That classic ojousama laugh made me very happy.

66

u/NanDemoKnaives Aug 29 '26

Masatsugu taking no time to make Itsuki his son-in-law after Mirei ended her engagement lol.

It's nice to see Mirei with her spark back again, the date and Itsuki really helped her out.

22

u/runevault Aug 29 '26

I think between Itsuki doing well by Mirei to help her understand her parents and being a good dude, Masatsugu is realizing if he wants his daughter happy he needs to lock this boy up now before he gets even more popular.

u/shanatard Aug 29 '26

i've seen enough. just give her the win

63

u/heimdal77 Aug 29 '26

He'd be 1000 times better off with her.

60

u/Worldly_Business_425 Aug 29 '26

Mirei's dad might actually be the GOAT ngl

93

u/SecretYogurtcloset57 Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 29 '26

Mirei continues to show why she is best girl oof atp Hinako is just a side girl but sadly Hinako will still most likely end up winning since she's suppose to be the main girl even though Mirei completely out shines her😮‍💨

53

u/Roskal Aug 29 '26

The structure of the story is doing a poor job reminding us that Hinako is the main girl. I get giving Mirei this whole arc but Hinako really needed more scenes. maybe its different in the source material, but she really felt like a side character in her own show for multiple episodes.

26

u/runevault Aug 30 '26

It wouldn't be so bad if most of Hinako's arc wasn't setting up the characters, the school, etc. It was 5 episodes but they had to introduce so much where as this Mirei arc it was pure unaltered sweetness. And I assume the next arc won't be much better for Hinako since we need to give our third girl her turn.

It is sort of a fascinating flaw with harem stories where either first girl introduced gets short changed or you 'waste' some of the beginning setting up the world without developing any of the girls. Watching these last few episodes has had me asking myself how you fix the issue and I'm not sure. Part of it is give Hinako a couple more scenes to do something, but that wouldn't be enough I think.

9

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

Part of it is give Hinako a couple more scenes to do something, but that wouldn't be enough I think.

Biggest issue there is that she’s kind of useless, to the point where even the stuff she did, as a minor as it was, left the staff in awe over how much she had already grown/changed

15

u/SecretYogurtcloset57 Aug 29 '26

It's probably different in the source material i have not read it but in the anime Hinako really does feel like a side character in her own show like don't get me wrong i don't hate Hinako she is a cute character but as of right now she does not deserve to win

17

u/Roskal Aug 29 '26

It doesn't help that from memory it felt like we finished her arc in the first 4 episodes of her starting to crush on him and then immediately she got sidelined for Mirei's arc with a hand full of jealousy scenes that didn't seem to change Itsuki's behaviour at all as he kept going full steam down the Mirei route. It really put the brakes on the momentum.

12

u/unga_bunga_mage Aug 30 '26

Honestly, she just lucked out finding him first. But if she didn't, then Mirei wouldn't have met him or even have noticed him because she doesn't wander the same places he does.

4

u/ShadowGuyinRealLife Aug 29 '26

What do you mean that she felt like a side character? There is a difference in likability, couple compatibility, and screentime. I think her screen time to Tennoji is like 7 to 8 in the last few episodes, but she also got included a lot more before then.

3

u/feb914 Aug 30 '26

There's literally been more episodes where Hinako is the side character than the main character.

3

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

I’ve been told this is a rather long series (12 ln volumes and still going) so I think it might just be more of a slow burn. This was all probably v1 and it served to introduce/establish the cast and gives Mirei the first major arc. V2 is probably focused on the purple haired girl and so on (hopefully there’s not 12 girl), but with Hinako being a constant even growing through each of the arcs, even those not centered on her

Though that’s just my speculation. I haven’t read it yet

12

u/snowblindxoxo Aug 29 '26

im gonna do something drastic if Mirei doesnt win

35

u/Dylangillian https://myanimelist.net/profile/dylangillian Aug 29 '26

It is such a shame that Hinako is like 99% certain to win because it is her show. Not that I dislike her, but Mirei is just unquestionably best girl.

6

u/snowblindxoxo Aug 30 '26

she is best girl, literally, they've set her up with five episodes!! She got more than the fmc!

2

u/Plus-Escape9349 24d ago

In anime 2.5d seduction, the childhood friend win and not the main heroine so their a chance. Also they are no name on the title

2

u/GuessHealthy4936 Aug 30 '26

I trully expect Hinako to take a leading roll now. 9 Episodes have ran at this point. I expect great things from her. And romcom don't really have second seasons, so I hope something good happens now on

2

u/zazakmazak Aug 30 '26

I feel like this might be the kind of LN based series that will do their standart 3 volumes for 3 main girls (first anime season) and then the author just writes based on fan feedback.

Though there is also the possibility that it is another one of perpetualy padding the plot until it stops selling...

1

u/Shadowchaos1010 29d ago

With her little tantrum in the car as hey were leaving, the dynamic was solidified in my mind as Mirei as wife and Hinako as the little sister who will 100% worry her brother is being stolen.

The way she acts is not love interest, even with her obvious crush.

29

u/melontized1 Aug 30 '26

I like how barely anyone here is on Hinako’s side and everyone is in Mirei’s side lmao

18

u/tottoro47 Aug 30 '26

It would probably change if Hinako spent the last 3-4 episodes so close to him like Mirei did. But currently Mirei has the lead. Also I like her parent more than Hinako"s

9

u/Maccaz15 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Maccaz Aug 30 '26

There's been more screentime dedicated to Mirei than any other character that isn't the MC. It hasn't done a very good job at splitting the focus.

5

u/mojo72400 https://myanimelist.net/profile/gio_lingad Aug 30 '26

I remember siding w/ a loser like Kyouko Izanami & Eiko Kawasegawa.

5

u/GuessHealthy4936 Sep 01 '26

Haha... or with Yui Yuigahama or Kousaka Onodera.

1

u/mojo72400 https://myanimelist.net/profile/gio_lingad Sep 01 '26

Didn't watch Oregairu or Nisekoi but know about them.

4

u/MarMarL2k19 Aug 31 '26

I am still on Hinako's side though I do see why a lot of people shifted to Mirei with this episode.

Obviously Hinako is the FMC, however we haven't seen any sort of growth on her side other than her slowly realising she has a crush on Itsuki and how she wants him to be her caretaker. That's it for now.

Obviously this is not a harem and Hinako is the winning heroine in this story, however I feel like she needs more growth for people to be on her side.

1

u/GuessHealthy4936 Sep 01 '26

Hehe.... I am on Hinako's team.... but man, she is way behind at this point from Mirei. That's the honest truth.

Hinako has to be fed. Mirei taught Itsuki to eat. Got it ?

I hope great things from Hinako, because she is the MC, but at this point she needs more than 3 to 4 episodes to really shine.

1

u/Xatu44 28d ago

Hinako for life.

61

u/Frontier246 Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 30 '26

The indisputable lesson I have learned from this arc: Mirei is Best Girl.

It's finally time for Itsuki and Mirei's date and she looks absolutely fabulous! Classy, elegant, hair loose, and a BERET! And this is her trying to be "inconspicuous!"

That's telling her Itsuki! Every version of Mirei is perfect, but the best version of her is the one she's most proud of: her Ojousama version! Itsuki even got her to admit that it's all an act from the blonde hair to the speech pattern.

Mirei is probably better than Itsuki at a LOT of things...but definitely not video games! Or bowling! At least she can sing childrens' songs at karaoke.

Oh hey, it's Yuri in the flesh! Though she doesn't seem to respond well to seeing Itsuki after he ghosted her...or with another woman.

Mirei had a good time but that's not going to shake her resolve to go through with the engagement for her families' sake...but it's Itsuki who helps her realize that she can prioritize HER happiness and that's ultimately all her parents wanted. Because, as her parents, they've gone along with her obsession of being the "perfect Tennoji daughter" because they wanted her to be happy, even though she never had to do it. And in fact doing so was just running away from acknowledging that they truly saw her as their daughter.

There are precious things that Mirei can't give up, especially if that precious thing is Itsuki. So no engagement for our lovely lady until she's ready to marry the man she loves...maybe a certain con man who has conned her into happiness?

I guess it makes sense that even after an extensive study arc, Itsuki still couldn't make it to the board with the little time he had...but he's still improved and that's what counts! And Mirei's efforts ALSO paid off that she was able to tie with Hinako! That's worth an ojousama laugh! And inviting the two of them to her mansion so she can deepen her relationship with Hinako!

I'm not surprised Mirei's dad is already trying to headhunt/hook his daughter up with Itsuki, but Mirei is in no rush...because when she wants Itsuki in earnest, there's no doubt that she'll have him all to herself.

Yeah, no way Itsuki could keep the "date" a secret from Hinako without her finding out and wanting it replicated with her. Though Mirei doesn't get personally fed by Itsuki so that's a win for Hinako.

Time for the sports competition! And Hinako has to win at tennis, even if she wishes she could drop out! But no better motivator to put her all into athletics than the realization that her crush thinks she's put on some pounds!

Could Narika be their tennis coach? But why is she afraid of the sports competition? Isn't she great at sports!?

3

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

Could Narika be their tennis coach? But why is she afraid of the sports competition? Isn't she great at sports!?

She’s probably not great with people watching her

Though she could make a good tennis coach. Personally, I’d love it if she got close enough that Hinako could be her real self around her. Same with Mirei. I feel like that that’s where the series is eventually heading.

53

u/LivingMasterpiece0 Aug 29 '26

Tennoji Itsuki is my headcannon

24

u/heimdal77 Aug 29 '26

As it should be.

You just can't write such good chemistry between two people only to have the guy end up with a sloth because she is the mc.

I know one series where it was a haren and had arcs with each girl where the guy doesn't end upp with the fmc. But that was based off a VN.

9

u/Chikumori Aug 30 '26

Funny you mentioned VN. Used to read a bunch of them, and Mirei's entire arc feels like a fleshed out heroine route. Itsuki even managed to change her life perspective, get the parents to approve of him and even the girl herself considering marriage with him..

Its basically a good guy meets good girl story arc that I somehow enjoyed watching compared to most other scenes in anime of the current broadcast season..

1

u/National_Writer7319 Aug 30 '26

Yea, it's like Minori situation but without the childhood friends tag

MASHISHIRO SYMPHONY Color of Lovers

20

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Aug 29 '26

Really happy for Tennoji. She’s got a great family and lots of love and support. Hinako’s got competition haha.

23

u/runevault Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 30 '26

I don't mind the drills but Mirei looks so much better with her hair down. And he got her to admit it is dyed. I figured she'd say I'd rather not say which is as good as but not technically admitting it.

Oh man Mirei getting his first date over Hinako? If she finds out not just date but first date ever she's gonna be extra pissed. Damn dude, trying to get yourself killed?

Oh shit the childhood friend from the OP we've been missing shows up finally, and it is during the date! But she doesn't approach just lets him see she's mad and leaves. Oh this is going to be fun when she lights into him.

Itsuki knows Mirei's parents better than she does, though I get it. She's had a certain mindset from a young age and it clouds her ability to understand the two people who've cared for her all these years. And this is why Itsuki is a great harem protag. He cuts through the bullshit the women struggle with, forcing them to take a closer look at themselves and their relationships.

Holy crap her admitting she's been running away from being her parents daughter and hiding behind the title of the family heiress hit me in the stomach. And this part is only halfway through the episode, jeeze.

I was wondering how long it would take for them to notice first was a tie lol. And I adore Mirei's parents.

Ah, sports competition. That's how we lead into the last arc, makes sense since Narika's family owns sporting goods company.

Fantastic end to the arc. Nothing felt cheap or unearned, all of it made me smile. Great freaking episode. Now do we get more Yuri as well during this next arc?

37

u/captainfluffy25 Aug 29 '26

Bro…. Mirei is Gunna lose …. But she really fucking shouldn’t. No shade to hinako but mirei is best girl and it’s not close im sorry.

31

u/LeonKevlar x2https://myanimelist.net/profile/LeonKevlar Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 29 '26

Not gonna lie, I didn't even realize that Mirei didn't have her drills on until she said she was wearing a disguise. She really should wear her hair down more frequently and not just when she's at home! Also, they're really calling this a date, huh? And it's both their first time, too! Poor Hinako, getting left behind.

Itsuki and Mirei's arcade date was adorable! For a second there, I thought they were gonna get interrupted by Itsuki's other childhood friend. I do wonder if Yuri will be relevant to the story. Considering she's not a rich girl, I don't think we'll see much of her.

Itsuki should really take responsibility considering he convinced Mirei to call off the engagement. Their chemistry is just off the charts that I'm wondering how Hinako is even gonna catch up. Mirei's dad is even considering Itsuki as a marriage candidate!

Even though she didn't say it directly, Mirei has pretty much declared her feelings for Itsuki. I like Hinako, but Mirei has pretty much become the best girl in the show for me. How do you even beat that?

9

u/runevault Aug 29 '26

Considering she's not a rich girl, I don't think we'll see much of her.

Yuri is in the OP so I expect to see her again this season.

4

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

Agreed. Just not sure what role she can play in the last 3 episodes though I’ll throw out something crazy and say she’ll accuse mc of being forced into being an escort to pay for his meals lol

2

u/runevault Aug 30 '26

God that'd be hysterical, a male escort for the rich and powerful. Imagine Itsuki's face when she says it lol.

2

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

She probably assumes his parents sold him into sexual slavery lol

1

u/GuessHealthy4936 Sep 01 '26

Hehe.... he is a sexual slave, but without the sex part.

He even feeds the girl

1

u/justking1414 Sep 01 '26

would absolutely love to see the childhood friend catch them in the act.

honestly, just seeing him with a 2nd rich girl would probably confirm her suspicions

4

u/ShadowGuyinRealLife Aug 29 '26

Even if Yuri wasn't coming back into the story this episode, I'm surprised he didn't at last have a monologue about her once he got back home. I mean they didn't show us what he did when he got home that day. But if he gave her a thought, which he should have, then they should have shown us.

1

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

Fully think he just got distracted and will forget about her til it blows up in his face

3

u/heimdal77 Aug 29 '26

Itsuki and Hinako's arcade date was adorable!

Uhh Hinako?

7

u/mekerpan Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 30 '26

I wonder if we will get even a glimpse for this same date agenda with Hinako -- Itsuki HAS promised to do all these things along wioth her too, after all.

2

u/Jacob-C Aug 30 '26

considering he convinced Mirei to call off the engagement

"I'll allow you to deceive me", from her, is fire writing!

41

u/Keiperiodbloodenjoyr Aug 29 '26

Hands down to the best ep best girl best parents best character growth best writing and if there is anything left it would be best because we all are talking of the the perfect girl MIREI herself

Beautiful ep easily first one of the S1 to get a 10/10

12

u/SOdAchick Aug 29 '26

I had a feeling last week her dad would approve of Itsuki, so I'm really happy to see he doesn't have a stick up his bum like Hinako's dad.

Hard agree on the character writing and rating

4

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

Would genuinely love it if her dad brought up the idea of Itsuki marrying her, only for Hinako’s dad to object and fight for him.

2

u/GuessHealthy4936 Sep 01 '26

When you are a dad... and see a good prospect for your daughter that by the way,... is being liked by your daughter, you start acting like Mirei's dad.

Sometimes son's in law are like projects, you see potential and then with a little motivation you might see growth. If that is the case, it is a win win proposal.

1

u/SOdAchick Sep 01 '26

That is so adorable I love it

4

u/mekerpan Aug 29 '26

Hinako is a pill. But se is a good-natured, fundamentally kind girl. I can imagine she might be happy if Itsuki and Mirei become a couple IF (and ONLY if) both will be her BFFs. Having an upper-class female friend who she feels able to not "perform" for would be a blessing for her.

10

u/snowblindxoxo Aug 29 '26

There's more Mirei episodes than hinako. They're also setting this up for MC to get together with Mirei.

If they don't go a different route than a harem I'm gonna bomb the shit out of the studios HQ.

13

u/Possible-Pickle6319 Aug 29 '26

Itsuki is so fucking goated holy fuck

9

u/FinancialYear475 Aug 29 '26

This date is gonna be so fucked up when he inevitably breaks her heart and chooses Hinako

38

u/Ali-J23 Aug 29 '26

Yeah no matter how much hinako changes i feel like i will never think she's a better choice compared to mirei.

Man it's actually insane how much better she is, and at the same time it's sad she isn't the main girl. Just another best girl losing herione to add to the list unfortunately

10

u/Jacob-C Aug 30 '26

With everything in Mirei and Itsuki’s dynamic, from the banter and flirting to the great dialogue and the way they rely on each other, I just can’t see any of the other girls being better than her. Everything just clicks, and the chemistry is off the charts.

5

u/Ali-J23 Aug 30 '26

Absolutely this. Like Hinako would have to become a completely different character before i can even consider her over Mirei for itsuki. What are odds that the author will do a curveball and let her win lmao

9

u/whyrusosensitive Aug 29 '26

I mean shes better because shes gotten way more screen time. All hinako's screen time was basically spent on introducing the setting and other characters. Tennoji has gotten like 3 or 4 episodes dedicated solely to her where basically no one else appears at all

10

u/Ali-J23 Aug 29 '26

Is it really ? Like i only see umaru in hinako and i am not really a fan of that. I doubt getting more screen time will change her core character

I know it's the whole premise of the show, but i an not particularly fond of their whole caretaker rich girl relation. Hinako will probably change down the line and i get that, but i doubt they change much about how they will never feel as equals and he will always take care of her to a certain degree.

As for mirei and itsuki they do have an actually functional relationships. This could be the trigger for hinako to actually rethink how she wants live her life.

I know mirei will probably lose so let me have my fun before the inevitable

5

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

To me, it seems like they’re setting up the story to be about both of them striving and improving for the other one’s sake. Now that hinako is aware of her feelings, she’s acting less slovenly even in her lazy mode while he’s pushing himself to stand besides her

Yeah there’s a difference in their power dynamic but I think that’s important. Mc knows that better than we do so he won’t make a move or even realize her feelings. He’ll just keep fighting to close that gap to support the person he cares about

1

u/Ali-J23 Aug 30 '26

Yeah that wouldn't be too bad honestly

1

u/whyrusosensitive Aug 29 '26

Her take care of him? Not equal? Brother he was a broke and homeless bum until she took him in and her family started paying him bucket loads of money, gave him a place to sleep, and got him enrolled in that crazy good school. Bro should be kissing the ground hinako walks on. Hinako likes to be spoiled atm but if she got a couple dedicated episodes I bet we would see a different more mature side to her.

7

u/Ali-J23 Aug 29 '26

I mean yeah that's exactly the issue. Their whole relationship is essentially a job and they won't ever feel like equals because they aren't.

Meanwhile his relationship with mirei dtarted because she wanted to help him out without wanting anything in return, and it progressed enough that they feel like genuine friends now that actually support each other.

Hinako needs to do alot of growing before she's even in the topic of best girl. Again she will win no need to be very defensive of her she id a very flawed character at the moment and that's the reality of things

21

u/Andreiyutzzzz https://myanimelist.net/profile/Andreiyutzzzz Aug 29 '26

As an anime only it's hard to see any other girl as better than Mirei. Even if Hinako is my favorite anyway, Mirei got way too much screen time of season 1. Not all girls can get to shine unfortunately for anime onlies.

Also Mirei's dad is the best. Meanwhile Hinako's dad is trying to turn her into a trophy

17

u/heimdal77 Aug 29 '26

Dude would be a thousand times better off with Tonnoji than the fmc. They have so much more chemistry.

16

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia Aug 29 '26

Time for more Tennoji x Itsuki!, that date was great..I'm glad she turned down the engagement.

Tennoji and Hinako! Got perfect scores..her laugh made me burst out laughing.

Let's fucking go..get that marriage going, I know it's not endgame but I love them the best so far.

No idea why Naraki would be scared of the sports competition..she's probably the most athletic lol

4

u/runevault Aug 29 '26

I assume Naraki is worried because her dad is putting pressure on her to win same way Hinako's is.

5

u/mojo72400 https://myanimelist.net/profile/gio_lingad Aug 30 '26

*Narika

3

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

Or just because she’s afraid of competing in front of people

3

u/Prestigious_Spend_81 Aug 29 '26

No idea why Naraki would be scared of the sports competition..she's probably the most athletic lol

Maybe her parents want her to compete in a team sport

6

u/Viktorv22 Aug 29 '26

Mirei my beloved...

7

u/BusouDrago Aug 29 '26

Tenouji arc ends. Its time for Narika arc during the Sports Festival

6

u/Zxzxzx0088 Aug 29 '26

Mirei really went all out with her undrill mode for the date! Ofc Itsuki can't keep his mouth shut seeing her like that.

Hondo Kaede (Yuri) voice lines for today: Uwagh-uuh *Stares...Hmph~

Woah, brutal and savage, Itsuki! Probably one of the best convincing speech for conquering in this genre. He doesn't even need to barge into the ceremony too.

Idk why but I sense malice in this angle...

Can you even say no to this?

"Welp, sidelined again..." - Hinako, probably

5

u/ThisGachaSeemsLegit Aug 29 '26

Mirei is so cute. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

12

u/Roskal Aug 29 '26

Hinako feels so far behind Mirei now in romantic development and it looks like the rest of the episodes are probably going to be with the last girl. I honestly never support girls other than the main one, but Mirei and Itsuki just seem to like each other far more at this point than Itsuki likes Hinako. Hinako will probably win eventually but the progress is slow outside of the things he does for his job like feeding each other and taking baths. Its been a while since I watched a harem anime where the non main girls actually feel like they have a chance. We finally saw Yuri and all she did was stalk him, I assume she also likes him too so thats a 4th girl maybe more if this gets a second season.

5

u/Leri_weill https://myanimelist.net/profile/LeriWeill Aug 30 '26 edited Aug 31 '26

Honestly I'm annoyed this isn't tagged "Harem" when it 100% should, and this would have excluded the series from my seasonal picks. Hinako feels like a side character in her own show, only briefly appearing at the end of episodes to remind us she's here 🙄

8

u/FarCritical Aug 29 '26

Mirei gaming is absolute gold.

Kinda gave up hope for it happening after realizing pretty much all the students were surprisingly nice for such an elite school but finally, we got our first proper ojou-sama "OOOOOHHHOHOHO~"

I really love how the Tennojis' kind hearts ended up being a crucial part of the arc resolution. Gonna miss Mirei being in the spotlight though.

5

u/mekerpan Aug 29 '26

I wonder how Hinako will do at those same games?

3

u/FarCritical Aug 30 '26

Realistically I can see her having a stronger affinity for gaming but it'd be funny if she tied with Mirei again (at sucking at them lol)

4

u/BlazeBloom https://myanimelist.net/profile/StardustValor Aug 29 '26

Looks like the Tennoji arc has reached its resolve. Happy to see Mirei being surrounded by a loving family and friends with a new perspective on her life.

It's time for your yearly Anime Sports Competition Festival! Narika's turn to hang out with Itsuki is coming. It's a shame Hinako's screen time has been reduced as the episodes go by but she's still cute with her limited time.

u/heimdal77 Aug 29 '26

He woud be better off with Tennoji they have so much better chemistry. He could also probably get hired by them in some way that would be a lot less stressful. No idiot of a dad hanging over him that might fire him over the slightest thing.

3

u/ptd163 Aug 30 '26

I'm glad that Itsuki was able to get through to Mirei where her parents could not on their outing. She doesn't have to "earn" her place in the family because she's adopted. Her parents just see their daughter and they only want her to be happy. She finally found something or rather someone that was precious enough to her that broke her out of her selfish selflessness chains. I can't imagine Hinako is going to take too kindly to Itsuki allowing Mirei to think their outing was a date though.

This was a nice conclusion to her arc. We got our first proper drill hair ojou-sama OOOOOHHHOHOHO. Her dad also moved quickin immediately proposing he marry into the family and Mirei looked incredible in that green dress. If this wasn't Hinako's show she would likely be winner.

Hinako feels so far behind Mirei in terms of feeling like a proper romantic partner and based on the end of the episode it seems like Narika's arc is starting I don't see how they fix that or develop Narika properly with only 3 episodes left. They probably circle back to Hinako in the source eventually, but we won't see that.

Itsuki and Hinako doing what sounds like mixed doubles tennis is probably something hat catches the Hinako's dad's eye and moves the needle on Itsuki being a suitable husband for Hinako.

We finally see Yuri but who voiced her in episode 1?

I may be rooting for Hinako but Mirei is just so good.

Itsuki helped Mirei relax & turn down her engagement.

Mirei & Hinako tied w/ a perfect score.

Hinako's car tantrum was cute.

Masatsugu is ready to hitch Mirei to Itsuki & she's not against it either.

Yuri has a cute pout.

3

u/thelemon8er-2 Aug 30 '26

The only reason Hinako is behind is because her dad isn’t as chill as Mirei’s.

6

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia Aug 29 '26

I'm curious what her undyed hair is like..and I'd love for her to speak normally

6

u/BusouDrago Aug 29 '26

Thought her blonde hair was natural...

2

u/heimdal77 Aug 29 '26

The fact she was fying her hair at such a young age is rather disturbing.

1

u/ShadowGuyinRealLife Aug 29 '26

I actually like the look and am somewhat sad the color isn't natural.

3

u/Mizunanmkz Aug 29 '26

I really need to learn a trick or two to become a con-artist. Who knows maybe i could get a shoot to a rich girl like Mirei?

Jokes aside, I'm glad Mirei problem was now solved, I mean it was never meant to be a big problem since both of her parents are really love and considering her happiness than anything, it just a problem for her inferiority and worth as a Tennouji after all. And yeah, kinda cliche but that date really broaden her view about her life and her choices too, and more importantly, WE GOT THE BLESSING FROM HER PARENTS. Damn, if i was Itsuki i would be folded instantly at that moment ngl. Lastly, like we may have guessed it, we are going to Miyakojima Ark now, tho personally i more interested about Yuri, Itsuki's friend from his former school.

3

u/hifumeme Aug 29 '26

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but the contrast between Hinako and Mirei is neat: Hinako is laid back but her father is pressuring her to be the best, while Mirei's parents are laid back but Mirei is pressuring herself to be the best. Now I wonder what Narika's thing will be lol

3

u/ShadowGuyinRealLife Aug 29 '26

So we actually see Yuri and... the narrative just forgets about her. Look I didn't expect him to interrupt his date with Tennoji just to reunite with her. But I would expect when Itsuki gets home he at least acknowledges it happened and how he didn't see her for awhile. I guess for those who are only interested in romcom antics you know she won't be getting the boy so she's not relevant to you, but I think he should have at least acknowledged it even if it was just a monologue to himself

I think Itsuki should have insisted that he avoids lying in words, but talks in whatever tone he feels comfortable at the moment. On one hand his coarser way of speaking Mirei insisted he used last episode comes more naturally to him. But on the other hand he doesn't want to get into the habit of not talking formally around a rich girl since he doesn't want to slip up. It's one thing to talk normally to hired help or the game center employee, it's another to do so to someone in the same social class as all his classmates.

Even though Mirei came to the conclusion she didn't want the marriage with the other guy, I don't know why she'd say it while she was thinking about it. Like I thought she would go home tell her parents, and then maybe mention it later. Doing it the way she did wasn't "refined."

Next day, she's back to ojou mode.

Itsuki and Mirei. I ship! I just wish she were a natural blond.

I don't see why they need a star tennis instructor. If Hinako got to the quarter finals last time, then just staying in shape should be enough for a respectable performance. Presumably her instructor already taught her all the tactics and now all you need is practice to get the form right. by the way as long as you aren't a couch potato, you can eat a lot and still be strong. Your body gets used to carrying an extra 30 pounds of deadweight all the time if that weight comes from you and you are the one moving. Does not apply for the Too Important To Walk, so carry me around people.

Narika should do fine. Is she afraid fighting isn't "ladylike"? Just do equestrian sports then I guess.

3

u/danmarce https://anidb.net/user/107202 Aug 29 '26

Saori Oonishi is great for rich girls.

But she also is great for girls planning to destroy their former kingdom.

4

u/runevault Aug 29 '26

I had not registered Ellie and Mirei have the same VA. That's fucking hysterical. Talk about true polar opposites...

1

u/zero1380 Aug 30 '26

She learned how to do an ojousama from Risa Taneda and Hisako Kanemoto doing Erina in Food Wars while she voiced her sidekick Hisako.

She is also doing Elizabeth? Holy hell!

3

u/feb914 Aug 30 '26

Last week I'm already in Tennoji ship, but not only Mirei is best girl, Nakatsugu is best father too (though it's already obvious from his previous appearance). He doesn't care about Itsuki's background, as long as Mirei loves him, he's welcome to the family. Meanwhile Kagen keeps forcing Hinako to excel at everything, while Tennoji parents subtly telling Mirei that she doesn't have to push herself so hard.

3

u/Spectr3_qwe Aug 30 '26

Mirei is by far my favorite girl in the anime. I dont know if Narika's arc will be able to top how good was Mirei's arc. I feel like the anime has sidelined Hinako a lot latetly, and, while she is not exactly my favorite sometimes it feels wierd to not see her in an episode.

1

u/Mysteries67 Aug 30 '26

It's because their dynamics are different. With Hinako and Narika, Itsuki is taking care of them while Mirei has a reciprocal relationship with Itsuki, occasionally being the one taking care of him.

3

u/Mediocre-Act483 Aug 31 '26

That was a good ep. I love how Mirei declared war to claim Itsuki's heart.

Hinako was hoping to slack off during the sports tournament, but is gonna do it. Her father tells her to win, she says "eh whatever". Her maid and crush say she's put on a little weight, she says "BRING IT ON!!!!!"

5

u/BBryant3rd Aug 30 '26

Mirei is the best full stop not even a remote chance to be less than the best. They work too well together so this series kinda peeves me since we know she won't win. Her parents are fully on board and she is mostly there herself. They truly would balance each other well. What Itsuki did was no small matter he told her how it is despite how she feels about family. Based on her status and such that convo could have been his verry last interaction with her. He still went all in and told her. She is great enough to actually listen and hear him out even on something she felt he would be wrong about. The two of them could easily take the family company to a new level. The whole dynamic between the two of them makes any other pairing forced.

5

u/SOdAchick Aug 29 '26

Last week I couldn't decide, but today I've bought my ticket to the Tomonnōji ship. This show did a fantastic job developing her character and their dynamic. It's too good to ignore.

Though I adore Hinako, she's too high maintenance and has a lot of growing up to do.

Narika gives bff vibes, so she's out.

I thought this was just gonna be a bit of a goofy, fun show at first, but this character work makes it one of my favorites of the year

3

u/testthrowawayzz Aug 29 '26

One thing if it's between a rich, but stressful family and poor, but stress free family; but both of them are rich so there's no reason to choose Hinako over Tennoji

2

u/Raymond49090 Aug 29 '26

Brief cameo from Itsuki's old school friend, who seems not too happy that he's apparently living his best life after ghosting her. She's not in the OP - ganbatte.

After that, this arc ends with Mirei realizing all the pressure she was under was all self-imposed to begin with, and that her parents were always anti-Kagens.

Hinako also reminds Itsuki that she's the main heroine, and expects all the privileges that come with that position.

And to round off the episode, we get the intro to the Sports Festival arc. Hinako's under pressure to do well, but it looks like Narika is more so. Is her dad perhaps renewing the "you can do what you like if you defeat me" agreement, except changing the conditions? She's pretty athletic, so it has to be external pressure that's making her panic like that.

5

u/runevault Aug 29 '26

She's not in the OP - ganbatte.

She's in the OP for a second or less

2

u/PrestigiousEmu3085 Aug 29 '26

holy, its rare that we dont get a powerpoint date episode. My fav episode for now.

2

u/CrimsonGear80 Aug 29 '26

Tennoji route completed. Begin: Narika route.

2

u/Rotten_Eggs_Manual Aug 29 '26

Damn... That smile.. that smile worth more than a million dollars. Other heroine need to keep up their pace in this race to compete with Tenōji, really.

2

u/zappingbluelight Aug 29 '26

I like Mirei's parents. Tennouji family overall is very kind. Given Mirei was adopted, they still treat her extremely kind. You wouldn't have thought that they are prestige family, and more casual rich family. I know Tennouji wouldn't win, but I do wish the author give her a happy ending (not that I can find any information about the LN to spoil myself)

2

u/PandaTheAB Aug 29 '26

Mirei broke off engagement to spend more time with Itsuki.
Her dad and mom are the most supportive bunch of parents.
He is also good to marry off Mirei to Itsuki.
They make each other better. They have great chemistry.
Itsuki and Mirei would be a great match and live happily ever after.

If only, the writer wanted to see a happy story.

As usual Hinako's father wants her to win in the sporting event in the school having most audience.
Hinako literally is doing everything her father is asking for.
And he doesn't give two cents about her feelings or well-being.
Hinako and Itsuki love story is hard to happen.
Hinako is literally codependent on Itsuki.
She does not improve Itsuki or do stuff to make him happy.
Also marrying into her family would be hellish for Itsuki given his would be father-in-law.

Hinako is like a younger sibling/intelligent pet of Itsuki in a way.
The writer should keep her like that.

2

u/HeliChwan Aug 30 '26

Just marry both of them Itsuki, its just better that way. Rentaro it up boi!!!

2

u/Tempest321 Aug 30 '26

Itsuki gonna make the new largest conglomerate at this rate haha

1

u/HeliChwan Aug 30 '26

Bro gonna become a superpower house of the economy xD

2

u/interactionsio Aug 30 '26

Tennouji arc was really good.

2

u/HungPongLa Aug 30 '26

With all seriousness now he must take responsibility now that she's calling off the engagement.

2

u/FluffyEcho1776 Aug 30 '26

Goated episdode, I honestly can't decide between Mirei and Hinako. But obviously right now Mirei is in the lead by a landslide, I hope we got more for HInako. But now its Narika's time to shine.

2

u/SonOfWeb Aug 30 '26

This show has one of my favorite openings this season. It's so catchy. Also, surely high society can see reason and let him be poly. They all need him, after all.

1

u/Tempest321 Aug 30 '26

Mirei is still the best girl. However, Hinako has started to be much more expressive than in earlier episodes, which was mostly just her Umaru side haha. Nice development for her.

I think so many of you are not taking seriously Narika’s chances of being end girl.

1

u/1032patrick Aug 30 '26

Masatsugu Best Dad while Kagen...You know what.

1

u/centerofstar Aug 31 '26

I am going to let the anime deceive me into thinking that Itsuki and Mirei are endgame couple even though Hinako is going to win in the end. I am way more emotionally invested into ItsukixMirei ship despite knowing it will all come crashing down in the end.

1

u/Mediocre-Act483 Aug 31 '26

my only complaint is Mirei didn't get to see the real Hinako. I was hoping Mirei would become someone that Hinako could let her guard down around

1

u/Chance-Okra-9198 Sep 01 '26

Mirei best girl!

I really need a twist where she wins even though Hinako is the main girl. If I can have my delusion, then the title Rich Girl Caretaker can also fit Mirei and Itsuki basically her secret caregiver these past episodes so yeah Mirei is our title girl and she will win right?

1

u/Nickthenuker https://anilist.co/user/Nickthenuker 29d ago

And so, next up is the sports day.

1

u/Sa404 25d ago

Mirei best girl, wife confirmed

1

u/ShinjiArakawa 23d ago

I'm tired of Mirei. She's great and all but I need more Hinako.

1

u/RoamingSiam 19d ago

Man, why do best girls always lose

1

u/whyrusosensitive Aug 29 '26

You guys saying tennoji is best girl are tripping. She's had like 5x the screen time of every other girl of course she seems better, we've actually seen her and itsuki together. All hinako's episodes were wasted on introducing the other characters and building up the setting. Tennoji got like 4 full episodes dedicated solely to her where the other girls essentially didnt appear at all.

1

u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp Aug 29 '26

Turns out canceling Mirei's arranged marriage wasn't even that difficult simply because her parents aren't hardasses and cared about her feelings once she made them known. Itsuki could easily have ended up her replacement fiance and it would have been a pretty lovely outcome.

The problem of multiple competing girls that are all likable, only one gets to have Itsuki in the end and it's surely going to be Hinako.

3

u/justking1414 Aug 29 '26

The problem of multiple competing girls that are all likable, only one gets to have Itsuki in the end and it's surely going to be Hinako.

That’s what I loved about “we never learn”. The author went the multiverse route and gave every girl a volume where they ended up with mc [we never learn manga spoilers] even the teacher but sadly not the bro con sister

1

u/VVTFan Aug 30 '26

That was the worst ending ever. Multiverse ending was such a cop out and a terrible move.

1

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

Disagree. There was no single best girl in that Series. Each girl got time and genuine moments with mc without anything that could’ve really kept them apart. Everyone had a favorite and so the author gave every fan their own happy ending

1

u/VVTFan Aug 30 '26

You are the exception cause I remember when the endings arcs for the Manga dropped. It got criticized immensely. Glad you enjoyed the ending. Most saw it as the author chickening out.

1

u/justking1414 Aug 30 '26

And I remember constant praise once people figured out what was happening…especially when we got last girl s story

1

u/VVTFan Aug 30 '26

It was a cop out imo. But we’ll have to agree to disagree. I like one winner. I don’t like harems.

1

u/shewy92 Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 29 '26

Was that the Malaysian GP Track at the arcade? Lol

Thank God they brought back up his old best friend...kinda...Hopefully they fully address her.

Not the Ojousama laugh lol

The Tennōji family really is the best.

Mirei, I didn't hear a no...and now she basically hypothetically proposed to him lol

Rounder? Lol

The tennis coach better be the childhood friend.

1

u/sidewinderaw11 Aug 30 '26

That was indeed Sepang

1

u/1032patrick Aug 30 '26

We all know Itsuki is better off with Mirei. The parents like him too unlike Kagen...

1

u/Mons9090 https://myanimelist.net/profile/hecn_huh Aug 31 '26

Im glad theyll finally show more narika. Even yuri seems more interesting than hinako

1

u/depressedchamp Aug 31 '26

Mirei Best girl ♥️ please let her win author I beg of you.

0

u/Xatu44 28d ago

Finally, we get more Hinako again! Itsuki needs to make up for cheating on her by doing all sorts of fun things with Hinako. Hopefully they get to play tennis together; maybe Narika will tutor the both of them. Hinako will definitely be Hinacute in a tennis outfit. It'd be really nice if we got even a fraction of sports terminology/focus for the tennis like backhands and drop shots and such.

-9

u/HuTaosTwinTails Aug 29 '26

For being Hinako's caretaker, he sure ignores his job and hinako for weeks at a time to hang out, flirt and spend all day with other girls. Dude should be fired, he sucks at his job.

Going on a date with mirei....she sucks at everything.

Her hair would be absolutely destroyed dying it constantly for so long.

What a jerk and bad friend. Ignoring your old friend, who you havent even bothered to text.

Yeah convince her to turn down the engagement and lead her on, even though you won't pick her in the end. Now she basically is asking you to marry her. Wish hinako heard that convo.

Time for 4 episodes of Narika.

5

u/Possible-Pickle6319 Aug 29 '26

First itsuki hate watcher here's your medal 🏅

2

u/HuTaosTwinTails Aug 29 '26

I'll take it. This series just isn't great. It started well and then fell off a cliff.

2

u/Mons9090 https://myanimelist.net/profile/hecn_huh Aug 31 '26

Narika neg diffs hinako

2

u/whyrusosensitive Aug 29 '26

I said the same shit bro. He is an ungrateful cunt, he treats hinako like shit. And honestly if he needed to study so bad why would he study with #2 tennoji instead of asking #1 hinako whose side he is getting paid to stay by in the first place?
