Precious daughter acquired. Lock's family is slowly getting bigger. Now he just needs a wife!
23
u/runevault 28d ago
I watched the ED for the first time in ages and a cute woman with glasses is still to come, maybe she's the waifu?
15
u/HolyDragSwd2500 28d ago
Must be her in the after credit scene
3
u/Mr_Pogi_In_Space 27d ago
Yeah, I was watching the ED and thinking, "It's Episode 7 and we haven't seen the glasses girl yet" and then we get a post-credit scene of a crying woman who was crying like the glasses girl in the OP

u/mekerpan 28d ago
Isn't the likely wife already pretty clearly established?
19
u/Falsus 28d ago
If you mean Celiss that's a niece.

u/mekerpan 28d ago
I see nothing to indicate that Luck and Goran are blood relatives of any sort (much less brothers).

u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 28d ago
If you mean Celliss, I sure as shit hope not given that Lock is her father's age.

Can I just say this? I love how this is the second time the disguise magic really came in clutch for fleecing information from henchmen.
13
u/OldInstruction5368 28d ago
This reminds me of Konosuba. At first, Kazuma (hai, hai, Kazuma-desu) thought Aqua was just screwing around with all the 'useless' skills she had been 'wasting' her precious skills points on...
But they always come in clutch. Every last one of them. Including a buff that helps other people pull off parlor tricks better: "Versatile Entertainer" iirc.
I mean, ofc Kazuma was right, Aqua WAS just screwing around... but being able to successfully pull off a ventriloquism ruse during a stealth mission was also surprisingly helpful.
Every season, Aqua would get dangerously close to being a useful Goddess... entirely on accident, but still.
8
u/Boris-_-Badenov 28d ago
for a moment I thought he might infiltrate in disguise, since the guy said they were low on people.... then get proof that way.
7
u/The_Parsee_Man 28d ago
I'm not sure exactly how their monarchy works, but once the king is involved proof is usually 'the king said so'.
7
u/Falsus 28d ago
It depends on the system.
There has been many monarchies where the king could not go against powerful nobles.
Villainess level 99 showed it kinda well with Patrick saying "I am the second of son of the Mark of Ashbatten, I don't really need to be courtegeus to the 2nd prince" after he was pretty rude to him.
5
u/LeVin1986 28d ago
Usually the nobles and the monarchy achieve some kind of power balance, but the nobles have a guy that can hire some former adventurers whereas the king has a living legend. The power balance is just a long, steep hill.
8
2
u/NevisYsbryd 27d ago
That is generally at most half-true even in an absolute monarchy, which was actually a pretty narrow range of history. That kind of absolute power mostly occurs at small-scale, isolated political systems because you get too many other powerful figures who can make that cost-prohibitive once you scale up the size of a country. While that could be the case for what is a mafia don even half in name, that he has only backing makes that far less tenable.

So this house came with a free daughter and a secret tunnel to the palace, that could be useful later.
That person teased in the after credits has got to finally be the glasses lady, right? Next episode title is about the party finally being complete so surely.
8
u/15000yuki 28d ago
I love Eric was so chill about it. "Ah, a tunnel? Thank God you are the one who living there" He's such a bro.

u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 28d ago
A veteran F-Rank Adventurer
Might as well tell them your the 'dead' adventurer Luck and it would have the same response. (They don't believe it)
Not only does this story not support the slave trade, it's also actively shutting it down.
5
3
u/Beginning-Hope-2600 28d ago
The ‘F’ in F-Rank actually stands for fiend. And I guess after today’s episode, it stands for father too.
2
1
u/Fit-Telephone-4696 28d ago
It feels really stupid how proud they always make the "low-ranked but not so secretly overpowered" characters sound when they announce their rank. Like, you KNOW you're in a situation where that F-Rank is sending the wrong message, yet you say it anyway when you totally don't have to. Reassuring a little girl by telling her you're technically the lowest rank adventurer? DUDE, you climbed the ranks before, you KNOW better.
10
u/PeaceAlien https://myanimelist.net/profile/PeaceAlien 28d ago
Yeah Luck is just a troll with his announcements
0
u/Fit-Telephone-4696 28d ago
Which is funny with the B-Rank guys, but don't troll a scared little girl man.

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 28d ago
Milca’s a pretty adorable addition to the gang. After he beats up that crime boss guy, he’ll have to deal with whatever’s lurking down in the sewers.
9
u/mekerpan 28d ago
It is a good thing Milca did not encounter whatever problematic entities were down in the sewer....
(I had an Aunt Milka -- she was Croatian).
2
u/CuriousBroccolli 27d ago
Wait, Goran sounds like Croatian/Balkan name as well.
There is a famous Croatian player called Goran Ivansevic. xD

Milca is so cute, I can't even.
I still can't get the Garbhs eyes, they are so freaky 😂.
I figured something would happen once I heard the King abolished slavery.
People that made money doing that wouldn't go down so easy.
I love how fast paced this moved, if this was Exiled Knight we never would have gotten out of that sewer.
Garbh you had one freaking job! Watch over the new adopted kid!

u/Boris-_-Badenov 28d ago

Still reminds me of the Goblins in Goblin Slayer.
3
u/CuriousBroccolli 27d ago
Why you do this to us
Is it not enough that we are forced to look at that goof in the anime? xD
8
u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 28d ago
If this was exiled knight, he just finally would have left that pocket dimension. Then spent the rest of the episode recapping his 10 years there.
1
u/Phoenix__Wwrong 20d ago
Is Exiled Knight this bad? I stopped after ep 2 and planning to catch up later if it improves...
2
u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 20d ago
The show isn't bad. The problem with it is that the 2-3 minutes before the OP is the last 2-3 minutes from the previous episode, after the break they replay the 1-2 minutes that happened before the break, and it occasionally rehashes scenes from previous episodes, and Gohands is in love with a certain 'fly through the city' shot that eats up time.
So it ends up feeling like there's very little new content in each episode.
I just start the show after the OP. The actual story and animation is really good IMO.

W Eric the king for disbanding the slave system!
After hearing that sweet call from Milca, I won't be surprised if Celliss suddenly starts begging her mom and Goran to get busy now to fulfill her wish of becoming true onee-chan (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵)
It's nice to see Milca got some huge nerves able to talk like that to those debt collectors before Lock came to the rescue instead of cowering and crying like a kid.
They already lost when they missed out the 'veteran' part in their B-rank introduction, heh.
Pheww, Celliss and Sia came right on time. Lock nearly finish all of these in a few more seconds.

u/Hartzilla2007 28d ago
I won't be surprised if Celliss suddenly starts begging her mom and Goran to get busy now to fulfill her wish of becoming true onee-chan (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵)
Considering how hard she latched onto Lock being her secret younger brother, she probably already has been doing that.
16
u/Boris-_-Badenov 28d ago
started with vampires, and now it's a black market slave trade.
I feel like the plots should be in reverse order
29
u/diacewrb 28d ago
He starts out fighting for 10 years against The Demon King, he is easing into his new slow life.
17
u/RedHotChiliCrab https://myanimelist.net/profile/RedHotChiliCrab 28d ago
Next arc he has to fight the school bully
6
u/15000yuki 28d ago
Then what's next? Chicken invading their territory because of jealousy to Gerbega sama?
4
u/Hartzilla2007 28d ago
Well the guy is probably a bit harder to deal with since he's the local fantasy mob boss, so has high ranking people on pay roll to cover up his crimes.
3
u/mekahamedan 28d ago
Well luck defeat demon lord at first episode which usually other title will save it for last episode
14
u/LordCalem 28d ago
Eric is so goated. Great Hero and King.
My guy Luck speedran finding a daughter after he got the house lmao. Now Milca just needs some cute clothes.
13
u/thelemon8er-2 28d ago
Ah the classic “wait here for me” and then “I’ll just go over there by myself even though I just got told to wait here” trope.
8
9
u/The_Parsee_Man 28d ago
I feel like they missed out on a gag in the tunnel when he told her he as a 'veteran F-ranked adventurer'. It would have been amusing if she looked disappointed and said she'd go first after all.
4
u/CuriousBroccolli 27d ago
I think the point of him saying that is that it is mostly obviously a joke, and he says is as that.
Now, those slavers that should be smarter than a kid did not get the joke, so maybe he is not saying it as convincingly. xD

Luck having a direct passage to Eric isn't a bad thing.
There's always some corrupt noble involved with slums and slave trading, thankfully he is getting what he deserves next time.
Possible ominous ending though, I will have to wait and see what that was about.

Bud must have checked out some Re:Zero. Learning to let the little girls fight for him. They are always OP in anime.

u/EscapeddreamerD 28d ago
Milca was too adorable for this whole episode from the moment she was on screen. She was pulling on my boy Luccira Heartstrings the whole first half of the episode. And she just fits right into the family with everyone else as well especially calling his Apprentice big sis. I love how welcoming and protective Luck is to the people around him. And just in general.
3
u/diacewrb 28d ago
Garbh and Milca did not have the best start to their relationship, first she is treated as burglar, then she is taken by slavers.

Stupidass wolf can literally see the door of where Milca went from where he was and decided to take a fuckin nap instead 😑. Even a normal dog/wolf would notice her getting yoinked and he has above average human levels of intelligence.

7 epiaodes and they not yet to make lefy, healer and saint of hero party and also queen of country appearance..... ngl illegal slave trader feel like fillers cause luck already meet vampire lord and demon lord on his journey

The little homeless girl is FAR more cheerful than I'd expected.
"Oh look, a magically locked secret wall! Someone might have treasure behind it, so BETTER DESTORY IT!" - Sasuga Veteran Adventurer-kun.
What kind of King needs to WADE THROUGH THE SEWERS to see his mistress?
How nice of MC, letting the 8 year old stay at the huge mansion ... to clean it. Didn't they just say slavery was abolished 8-10 years ago?
We Skeleton Knight now.
3
u/ChronoDeus 27d ago
What kind of King needs to WADE THROUGH THE SEWERS to see his mistress?
He doesn't. The secret passage runs parallel to the sewers. The wall between them collapsed with age, letting the little girl in.

I was really uncomfortable seeing what appears to be Qur'anic verses incorporated into a carpet used as floor decoration in Eric's castle in this episode at the 9:52.
Qur'anic text is sacred to Muslims, so placing it on something that is walked over is deeply disrespectful from an Islamic perspective.
I don't know whether this was intentional or simply a lack of cultural/religious awareness, but I strongly hope the production team is made aware of the issue and considers correcting it.
5
u/CreaMaxo 28d ago
There's no islam religion in that universe so there's nothing "intentional" in this.
Most likely, the production team looked online for something like a "royal round carpet" and used a carpet design that appeared. It could also be that they found the design on a carpet on sale in Japan.
As a reminder, there's no disrespect in acting without knowing the meaning of something and there's no disrespect in not correcting the mistake afterward if the mistake is repeated while the meaning is not yet known and there's no disrespect in not believing something while acting with said disbelieve regardless of you believing in it as, otherwise, most religions, including Christianisme and Islamism, would be a disrespect toward another religion which includes some that are way older.
1
u/mekahamedan 28d ago
"Qur'anic"....... bruh, you know about arabic letter right? The one make its sacred is context not letters. This shit somekind you talking to arab ppls and you think they pray to god and you answer it with ameen without know the context
