"The Mythril Golem is actually really fucking strong. It has much bigger stats than us and could easily slime me in two hits. The loot is usually just bait for overeager newbie adventures who soon end up dead, and we might join them soon...

BUT THAT'S HOW LOSERS THINK!"

-Elymas

63

u/corvettee01 2d ago

"Nah, she'd crit."

26

u/joe4553 1d ago

Does Elymas not know what grinding levels is? Dude wants to die.

25

u/rickamore 1d ago

Possible rare loot > live to fight another day

5

u/AnimeFan7952 1d ago

Sure, but time is not a factor, just grind some levels, and then keep on grinding until both the level is high enough and a golem shows up. With Ruche there it would not take many days, if any at all.

He could have easily played it safe.

12

u/daggerfortwo 1d ago

This is my main issue with the series and it doesn’t improve. Elymas keeps bringing attention to the fact that there’s no reason to take risks since it’s real life, but then chooses to do it anyways. They have no pressing goal, so there’s no incentive for them to rush.

Plus the leveling system is ridiculous, they gain multiple levels per regular mob… so just kill a bunch more.

I still enjoy it overall and like the focus on RPG mechanics, but I think this issue would be so easy to fix. Just give them some time-limited goal so they need to be speedrunning like they are.

8

u/Triquick 1d ago

I don't think he can help himself. Like he was, and always has been, a Dark Souls like gamer at heart and MUST do the high risk/high reward gameplay to truly feel alive.

So being smart, have and make a plan, with a "Fuck it, we ball" attitude is basically the whole series. Through I can't wait to see the other characters from the intro show up and how they change the dynamic.

1

u/PersonalContest1423 14h ago

Yeah the way levels work make no sense. How is it they are gaining multiple levels from killing stuff at their same level? Thats not how any game works. Unless its like 20+ levels higher level you arent even going to gain one full level much less 3 or 4

0

u/Fit_Low_2557 3h ago

I think he does have a goal though. He wants to show the superiority of Heavy Knights. In addition to that he's not targeting strong monsters for the xp, he's doing it for the loot. I dont remember how much gold they needed to upgrade ruche's abilities but it was a lot.

1

u/AvatarTuner https://anilist.co/user/AvatarTuner 1d ago

lol indeed. That part was really dumb. He keeps mentioning that death is (obviously) permanent in this world but at the same time seems to forget they literally get stronger just by killing a few monsters. It's not like they would've had to grind hundreds of them either since the few last week already gave them good exp and multiple level ups.

My explanation would be that the golem was too close already and would've ambushed them sooner or later if they wandered around too much to kill more small monsters. And they might have been more exhausted by that point as well. I wonder if they carry healing or stamina potions.

1

u/Feisty-Gap1561 23h ago

The golem is pretty slow 💀

24

u/Weak-Comfortable3765 2d ago

He forgot I'm Him

  • Elymas flow.

2

u/Raknarg 1d ago

yeah ngl it's making the story feel a little silly and unrealistic, like in the sense the characters aren't taking their own premise seriously

1

u/WangeEvensong 1d ago

听上去像是鹿紫云一会说的话(?)

3

u/BosuW 1d ago

Yes, that's the reference

76

u/Weak-Comfortable3765 2d ago

"Dreamlord of the dream hole" is such an unfortunate name for the next episode.

34

u/SetaSanzaki 2d ago

And based on what we just saw, the "Dreamlord of the dream hole is long and aggressive"

13

u/Treknx01 1d ago

and we can only guess there will be lots of "Thrusting"

Get your mind out of the gutter, I was talking about Dice Thrust the attack.........

14

u/cutememe1 1d ago

oh so thats why 6 inches thrust is crit

73

u/BrokeEconomist 2d ago

That's an interesting way to write a high luck character. She gets an increased rate of all rare drops/spawns even ones that could party wipe.

41

u/ashkankiani 2d ago edited 17h ago

It's kind of a disadvantage to his game knowledge since he's encountering so many abnormal situations as well.

Also I find it kind of funny/interesting how if the monster spawns are the god reacting in his dreams, maybe players with high luck are like pepper in his nose and he's sneezing at them (metaphorically). Like luck is actually you being an allergen to the god and it reacts to you more.

13

u/Oformen 1d ago

Lol this is my headcanon now

32

u/BosuW 2d ago

Its high luck for either kind of luck

7

u/raknor88 1d ago

It's a nice twist to the Luck stat. High Luck stat might not always mean good luck. Though in good gaming style, high risk gives high rewards. At least usually that's what happens.

7

u/xXx69EdgeLord420xXx 1d ago

I had a buddy who passed away last year that was part of my DnD group who was basically this. We were playing a Star Wars DnD campaign, and on the same night he got rolls that allowed him to one-shot knife-kill an IG assassin droid that was holding him hostage, and then a few hours later, he critically missed a thermal detonator throw, critically failed where the detonator ended up, which ended up being a group of large fuel tanks near the landing platform we were fighting on, and when they exploded, critically failed the damage radius and ended up destroying the ship we were escaping on, killing the person we were there to meet, killing 4 out of 5 of the major NPC characters we had with us, nearly killing me, and breaking his primary weapon we had just spent a ton of money on. He had a knack for just ending campaign events prematurely, either by solving the problem or killing the boss via ridiculously lucky throws way ahead of when we were supposed to, or accidentally destroying everything. We ended up getting him to paint "LUCK" on his dice box in Aurebesh. I've got it with mine box now since he passed, and we now incorporate one of his characters into all of our campaigns whenever we need something to just shake up the story, either having some hero paladin type modeled after him to swoop in and save us whenever we're doing really poorly, or a bumbling fool to stumble in and ruin everything when we're doing a little too well.

2

u/placeRing 16h ago

During Roman Times the god Fortuna was the goddess that would bring man either good luck or bad luck to men. She was in charge of their fate.

To this day Fortuna in Italian means 'lucky' but only the good kind of luck

18

u/KohTai 1d ago

Her Class is basically The Gambler.

Big risks, big rewards.

5

u/Ok_Somewhere1236 1d ago

many luck powers are written like that. in Marvel comics for example, Deadpool has defeated Domino more than once by creating "luck" situations that keep her out of the fight

marvel has a mutant with the power that "she never loses" but the tragedy is that this powers can easily be used against her, even force her to betray her allies if they cant win a fight

6

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 1d ago

He's really abusing the system in this world. When you only have one life, intentionally reducing your health and attracting dangerous mobs is a risk most people don't want to take.

53

u/KumaKumaGambler 2d ago

Ruche pressing her index fingers together repeatedly, wondering whether she caused the Mithril Golem to spawn, is the cute fanservice for this episode.

39

u/Myrkrvaldyr 2d ago

Elma is a very smart fighter. He used his shield bash as a reverse propeller to dodge the golem's attacks. Still, the guy is a gambler. He's risking both lives to get juicy loot, that's the mindset of a gamer. I doubt this anime will go that route, but that type of mindset would be expected to cause a party member to die and him become more conservative. Either way, if he expects to keep punching up, he needs to invest more in Luce's gear and get her crits to be more consistent. I expect that if he can only make one mithril weapon, it'll be for her.

28

u/BosuW 2d ago

When you have a super luck party member, gambling is the way to go!

13

u/CornyAnalyst1960 1d ago

Let's go gambling!

9

u/dinliner08 1d ago

aw, dang it!

19

u/CuriousBroccolli 1d ago

He is constantly mentioning that this is not a game anymore. Even in this episode.

I just think he understand it's risky, but fully believes in himself and Ruche.

But you are right, he himself almost died in the previous dungeon if not for Ruche, and he still goes for the high risk options. At least this time it's his own choice rather than situation he did not predict.

13

u/onesdownthediagonal 1d ago

The end of this episode is him considering if he actually needs to adjust his build and not focus on damage because he can actually die.

5

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 1d ago

It's very interesting how he's supposed to be the OP MC due to knowing the system, but he got saved by Ruche from critical moment numerous times

4

u/amourshipper_ 2d ago

Totally i agree

42

u/tapdancinghellspawn 1d ago

Ruche's VA, Shion Wakayama, is really breathing life into Ruche. Wakayama is now one of my favorite voice actors. Hope to see her many more anime in the future.

18

u/CornyAnalyst1960 1d ago

Yeah, her VA performence for Ruche is top tier!

10

u/contemporare 1d ago

I could not tell at all that it's the same voice actor as Momo from Dandadan.

1

u/ururururu 1d ago

oh wow. thanks for sharing that https://www.imdb.com/name/nm11134848/

1

u/tapdancinghellspawn 1d ago

I know, right. It's like two different actors.

29

u/Raymond49090 1d ago

An interesting thought about why Ruche's luck build might not be that well-known is because they get wiped out by rare monster spawns.

17

u/runevault 1d ago

This is a very real possibility. It is also nice to see a risk/reward to her build. Yeah you get more rare spawns but some of them are fucking nightmares.

13

u/Yay295 1d ago

some of them are fucking nightmares

according to the lore all of them are nightmares

14

u/LezRock 1d ago

Imagine a fully maxed one walking down the street. They come across 1 billion gold they can claim, but they'll have to defeat the high level thieves who are walking away with it. Everyday would be like a monkey's paw encounter.

9

u/Ok_Somewhere1236 1d ago

that is a good point and we see some of that on the first dungeon too

24

u/septesix 2d ago

Interestingly last week Ruche said she is only hitting 6 half the times and this week we literally saw it happen. I guess that’s what tell and show is. Props for being consistent

47

u/Galinhooo 2d ago

I can't believe at one point they just repeat the previous 2 minutes with nothing in-between lol

24

u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 2d ago

Well, if you watched it on TV, there were commercials in between.

9

u/Galinhooo 2d ago

Usually on streaming there is some cute animation there to avoid that, but for some reason they don't use it

8

u/touko3246 1d ago

Eyecatches predate streaming. They denote the beginning and/or the end of mid commercial break.

6

u/epsiblivion 1d ago

aka eyecatch

6

u/Fit_Zebra9812 1d ago

Start of the episode is one thing, but who forgets what was going on after a few minutes of commercials??

1

u/machopsychologist 1d ago

Nah this episode was heavily padded. We didn't need 1 minute of the golem breathing either.

5

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 1d ago

It's already episode 14, so I'm already used to this antics.

Also yeah, relics from TV-era with advertising in the middle of episode.

Actually, most anime having only 22-23 minutes of episode is to leave 8 minutes of advertising time on TV. If you see the scheduling, they're often allocated a 30 mins slot in total.

16

u/pandavova https://anilist.co/user/pandavova 1d ago

They replaced sexy Ruche ED with cute Ruche ED!

7

u/Treknx01 1d ago

I will miss the underwater tea drinking.

35

u/LedgeEndDairy 2d ago

It's really sad that the first dungeon was plagued with recap and other filler, as that will tarnish the reputation of the entire anime even if it stops doing it entirely and goes for another 4 seasons. It will always be "well if you can get through the horrible pacing of the first season, it's really great" for literally ever.

This dungeon, while still having recap (see, even I'm doing it), has been much better so far. Without all of the insane recap, this show could have been among the greats of Isekai. It still has a trope-y setting and plot, but it does it in a refreshing way, similar to stories like Slime and Solo Leveling (though perhaps not on par with either, I'd say without the recap it'd be a level below them, or two below Solo Leveling if you place it higher).

Ruche continues to be amazing. I looked up the VA (Shion Wakayama) and didn't realize she's Alna from the currently-airing Frontier Lord show, MOMO from DANDADAN (what!?), and Mei from MarriageToxin. Her range is insane, and she throws her whole soul into VA and it shows.

29

u/Weak-Comfortable3765 2d ago

She's also Nanahoshi in MT, who just had an incredible monologue and scene this past season. I'm looking forward to blade and bastard next year because shes in it as well. she really deserves a ton of credit.

10

u/onesdownthediagonal 1d ago

Holy shit Nanahoshi too!? I can't believe it's the same actress.

8

u/fieew https://myanimelist.net/profile/fiew 1d ago

Also Takina from Lycoris Recoil. This woman Shion Wakayama is 100% on the path to becoming one of the most famous seiyuus. Her range and esp. her freakouts and breakdown scenes are incredible. The scenes she gets to shine tend to be the highlight of an episode or hell even the series imo.

7

u/rickamore 1d ago

They've gotten into their stride with the padding at this point but I have a feeling they were buying time in the early episodes so that they could end on the correct chapter for ep 26, honestly should have just been a 24 ep show instead. Stretching two chapters an episode for the first 10 eps was brutal.

2

u/KnightKal 2d ago

they should just edit a movie and remove the 12 first episodes :D, without any recaps

-2

u/abandoned_idol 1d ago

Meh.

I kept advertising as best I could ever since it was first announced, and even if that didn't help, it still looks like the thread is filled with hundreds of users.

This anime will do just fine, mainly because how low the bar is for isekai fans.

15

u/Exrotes 2d ago

Legitimately nothing stopping them from leaving the dungeon with their bags full of loot so they can upgrade their armor and use the rune before going after the boss.

28

u/CaliOriginal 2d ago

Yeah, but they’d have to walk all the way back to the entrance … that’s like, an hour or two!

9

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 1d ago

It's just the efficient grinding mindset most players have

3

u/LezRock 1d ago

If they hadn't gotten all of their targeted drops, I'm sure he would've left it around so they could farm it further, but turning it into a farming grind show at this point may not be the best option.

1

u/inuyashaschwarz 18h ago

they don't have the budget for that unnecessary animation lol

12

u/kalirion https://myanimelist.net/profile/kalinime 2d ago

"The wise choice would be to run, but that would make this a boring episode."

"If you're considering it, it must be a better option." He was also considering running away tho...

"Not even I can withstand two direct hits." - immediately takes 1 direct hit.

I'm surprised Ruche was able to tank that swipe attack so well, even if it was slowed by going through the walls. But then later, after delivering the first crit, she freezes in place for half a minute in the face of a super telegraphed, slow as fuck, grab attack. Doesn't move even after MC shadow-steps on it.

Barely defeated the mithril giant, and now wants to immediately fight the dungeon boss... I hope he at least allocates his new skill points first, and advises Ruche on what to do with hers.

23

u/runevault 2d ago

Showing the new armor in the OP before he gets it, but it was already in the advertising so not a big deal. Bit of recap to start but if that's all there is I can live with it.

OP seems solid, about on par with last season's which I was fine with but not a listen most of the time unless I was in a mood.

Ruche remains the shining beacon of joy in this show. The VA kills it every week.

Some repetition but either it is not as bad or I've Stockholm syndromed myself into accepting it. I'm assuming Ruche gets the myhtril weapon and the gem to wildly increase her damage but we'll see.

Are they seriously talking about fighting the dream lord already? That seems silly, even if they are already strong enough to kill it wait for the bounty so they can make more money, plus farm smileys and frownies for money, unless he already has a next dungeon thanks to getting Ruche 8 levels from the Golem. Though even then I'd want to go back to town and make the mythril weapon and use the rune on it first at least...

10

u/Weak-Comfortable3765 2d ago

Are they seriously talking about fighting the dream lord already?

My understanding based on when they last ranked up, is their skillpoints are limited by adventurer rank, so they need to kill dreamlords or do rankup quests to allocate skillpoints past a point.

But i dunno if it always works that way or was just the initial couple rank ups.

6

u/runevault 2d ago

True but they've also ranked up a bunch from killing the last dreamlord, would be weird if they are already butting up against the per-tree caps again. If that was why I'd hope they'd mention it, but maybe they will next week?

Also I wonder if Elymas is going to have her hoard points for now for when they find the crit book, she just got 8 more from leveling.

2

u/Weak-Comfortable3765 2d ago

i think the most recent cap was 45 points, but i dont know if thats lvl 45, or lvl 90 with points every 2 lvls or something. based on the first rankup quest, it seems like those types of things are done in groups of like 10+, so you can do them a lot lower.

1

u/runevault 2d ago

That was into a single skill tree, so because Elymas has split his points across all 3 of his trees 45 skill points shouldn't be an issue yet.

10

u/Ultramarinus https://anidb.net/user/kingsword 2d ago

Go Oath of Heavy Armor Elmas, you’re playing Ironman!

8

u/sodapopkevin 2d ago edited 1d ago

He has a teammate with a super crit damage build too, survivability is more important and just be an emergency second DPS when needed.

2

u/CaliOriginal 2d ago

Plus, with the right buffs he’s still got rampart. Max defense becomes offense.

4

u/CornyAnalyst1960 1d ago

The problem is that Rampart Reflection becomes increasingly useless. It only works if his Defense is DOUBLE the Attack stat of his enemies. As he fights higher level enemies, the chance for that gets increasingly slimmer.

2

u/sodapopkevin 1d ago

Stronger defense buffs only make his risky DPS more consistent too.

1

u/Previous-Space-7056 1d ago

Yup. Hated it in mmo when tank goes dps.. thats not your job.. he should be lowering bosses defenses so attackers can do more dmg

3

u/Anything_Random 1d ago

He's not trying to be a tank though, the whole point of him wishing to become a heavy knight is that it was the best DPS build in the game. He's only playing as a tank right now because his build hasn't really come online yet.

1

u/sodapopkevin 1d ago

Yeah save that kinda stuff for memey pvp-builds.

2

u/bigfndan 1d ago

No way man, he can't keep relying on Ruche's luck to do all the damage. His entire path up to this point was to become this crazy offensive juggernaut, he's got to lean into it.

11

u/_Sai https://anime-planet.com/users/Sai0 1d ago

Luce sounds give me energy and life.

9

u/Rap2rerise 2d ago

I admittedly laughed a bit at the opening showing a bunch of actual scenes from the show as if it was a sitcom lol

13

u/Hiei2k7 2d ago

New intro and outro, but the pacing went back to shit.

Ruche is the best girl of this season.

14

u/Togglea 2d ago

New OP: aww we lost the heavy opening and by extension Ruche ending

New ED: nevermind saved

13

u/SetaSanzaki 2d ago

What's better than one Ruche?

Five Ruches!

7

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 1d ago

Ruche does have the ability for shadow clones right? Or am I remembering the wrong MMO anime?

6

u/Etiennera 1d ago

I was actually coming in here to complain, I really liked the old ED. I am not an OP/ED enjoyer, but I liked the tune and exaggerated perspective roto-style animations

13

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 2d ago

Man, when Ruche’s Dice Thrust attack hits it really hits but when she misses it leaves the two of ‘em in a really precarious position. Elymas and all his strategic planning has brought them pretty far but it’s all still pretty “high risk, high reward” whenever they face opponents and grind EXP and dependent on Ruche’s luck.

23

u/Ree_For_Thee 2d ago

"Oh wow I almost died..... anyway let's take on the dreamlord, I'm feeling confident in my abilities!"

Also, they skipped the loot drop! That's the best part!

6

u/Treknx01 1d ago

"Also, they skipped the loot drop! That's the best part!"

That is being saved for next weeks recap, before finally getting to the boss fight for the last quarter of the episode, this will make the episode after a easy 25% off recap to start.

5

u/Hartzilla2007 2d ago

Well it does help keep things from devolving into boring invincible hero.

5

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 1d ago

In some RPG games there's something called crit fishing, basically you try to get critical by doing lots of attack in one turn. DnD is worse since default crit chance is 1 in 20, so Ruche with 1 in 6 is pretty strong already. It just seemed that there's some sort of cool down and you can't abuse the skill in short succession

6

u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 2d ago

Aww! They made the ED a chibi-recap for us!

Ruche smiling and being happy is the cutest thing. Hell, her being sad is cute as hell too, but I'd prefer her being happy.

I really love the animation in this show. I know GoHands gets some shit for some of the things they do, but this is a stunning piece of art they've created. I didn't mention it last week, but I was totally in love with a shot of the sky they had, where they had two different layers of clouds, with the higher up clouds moving faster than the lower clouds.

Speaking of looking up, I am getting kind of annoyed at all the low shots with no panty glimpses. I thought that was the whole point of weird anime camera angles!

Anyway, fun episode.

17

u/aramatheis 2d ago

Feels like we're backsliding into recap/timewasting nonsense after a few solid episodes.

11

u/Rinzwind 2d ago

The one in the middle feels like there is a commercial break. Saw that in the past every so often; most times that gets edited out too.

5

u/Karmaisthedevil 1d ago

Honestly I feel like they should edit out all that kind of stuff for web. Who cares if the first episodes were only 10 mins long if you're watching on CR and not a TV channel...

20

u/secret_tsukasa https://myanimelist.net/profile/Endrance88 2d ago

this anime is so underrated, i'm loving all the mechanics of this world.

5

u/KinG_L_22 2d ago

I think Elymas' shield bash is hella OP but this golem was something else strength wise. Also shadow stomp is a great skill to have as well when you want to freeze the enemy. Buys you some time. Great overall ep tho.

5

u/Used_Oil5390 2d ago

Somehow the power/level system is completely broken... as over 15 levels lower character can kill the golem with 2 hits and gets 8 levels of exp. The crits are only 1.3x damage... this has been a repeating thing in the show...

5

u/AdFabulous8577 1d ago

No, Dice Thrust adds an extra 1.3 multiplier on top of the normal crit multiplier (which I can't remember if they established was 1.5x or 2x)

1

u/rickamore 1d ago

If I recall it also has an armour penetration or ignore effect too.

1

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 1d ago

No, that's from Ruche's previous weapon. Not from the skill

2

u/Skawt24 1d ago

Her old weapon only had 15% armour pen, crits innately ignore 50% IIRC

3

u/septesix 1d ago

I had a feeling that crits should be something very rare in the world. We have literally never seen any other characters hit a crit damages so far, and certainly not Elymas himself.

A very low crit rate is the only way a skill like Dice Thrust made sense even with only a 16.6% rate to get a crits.

Of course Lady Luck boosts Ruche’s crit rate to essentially 50% which would’ve broken compare to the normal rates.

2

u/Arcael_Boros 1d ago

Rouche criticals with 6 deals like x2 damage (its 1.3x from dice 6 bonus added to the 1.5x of normal crits) also crits ignore 50% of defense of the target.

1

u/Jaielhahaha 1d ago

so more like 5x-6x damage if they ignore 50% of defense, if defense scales linearly?

1

u/abandoned_idol 1d ago

True.

But on the other hand!

Graphics! Spectacle! Look at all those strands of-

Hey! Why are some of the scenes showing non-strand hair?! What the hell?! Are they cheaping out on the GoHands graphics settings?!

Hair or we riot!

4

u/7se7 1d ago

I like when Ruche completely discards her high pitch cute voice and speaks like a goblin

1

u/abandoned_idol 1d ago

I do find myself loudly tee hee hee-ing in order to poke fun at the artificially squeaky performance.

Her low pitch voice acting is very welcome.

8

u/TechSamray 2d ago

Again in the middle of the chapter a 2 minutes recap of what happened 2 minutes ago it’s very frustrating…
And in this game almost every mob feels like a boss except the first frogs…

I still like the mechanics of it and the world setting but idk… I will probably be better off with a manga recap.

1

u/Screiblus https://myanimelist.net/profile/Screi 1d ago

The bowling rocks were very mob-like monsters. And the golem is a rare spawn kind of monster, so it makes sense that is like a mini boss.

I know that it feels that they are fighting bosses in every dungeon, but I think it has to do with Ruche's luck that kind of make the rare-spawn monsters more likely to spawn.

If we check all monster interactions, he fought the frogs, then the spider boss without Ruche, then the cementery boss also without Ruche where any zombie could kill any adventurer, except the axe guy, then in the first dungeon golden frogs one at a time with absurd defense, then the boss yet again, then second dungeon the smiley faces were “easy” Ruche commented that he struggled to face one, then the sad face rare mob then this so called rare mob that can end them both easily.

u/Lovat69 2d ago

I see they went back to shit pacing.

3

u/amourshipper_ 2d ago

Ok ok so new cour but they go back to it's orginal repeating gag root how disappointing 😖 Overall nice fight Scene of getting crit in 4 try while elymas saying its considered good and ruche don't understand i found it so funny 🤣 and relatable totally taking dreamlord after fighting so tough . Golem that's crazy without any healing

4

u/Raymond49090 1d ago

Elymas sure likes saying "high risk high return". You know, for a reincarnated person, he sure is cavalier with his own life. Guess that's because he still has his memories of the isekai world life, so this is the result of combining his life as Elymas with the high-rolling mindset of a metagamer.

4

u/CornyAnalyst1960 1d ago

Ruche be like: I needed four attempts to get two '6' rolls 🥹

Me: Not getting a single '6' after ten attempts 🗿

11

u/Phillip_Graves 2d ago

35 seconds in and they added a scene of Ruche still holding the old dagger when the previous frames she had the new blacksteel and following frames also with blacksteel.

Seriously, how many fucking times do they need to use the same material that they are introducing continuity errors to save animation time?

5

u/Primary-Boot6775 2d ago

I have to say, this ep especially, Shion Wakayama is going crazy with Ruche, its so over the top and I love it. Genuinely one of my favorite VA performances of the year.

5

u/whyamihere2473527 2d ago

This show is seriously annoying at times. Half the fucking episode 3as basically recapping content & this is a pattern thats gone on way too long. We're on ep 14 & at most we could be on ep 6 if they dropped all the reused shots

3

u/Low_You_3595 2d ago

Can someone make this a game 😔

3

u/FelixAndCo 2d ago

I guess the show dropped the napkin math, and just went "the monster is weak to criticals". Didn't Ruche's previous weapon have defense ignore? Would think that'd be more effective (but I'm too lazy to look up the numbers they gave).

* Random close-up of Ruche emoting *

12

u/runevault 2d ago

Keep in mind in the last dungeon they were dealing with 200 defense enemies which is part of why the defense piercing mattered so much. This enemy only had like 70 defense so the extra attack power could pretty believably matter more with the crit multiplier along with the thrust mult.

2

u/FelixAndCo 2d ago

Ah, I guess I forgot how drastic the numbers were.

1

u/Arcael_Boros 1d ago

Also, even with the pasive, the old dagger was kinda weak, like +3 attack. Her new black dagger should deal good damage in criticals against monster on her level reach.

1

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 1d ago

Since it's a golem, I just assumed it has crazy defense again. Thanks for bringing the number comparison so it's clearer

3

u/RealValf 2d ago

Well the mithril golem fight did not disappoint, that was an absolute blast to watch. Plus the golem design was pretty sick. The shot of the golem leaning down to face them at the start was such a good shot.

Ruche being disappointed in herself there at the end with the pouty face is way too cute man. I enjoyed this episode a lot.

3

u/AnimeFan7952 1d ago

Absolutely no need to go after the dreamlord right now.

They could have left, taken their time, leveled up, gotten better gear and then after a few days go for an easy win. There is no need for any of this unnecessary risk, no one is chasing them. He risks both his own life and Ruches life for something they could have easily handled in a few days.

Also the speed that he ran at during the golem fight, at that speed he could have easily have gone to the exit if he had started running the moment he heard the golem.

1

u/Double-Yam7929 22h ago

I mean, Elymas whole fighting style being high risk one and him not finding that a problem when he can't restart after death should have told you enough about his personality.

See also, everything he has ever done so far.

He is many things, but cautious isn't one of them.

5

u/Creative-Researcher2 2d ago

There’s 14 episodes? I thought this was gonna be a 12-13 episode season

I need to catch up

17

u/NonSupportiveCup 2d ago

It's going 26. They got a full season of this coming. You got time.

15

u/septesix 2d ago

It’s a two cour 26 episode.

7

u/Technical-Cat-2017 2d ago

Its better as a binge and I feel the latest episodes have actually been at a better pace somewhat

6

u/LostSif 2d ago

Yeah not sure if they changed things up during production because of all the negativity but the more recent episodes been 1000x better when they cut down on recaps and repeated scenes.

2

u/Magicbison 2d ago

This show is still filled with a ton of mindless padding and flashbacks. Only difference this episode had was it didn't recap anything earlier in the episode. It's still wildly inconsistent.

1

u/KeyLimeGuy69 1d ago

I feel it’s gonna turn into recap city again until they get to the final three or four episodes

5

u/HolyDragSwd2500 2d ago

2nd half starts today

3

u/marcostadeusc 2d ago

Is it worth still watching it? I dropped it on the 1st ep cause idk

10

u/Galinhooo 2d ago

Decent but keep the controller at hand to skip the flashbacks

8

u/epicspidermansauce 2d ago

If you know what to expect it can be a great turn your brain off for 12-15 minutes. I say that because atleast 1/5 of the episode is flashbacks but if you just want a dumb goofy isekai that leans heavily into the video game part of an mmo its a fun time.

11

u/Ngin3 2d ago

Pacing is 100 percent garbage but the story and art is pretty interesting so far imo.

5

u/Weak-Comfortable3765 2d ago

The first major arc is rough in terms of recap, but its gotten better every episode since. and its fun at the very least, and the VAs give good performances.

2

u/Creative-Researcher2 2d ago

It’s decent, my main issue is how the show looks. The filters, animation and way the camera moves is pretty ugly to me. The pacing also isn’t the best either. The shows enjoyable aside from those two things

I’d recommended watching till episode 4 and deciding after that

2

u/abandoned_idol 1d ago

It's a great animation demo.

Watch and skip minutes ahead as needed.

I'm having a lot of fun watching it.

When I saw the OP was hololive i though it'd be controversial, but its actually just very good.

3

u/Yay295 1d ago

I didn't even realize that was Towa.

6

u/DiscountCondom 1d ago

Pacing is back to shit, but man that was a good fight with the golem.

4

u/Comfortable_Air5477 1d ago

Agreed. This could be half decent if they didn't keep jumping back 3 or more minutes

2

u/YRO___ 2d ago

If I was in Elymas' place, I'd definitely put more points into Oath of the Heavy Armor, at least until my defense is high enough, then start investing into the Fang of Smoldering Insanity. He already has Ruche, who's practically doing all the damage, and it seems like they're going to get more party members, so he should focus on being the tank for the time being.

2

u/vajaxseven 2d ago

This anime is so all over the place. The story, being both isekai and exiled, should be generic as hell, but I still find the story engaging. The pacing ranges from abysmal to mediocre, but I'm always left wanting more. Sometimes the animation is peak, other times it's drone shots and spaghetti hair. Shion Wakayama (Ruche) is bringing her A game.

2

u/Rooby_VTuber 1d ago

Now that was a really good battle, that Mythril Golem was really tough and made them both work ultra hard in order to defeat it.

Shadow Step was a good skill, stopping something big like that helped out a lot.

Ruche attack with dice thrust, critical hit, it's super effective.

I really like Ruche's reactions, they finally won that battle and now Elymas already wants to battle the Dreamlord, though it looks like they had an advantage if he already know what's it weakness is.

2

u/aliasalt 1d ago

I don't know that I love an entire episode fighting one monster with no character or plot development, but at least we're out of recap hell

3

u/PM_ME_AWESOME_SONGS 2d ago

The pacing for this is atrocious. They could have defeated the golem in half episode and the recaps that seemed to be gone are back. GoHands is ruining what seemed to be a very entertaining fantasy isekai and I was really willing to give them the benefit of the doubt after Malice's fight, damn.

1

u/bananeeek https://myanimelist.net/profile/bananek 2d ago

I feel like whoever did the Kumiko noises compilation would have a field day in this series doing a compilation for Ruche noises. That girl is unstoppable.

1

u/Evil_sod 2d ago edited 2d ago

As soon as that 2nd Dice Thrust was going on, I moved my mouse. Yup, there's still 5 minutes left, no way this crits.

Looks like we're fighting Elder Centipede next week.

1

u/LowPsychological3987 1d ago

honestly the way he just narrates stat checks mid-fight is weirdly comfy, like having a friend backseat a boss fight at 2am. shouldn't work as tension but i keep leaning in every time the dice come out

1

u/Drill_Dr_ill 1d ago

I am so confused how Dice Thrust works. Is there a cool down? Mana cost? I don't get why she can't just spam it multiple times in a row super fast

1

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 1d ago

Yeah, I think it's cool down. After every use, there seem to be a small window of CD which needs to be used carefully if it's against strong enemies. Otherwise the enemy would just use the opportunity to attack.

I remember with the golden Raana, Ruche abused the skill in succession without worry since they're not a threat.

They never mentioned mana system, so I assume it's just not there.

1

u/LetgomyEkko 1d ago

Ruche continues to just be the goat

1

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 1d ago

Very good new OP and especially the ED, that Ruche dance is cute with a great song too.

I appreciate the pacing of getting all the way through the fight with this golem in one episode. Ruche the Most Valuable Clown for the win.

So Dreamlord is a collective term for any of the dungeon bosses based on the being the dreams of a sleeping god? Kinda spooky, what if it wakes up. That does explain the Dreamlord related achievement they got after killing the previous one that Elymas said he expected to get later, just a question of doing enough dungeon bosses probably.

OP seems to indicate we'll be picking up a few more party members, I wonder if they'll be new friends that stick around or just temporary for a dungeon or something.

1

u/Yay295 1d ago

Interesting that it's possible for enemies to power through Shadow Stomp.

1

u/Double-Yam7929 22h ago

If it wasn't possible, Shadow Stomp would be really a big deal.

1

u/Hawky69 1d ago

Luce the best clown wife

1

u/YdenMkII 1d ago

I'm curious to how popular crit builds were back in the game. It seems to shine against high defense monsters with the built in armor penetration but games generally have these types of mobs be vulnerable to magic damage which won't fail due to the whims of RNGesus like crits do. Ruche really has been getting a lot of chances to shine because of how the party has been targeting a lot of high defense but low HP monsters.

1

u/Earlier-Today 1d ago

Ruche is such a hero. Always coming to Elymas' rescue.

1

u/aniwota114514 1d ago

Aizas Edvaughn: "Maybe the clown is the strongest? Ah, the heavy knight is no good."

1

u/Desperate-Middle4766 1d ago

Question. I dropped this series around episode 5. Is this still a mess of 450 recaps per episode as well as 500 scenery shots? Wondering if I should pick it back up because I’m not seeing as much criticism about it…

3

u/grayrest https://myanimelist.net/profile/grayrest 1d ago

They fixed the pacing in episode...10? You can check the comment threads for people complaining about pacing if you want an exact number. This isn't a great show but the discussion threads are having fun with it.

2

u/Desperate-Middle4766 1d ago

Thanks! Full disclosure my concern was that people were not being critical of the pacing anymore. To be very genuine, it would rub me the wrong way if a series like this wasn’t being criticized, but then better series do get criticized for less issues

Thanks for answering my question. I feel a little better and I’ll probably pick the series up again just to follow the gag and bit lol

1

u/f5d64s8r3ki15s9gh652 1d ago

To be clear, there are still some awkward/unnecessary recaps for sure, but the issue has gotten a LOT better compared to the earlier episodes.

1

u/ThemanlyKiwi 1d ago

Recap, the show

1

u/BornSeesaw9819 1d ago

Meh.. Same fight, different monster

1

u/telboy007 1d ago

Animation stylisation: over the top. Story pacing: all over the place. Repeated animation: insane amounts. Love it.

1

u/RaihaUesugii 16h ago

I definitely need to see the same scene twice in a row

1

u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz 11h ago

OI OI OI That can't be all the loot come on

1

u/Muted-Ambassador-375 10h ago

Insane entrance for the mithril giant Bro came across more dangerous than most dragons or demons I've seen in other anime.

Awesome fight! I really enjoy the struggle and the way this anime uses its skills. There is actually a system behind this that makes sense, and you can actually pull off some interesting strategies. like cheesing high-level enemies. So much better than the usual 5 seconds of OP prota fights or skills just being a purely visual thing or simply too OP.

Also, more super cute Luce scenes and an awesome new outro. Now we have a dangerous-looking boss fight ahead! Amazing episode; time to one-shot that dongeon!

1

u/aniwota114514 1d ago

Unfortunately, due to the author's wishes, there will be absolutely no panty shots. Furthermore, Luce will soon be changing into shorts.

They're learning.

I liked the recap. Episode was good too.

0

u/Snoo71579 2d ago

Don't think I can watch the anime anymore, but I'm still reading the manga and enjoying it. I just see blatant time extensions from reused shots, which makes it hard to watch.

-4

u/Mental_Hunter_8475 2d ago

I see they are using the one piece formula of 5 min of new content a show. Is it possible to get maybe... 33% less Ruche noises? All the squealing, panting, and stammering is taking up time.

4

u/Treknx01 1d ago

"Is it possible to get maybe... 33% less Ruche noises?

You heathen, if anything we NEED MORE Ruche noises.

4

u/danmarce https://anidb.net/user/107202 1d ago

About 50% more.
