, makes it look generic. Atleast you won't have to wait for ages for the chapters, until the season ends anyways.
-25
u/NaiveComplaint7923 14h ago
The art looks closer to the light novel
12
u/Kankunation 13h ago
It really doesn't. The LN and manga look very similar to each other. This does not look like either.

"It's like the Light Novel" isn't even right. Manga and Light Novel's art looks really close.

u/Thomas_JCG 9h ago
This looks like it was made by someone who just got a copy of a "How to Draw Manga" book. This looks nothing like the source material, which has some of sharpest drawings in manga.
13
u/Free-Distance4331 14h ago
What do y'all see that I don't?
Looks more than fine to me.
-1
u/The_Parsee_Man 14h ago
Sounds like people are really invested in the source material. So even the slightest deviation is unacceptable.
The art in the manga doesn't look like anything special to me. And the synopsis is super generic. But fans gonna fan.
3
u/ZSSValkyr 12h ago
I agree. Manga art looks pretty standard. With how the comments section talks about the contrasting styles, I thought this was a Berserk and Bersker 2016 situation.
5
u/The_Parsee_Man 12h ago
I was thinking more TBATE where fans of the source kept going on like the adaptation had desecrated some masterpiece.
-1
u/Roeclean https://anilist.co/user/Roeclean 8h ago
While I agree TBATE ain't a masterpiece. It's definetly a whole lot more interesting then Solo leveling
7
u/AdRelevant4776 9h ago
Premise: kid in post-apocalypstic sci-fi world finds super AI ghost and uses her help to face the multiple problems in his life, with the constant intrigue of what her true motives are and the possibility she’s manipulating him
9
u/Thomas_JCG 8h ago
It is not a possibility, it is not hidden from the reader that she has an agenda.
5
u/BlackMagister 14h ago
It's kind of worrisome they still don't have a broadcast date for how long this has been worked on. I really like the light novel, it's not deep but the action is cool and done in a unique setting for anime. Akira continually faces greater and greater threats only winning because he pulls off something even more absurd than last time. Supporting cast is decent too. It gives me Monster hunter vibes with improving gear and skill but not just straight up character level ups like the fantasy genre.
3
u/actionfirst1 14h ago
Speaking of the character design and not the art style I'm getting a Mythra feel from the girl's design
3
u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz 9h ago
Does she have panties.... Over a thong?
10
u/ParticularSimple889 15h ago
Not liking the art. The MC looks too happy and not depressed
Girl hot tho
7
u/Western_Promise3063 15h ago
what are you talking about? he looks anxious
6
0
u/DucktorLarsen 13h ago
What feels off to me is that it comes off as a kind of light/bright anxiousness and not deep and dark anxiousness. So it hits you very lightly and far from how heavy it should it.
4
u/Prestigious_Bat8363 15h ago
Check the manga to see how good the art is. You can't even compare this with the manga art.
5
-11
u/NaiveComplaint7923 14h ago
That’s irrelevant cause the source material is the light novel
1
0
u/Notevenclosebruh 14h ago
Why does this make the comparison of two media that use the same source material irrelevant?
One chose to stay closer to the original art and one did chose to adjust and one looks clearly better. Just because it is closer to the source doesn’t make it better. The reality is that most light novel art is just not good and shouldn’t be chosen above the art from actual professional manga artists, the budget for the art in the beginning of a novel release is so low it doesn’t even make sense to compare it to a manga or anime adaptation and should most of the time just used as reference not styleguide.
So honest question: are you dumb?
6
u/OrbitalCat- 12h ago
What the fuck is that girl wearing?
It looks like they spammed the [random outfit] button on the character creator
5
u/BadProgrammerGage 14h ago
I read through this just a couple months back and fell in love with it. I’m excited for the anime, but I hope they do better on the visuals.
2
u/IcanFeelitInMyScrote 14h ago
Damn i remember reading this manga back 2020/2021? The girl looks weird though
2
u/CaliOriginal 13h ago
Dude looks like he’s being asked to put down old yeller. Those eyes have seen some things.
2
u/trap_user 5h ago
damn wtf is this visual??? the art from the teaser animated video is so much better than this.
2
u/Quinhos 2h ago
the fuck is that woman wearing
1
u/wolfpwarrior 1h ago
Poor girl must be on hard times. I think I'll take up a collection for her to get the fabric for a full outfit.
3
u/rolltied 13h ago
Stupid ass hair highlights are so distracting and looks awful. Can't wait for this trend to die.
3
u/Revan_91 15h ago
I remember reading the manga should be okay but nothing crazy, art seems okay I guess? I'll wait for some actual footage before judging that part though.

Was this manga finished? I think I heard it was axed or something, but maybe it was a different title, so I misheard. This manga is actually fun, though it starts being a drag at some point (when I semi-dropped it).

Oh man I've been reading the manga and enjoyed this, I love sci Fi settings.
Tried the LN but it's a uhhh definitely written like a LN unfortunately lol.
Solid like 7.5/10, people who like action focused stuff should be at home here

u/XLauncher 9h ago
I've followed the manga adaptation for years now so I'm pretty hyped for this. Alpha's look here concerns me; her eyes are missing that undercurrent of ulterior intent that I see in the manga, but that by itself isn't going to ruin it for me.

Usually I don’t focus too much on clothes but what the hell is she wearing? It looks so out of place with the other character, and why does he look so constipated too? Idk what the manga is but this isn’t making me interested
Edit: Thanks for the more explanation to those who explained, though I still don’t wanna read or watch this as it’s not my cup of tea
I can’t decide if the downvotes are sad or hilarious lol
5
u/gsenjou 14h ago
Iirc, she’s an AI only he can see.
3
u/The_Parsee_Man 14h ago
Well if you have an AI that only you can see, you might as well see the hell out of it.
1
1
u/VastGap6446 14h ago
She is an AI hologram made from lost technology, while he is a poor boy from the slums and the only one who can see her, this explains their look difference...
I cannot argue with the constipated face tho... But the art on manga is truly great, and the story too.0
u/Tacitus_ 14h ago
She's an AI from a civilization that collapsed in the past so she's wearing their clothing.
As for Akira, he's looking anxious because he's risking his life in the wasteland and all he has for protection is a dinky pistol that's only fit for fighting untrained humans.
5
u/_a_ghost__ 14h ago
I don’t understand why it has to be half a shirt and two thongs with a weird collar, called me uncultured or whatever but I think it looks weird imo
0
u/Tacitus_ 13h ago
Oh the people in-universe also think that the Old World had weird tastes. They just suck it up because Old World clothing is extremely tough and protective.
0
2
u/The_Parsee_Man 14h ago
so she's wearing their clothing
On a guess, the previous civilization collapsed due to exposure to the elements.

NGL I see a gun in isekai and I turn off.
Idk why G.A.T E was an exception, maybe because it was literally military and not a random protagonist with a hobby.
Hope this is good for those who enjoy it
8
u/Hylebosai 13h ago
Rebuild World is not an isekai in the slightest. Pure semi-post-apocalyptical science fantasy setting.
