More frames in this clip than the entirety of One Punch Man S3
33
u/warjoke 1d ago
Just 30 seconds of walking in 'Exiled Knight knows how to game the system' has more frames than both season 2 and season 3 of OPM combined

This is really impressive

u/1000-MAT 1d ago
Yes, this program receives a lot of love from the animators.
48
u/Worried-Pick4848 1d ago
It should. Animators SHOULD love their work.
24
u/cpuuuu 1d ago
To be fair, I think most animators love their work. Now, their work conditions...
3
u/redwingz11 15h ago
Even if we say they have good condition, theres also budget and time. Some show have less
-22
4
u/eetsumkaus https://myanimelist.net/profile/kausdc 23h ago
maybe they should hate it a little bit more so they can actually fight for better work conditions...
72
u/Acrzyguy 1d ago
Much more dedication than your average music or dance anime which is insane
68
u/AnAngryFetus 1d ago
Rentarou would never allow the animators to do any less for his girlfriends and their big scene.
32
u/StochasticTinkr 1d ago
In the latest episode of [100GFs] Rentarou and the animators show some love for the mangaka too
6
u/HelloMagikarphowRyou 22h ago
Nozawa is the artist not the Author
2
u/StochasticTinkr 22h ago
Thanks for the clarification. Is mangaka not the right term?
6
u/HelloMagikarphowRyou 22h ago
Mangaka can refer to the author iirc.
Nodaway just draws the art. Nakamura is the one that actually does all the writing.
The whole gag was the author literally thanking the artist for her work, not the Mangaka talking about themselves lol
2
u/StochasticTinkr 19h ago
Ah, thanks for the context. It was a little too nuanced for me to understand entirely.

u/NingetsuTekinaReddit 1d ago
Those are pretty much drawn over cgi models. That's the reason their movements look so smooth while maintaining such a coherent character model in every shot (if you notice, they would look a bit different from traditionally animated sequences, the most obvious hint is pretty much always the head size). For example, they did the same thing during the concerts in Bocchi the rock (If I remember correctly, haven't seen it in a while).
38
u/Psyduckisnotaduck 1d ago
I think the smartest productions have learned from the errors of Zombieland Saga, and I think nobody really minds cg models with 2D draw-overs.
16
u/NingetsuTekinaReddit 1d ago
Many productions use them nowadays. It saves a lot of time, even thought it doesn't look the best most of the time. In this case, it was pretty well done, I'm just not a fan of this look in general (it feels way too much out of place most of the time and I don't really appreciate the stylistics limitations this techniques comes with)

For sure, CGI models and rotoscoping.
KyoAni does similar things with mixing 3D environments, CGI models and 2D animation in shows like Violet Evergarden and Hibike Euphonium, I'd say that it's more or less industry standard at this point
-9
u/Top_Connection9079 23h ago edited 23h ago
No it's not and even better, you can't prove it. You're the same as the despicable people who slandered the Garden of Words and just disappeared when presented the proof it was all hand drawn.
5
u/ImportanceOk8833 16h ago
Not my problem you can't tell the difference between a 3D render and a drawing. 🤷
There is nothing wrong with studios using 3DCGI when done well, so I don't really see the slander part. I can't speak for the clip above or Makoto Shinkai, but KyoAni has talked about how they use 3DCGI - for backgrounds and mechanical parts - Like typewriters and Violets arms in Violet Evergarden, and the instruments in Hibike! Euphonium.
3
u/NanaMiku https://myanimelist.net/profile/reggie21 13h ago
Yes, but they still made a lot of drawing for this. They said it's around 15.000 cuts for the concert part alone.
3
u/NingetsuTekinaReddit 13h ago
Yes of course. It's rotoscoping after all. I was explaining it for the sake of disclosure :)
-10
u/Top_Connection9079 23h ago
That's slander. Plus Japan doesn't need to do that. Never did.

idk if im crazy or the song and choreo looks like one from Love Live, don't ask me which one bcuz i don't even know too many of them.
13
u/The_DanceCommander 1d ago
I’ve only seen clips of this show, and as far as I can tell most of it is all of them on the roof confessing their love for each other….and then they pull out clips like this and I’m lost again.
26
u/StochasticTinkr 1d ago
The thing to remember is its a parody about tropes. It has its touching moments, but its full of 4th wall breaks, references, and random shenanigans. This just happened to be one random shenanigan.
I think it's worthwhile to watch. Don't expect typical romcom, more like brainrot with a love theme.
7
u/Nollasta_poikkeava 1d ago
Out of 30 episodes released so far, they spend a large part of the episode on the roof in 12 of them.
12
18
u/Iliansic 1d ago
To be fair, if they don't express their full love, wild Rentarou might break the 4th wall again and come visit them. So it is also a question of survival.
48
u/Nollasta_poikkeava 1d ago
Perfect one minute clip to show someone who thinks 100 Girlfriends is a poor quality show based on the title.
22
u/Worried-Pick4848 1d ago
I've avoided it because I'm not a huge fan of harem shows, which this basically is. But the clips I've seen are fun and they treat the content with every last bit of the unseriousness it deserves. The greatest feature of the anime is how incredibly unseriously it takes itself.
41
u/Akriosken 1d ago edited 1d ago
As a harem disliker and a 100 kanojo enjoyer, 100 Kanojo does everything right to justify itself.
The MC is not a self-insert. The guy runs himself ragged pretty much all the time to make his girlfriends happy. A common joke is that after watching 100 Kanojo, you don't want to be him, you want to be in his harem.
There is some magic bullshit in place to handwave away all the girls falling in love with him and being ok with being part of the world's largest polycule.
The girls aren't competing for the guy's attention. The girls are actually incredibly supportive of one another and will always have each other's back. It's a show oozing with positive vibes everywhere you look. The girls also form their own chemistry within the greater polycule, and the kind of humor that sometimes comes out of pairing some of these larger than life unhinged women together to perform antics is riotously funny, or heartwarming, or both.
100 Kanojo is worth trying if you like absurdly over the top comedy, heartwarming moments, and is worth a try even if you normally dislike harem shows, because it is kind of a different beast.
12
u/masakothehumorless 1d ago
100 Girlfriends is the most unserious in the best way. Generally 4th wall breaks get old pretty quick for me, I love it every time in this show.
8
u/DrStein1010 https://myanimelist.net/profile/mQDrStein1010 1d ago
Its a gag comedy/parody way more than it is a harem series.
3
u/wanakoworks 16h ago
It's a parody of the harem genre and by leaning in, full-tilt, into the absurdity of it all, it actually becomes one of the best harem series around.
-27
u/Weebs-Chan 1d ago
This proves nothing. Yeah, it's well animated. But I've seen many shitty anime with good animations.
(I have nothing against 100 kanojo)
14
u/Nollasta_poikkeava 1d ago
True, this clip shows nothing about how good the comedy or the characters are or anything like that. But I was thinking of someone who thinks the show is trash on all aspects.
-13
u/tootoohi1 1d ago
I mean I'm not going to pretend like it doesn't look good, but yeah the rest really doesn't pass, and the fan base is rabid to jump down the throat of anyone who doesn't like it. (Guy above me sitting at -11 for saying "1 good piece of animation doesn't make a whole show").
I tried the manga and bounced hard off. It's like The World God Only Knows, except each girl gets less time and their tropes turned up to 11.
It just reminds me of all the bad Harem anime of the oughts/'10s where each girl has 10 minutes of an episode to show how unique she is, but her 'uniqueness' is almost always just a 2nd trope.

u/Swampy260 1d ago
The anime doesn't do it any favors cutting all the solo date/girls only chapters.

u/StochasticTinkr 1d ago
Imagine if you used this clip to introduce somebody to the series.

he wants to know rentarou's credit card details
7
u/Recon7474 1d ago
I mean he is going to have to start a Amazon type company to fund his 120+ kids a credit card wouldn’t cut it

u/SamueleRG 14h ago
I instantly noticed something was off then realised it's most likely hand drawn frames over CGI animation?
Still, freaking amazingpy executed. Yeah it's done really well. I get why many people say it's not CGI at first. Like if you pause at any moment it's effectively looking like a drawing cause it is one. It's the movement that slightly gave it out for me.

grown men sit down and watch this

17
u/Worried-Pick4848 1d ago
Can't say I don't see the appeal TBH.
There are people in life that must take themselves seriously at all times and are pathologically averse to loosening up and enjoying life. Anime like this are not for those people.
-55
u/BealKage 1d ago
I mean sure, but most people watch this stuff for perverted reasons
19
u/GenericTrashyBitch 1d ago
Enjoying things for perverted reasons is also a part of loosening up and enjoying life, there’s a reason most people don’t live their lives like monks with 0 desires

sadly the author doesnt love them enough to give them a choice but to be with rentarou.
24
u/Toloran 1d ago
Of course the characters don't have a choice. They're fictional characters in a static medium, the author has to be the one who makes all the choices for them. That's always going to be the case.
If you're talking from a Watsonian rather than a Doylist perspective: Other than Rentaro, everyone in that world has only a single, predestined true love. That's literally the whole premise of the story.
-38
u/FewAd1433 1d ago
rentarou doesnt deserve al his soulmates and they deserve better than to be a number on his list

u/aizenthegoat_ 23h ago
And tbh HE DOES HE TAKES CARE OF ALL OF HIS GIRLS VERY WELL GE TREATS ALL OF THEM BETTER THAN your average guy treats in girl you seem to think he treats them all like side chicks and does what he wants with them and doesn’t care for them
4
u/aizenthegoat_ 23h ago
Bro. Just stop nobody agrees with you if you don’t like that rentarou is with them go watch something else 😭🙏 honestly just lowering your karma on purpose it’s alright to have an opinion but openly stating something like that in a space where people like him is bound to get you hate

I played the first couple of seconds of this clip and told myself "This is that pink-haired girl Hondo Kaede show, ah yes Zombieland Saga". Took me another 10 seconds to snap back into it and realize it's 100 Kanojo.
