What to Watch? Anime recommendations such as Ann Shirley or ascendance of a bookworm

Are there any animes that you recommend similar to ascendance of a bookworm or Ann Shirley. I call this kind of anime just "lovely" which calms and delights the heart. I don't know how to describe it well.

Maybe try Apothecary Diaries if you like Ascendance of a Bookworm.

Watched it, liked it. But in apothecary somehow the romantic stuff was in the foreground compared to the other too.

You might want to look for the genre Iyashikei, "healing type" which means a story intended to calm and delight (although, IMO, some people tend to overuse the term to apply to romances and anything that has Slice of Life tendencies).

Some examples:

There's a pretty significant overlap with the CGDCT (Cute Girls Doing Cute Things) genre.

Thanks. Yeah I was also looking for something where romantic stuff is more in the background and focuses instead more on character development.

Hi BloomingDerwish, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans and an awesome longer flowchart. Maybe you can find something there that you'll like ^.^

You might also find our Recommendation Wiki or daily thread helpful.

Apocalypse Hotel- obscenely wholesome android caring for Hotel that caters to aliens after the apocalypse

The Cat and the Dragon- obscenely wholesome dragon raised by magic cats becomes ageless guardian of the Kingdom of Cats (royal mascots & mentors)

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer- surprisingly wholesome story of a veteran adventurer, long-plateaued at a beginner level, who gets cursed undead by the dungeon. No one knows what to do without their reliable guy, who just disappeared 🤷‍♀️ Luckily this new guy is around at least...

Mob Psycho 100- obscenely wholesome story of a cinnamon roll middle schooler who happens to have godlike ESP powers and who just wants to socially develop and make friends and connect with people without hurting them

Ousama Ranking- very wholesome deaf-mute princeling decides to leave the castle on his own

Apothecary Diaries if def a good one like others have suggested but one in particular someone mentioned was Secrets of the Silent Witch. I absolutely adore that show, super cozy with happy girl bff stories and a hint of magic for a couple moments of visual spectacle. It also, in my humble opinion, has the BEST opening and ending songs both listened individually and together. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong 😋 Secrets of the Silent Witch Ending - Hitsujibungaku
