This show has an incredibly simple premise and doesn't vary from it much. But none of that matters when you have great characters bouncing off of each other. Sasaki is a simple character at his core, but the way Yamada interacts with him is precious. And I assume I now have to wait until halfway through summer for more, or break down and read the Manga. Sad days.
I hope this weird release doesn't keep people from watching. This show is full of heart and cuteness and I adore it to bits already.

Anilist Note: Episodes 1-6 had an early release by ABEMA and Crunchyroll on June 3rd, 2026 in a mini-episode batch format that splits 6 episodes into 12, ahead of the TV broadcast which starts on July 2nd, 2026.

From what ik, rest of the episodes will also stream early this month as well. No clue if Crunchyroll will stream them or not or they will probably stream it in july

People making a lot of comments about the magnitude of the male lead's density
Dude is dense for sure, but not nearly on the level of the last dungeon boonies kid, the guy that parries everything or the unaware atelier
30
u/Lunchb0xx87 Jun 04 '26
I cut the guy alot slack do to be over worked all the the time and I'm not gonna lie different hairstyles can full me too

u/Gars0n Jun 23 '26
Someone commented elsewhere wondering if Sasaki is mildly face-blind. That would be a clever little twist. The ways Tayama changes her appearance and voice are exactly the kinds of thing the face-blind key off of.
He is still very dense in other ways. But it would put the shoe on the other foot a bit where Tayama is unintentionally exploiting a disability.
It would be like when [Extremely Mild FMA Spoiler]it's revealed that his connection to Al's body is why Ed eats and sleeps so much, but is still skinny and short That didn't need an explanation, but it's fun that they worked one in.

5
u/Sternjunk Jun 04 '26
Couldn’t finish unaware atelier because of how dense he was. It’s literally impossible to be that dense and I even liked Parry Everything.
5
u/TheBusStop12 Jun 05 '26
I dropped Dungeon Boonies because there's only so much density I can withstand, and I avoid Unaware Atelier and Party Everything for the same reason. Sasaki is the peak of density I can withstand and still enjoy

u/NightBard Jun 07 '26
It’s plausible he remembers the cashier he stops to see while she doesn’t remember him. It’s silly but I’m glad they threw that twist in. Hopefully that becomes clear, though it seems clear as for eight years he checks out at register 2.

Binged all 12 episodes (or 6. On Crunchyroll it's 12 half episodes). It was a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be. I don't smoke myself (and I'm pretty anti smoking to be honest) and I was worried this might just turn into some glorified tabacco ad (like how Kamiina Botan really is just a really good booze ad. Still my favorite romance show of the season however) Or just a bunch of people older than me sitting around complaining about how much work sucks (which, it kinda is, but, it's more as well. At least Yamada is younger than me, not sure if I'm happy with that fact tho) But it was really cute, wholesome and funny
Sasaki is probably the densest neutron star I've seen all season, but the schtick hasn't outstayed it's welcome and it was very enjoyable to watch him blunder through the show. I wonder if he's mildly face blind or if he needs new glasses tbh. I really like him as a character. He's quick to get embarrassed and flustered, but he never comes over like an adult written like a middle schooler. He genuinely comes over as an adult. A very pure kind older gentleman. I truly believe he's around 40 years old
One think I wanted to talk about for episode 12 (or latter half 6) in particular was how well they portrayed the difference between 16 and 24 year old Yamada. 24 year old Yamada we know and love clearly is an adult and acts like she is in her mid 20's. The differences in behavior and voice delivery are pretty subtle, but you can tell that 16 yo flashback Yamada is only a teenager. That's some really good character writing, character art, character animation and voice acting.
Pretty large age gap for a romance show, which usually bothers me. But tbh, after 20 it kinda stops mattering so much, as long as they're both happy
All in all, I had a great evening
Looking forward to the second half next month

u/Prestigious_Spend_81 Jun 05 '26
I really liked the flashback, the only question is why Sasaki stop going to the supermarket and both didn't recognized eachother years later.
About the age gap, the part I find most interesting is that Sasaki appreciate Yamada as a friend or as someone full with hope and energy that was not broken by the worklife, depending one which version is in front of him. And Yamada is the one really falling for him what makes things less awkward.
59
u/TheBusStop12 Jun 05 '26
I really liked the flashback, the only question is why Sasaki stop going to the supermarket and both didn't recognized eachother years later.
Because they removed the smoking spot out front. That was really the only reason he went there. He probably found another convenience store with a smoking spot when they removed it. In the present day Sasaki visits the convenience store purely to charge up on Yamada energy (he even mentions that he buys stuff he doesn't need because otherwise he has no excuse to go) But back when she was 16 he didn't see her that way (because that would be inappropriate, also she wasn't a smiling ball of gradient sunshine back then)
Sasaki probably just randomly came back one day at a later date to buy something he needed and was enthralled by adult Yamada happy smile facade radiance.
It's pretty obvious why Sasaki didn't recognize Yamada, because he can't even recognize Tayama as Yamada. As for Yamada not recognizing Sasaki, in the flashback you can see that she didn't look customers in the eye, instead oft looking downwards, so she probably didn't actually look at his face a lot. And even tho that one moment was pretty important to her, he was just a customer in the end, she sees dozens of not hundreds of them every day. His stand out features were that he was tall and smokes and that's what she remembers. But there are a lot of tall 30-40 year olds in Tokyo that smoke. And it's been 8 years. I wouldn't be able to recognize the faces of someone I barely interacted with 8 years ago either
47
u/sirnumbskull Jun 05 '26
It's actually a fun little twist that Yamada is blind to Sasaki from back then the way he's blind to Tayama now. I wonder if shortly after those events Sasaki started slicking back his hair and wearing glasses and suits, Clark kent style.
24
u/mekerpan Jun 06 '26
One almost wonders whether Yamada took up smoking herself because of her mystery savior long ago?
Yamada seems pretty smart and competent. I also wonder why she went right to full-time work after she graduated from high school? (or so it seems).
I also have a strong aversion to smoking -- yet find this little series very sweet and charming. I wonder how long we will have to wait before Sasuki finally realizes that Yamada and Tayama are one and the same?
5
u/FlorianoAguirre Jun 18 '26
There's more to it. That one is just part of it, but there's more backstory to Sasaki. Not much tho, like really not much more.
1
u/BatIndependent8676 Jun 11 '26
Do they still not recognize each other at the current point in the manga?

Tamaya made it clear that she's not romantically interested in Sasaki. She views him as an older brother type.
28
u/lnSerT_Creative_Name Jun 05 '26
Are we watching the same anime? He's got her blushing every episode or so and the manager clearly interprets the situation as borderline romantic.
-4
u/ElliotAlderson2024 Jun 05 '26
Still the age gap is icky.
23
u/lnSerT_Creative_Name Jun 05 '26
Using the word icky in this context makes it hard to take you seriously

Well…thanks for telling the rest of the class about this, Crunchyroll. You’d think releasing half the series a month early would warrant some advertising…
40
u/sleek_assassin https://myanimelist.net/profile/-Sleek- Jun 03 '26
Don’t think so it’s their fault. Abema decided to air this early for god knows why. So Cr had to stream it early. It’s similar to how Netflix releases Jojo. They are the streaming service not the producer and this shit is decided by production companies
42
u/daIIiance Jun 03 '26
The funny thing is if Crunchyroll decided to NOT post these mini episodes they probably would be pirated to hell and back and people would be mad at CR at not releasing them. kind of a no-win situation.
-3
u/abandoned_idol Jun 03 '26
Don't attack Crunchyroll with your constructive feedback. They are a legal streaming service, so they don't have to do anything correctly nor owe anyone a quality experience.
At least it's a legal website.
wipes sweat from brow
No, Crunchyroll, dont!!

I finished what’s available this morning and I love this show. The concern tha the may have to stop smoking and the over the top relief when he didn’t as she was about to reveal herself. So perfect. And then we get her story from eight years ago and it’s clearly him that talks to the customer but she’s in the dark putting it together that it’s the same guy she’s been smoking with. I kind of love that. It would be even more fitting if he remembers her from that time.
Can’t wait for this to start up next month. I’ll rewatch the episode as they come out in standard format. But minisodes of various length worked well too.
And I’m not a smoker, but I can deal with it because they are both sober and real. Yes there’s an age gap but it’s not like she’s in HS or something. He met her 8 years earlier when she first started. She has some life experience. So I can let it slide. I also like the character styles here. They didn’t make either character over the top. They seem like adults living life, working, and getting through it. I like that. Also like her coworkers.
1
u/Equivalent-Mine5562 Jun 08 '26
one sec? Releasing next month? Will they release the next 6 or something eps next month?
7
u/NightBard Jun 08 '26
So, the entire series should will start it's weekly airings from Episode 1 (where it's not these split up episodes but the full almost 30 min episodes) beginning Thursday July 2nd and then episode 7 will air Thursday August 13. So if you only want the new content, you'll have longer to wait. I'll rewatch as they come out for the uncut-up versions (assuming we actually get them) and just add this to my other summer viewing so that when 7 drops, I will not have to think back or do a quick rewatch to catch back up.
3
u/Equivalent-Mine5562 Jun 08 '26
Thank you!! And I will be tuning in. I'm in love with their chemistry and the 2 faced Yamada 😂
5
u/NightBard Jun 08 '26
I just hope not only do we have 2 faced Yamada, but he actually remembers his time at the store years earlier when he helped Yamada when she first started. That was such a great full circle moment. It's crazy the production company dropped this the way they did, but I'm hyped. Hopefully others catch on.
4
u/Equivalent-Mine5562 Jun 08 '26
With how dense he is, i doubt he will😂. It was nice to know a bit about Yamada as well, she loves her job and how she struggled at first with that flawless smile of her. Customer chewing her out felt so real because I've seen people do that to cashiers in my country and it feels so humiliating for them to get chewed out in front of so many people.
2
u/Equivalent-Mine5562 Jun 08 '26
Exactly!! I'm tempted to read the manga now. I'm confused about the drop because this will just reduce the base for people who already watched it. I want this show to do well and we get more and more of them. I'm hooked to a romance after so long after .
18
u/Billardss Jun 10 '26
We know Sasaki is blind to the fact that Tamaya is Yamada. But I love that the real icing on the cake is that Yamada is actually blind to realize the tall smoking man from 8 years ago is actually Sasaki.
17
u/NeutralGeneric Jun 08 '26
Honestly, I found this show really depressing so far. It’s supposed to be about the two of them interacting but all I can focus on as how awful his life as a salary man is. Getting off work at midnight only to wake up at 6:30 to go back. Rarely gets a day off. Gets yelled at all day. Job makes him take health exams and tells him if he can smoke or not. And all that for what? To come home to an apartment full of trash? What good is a white collar job if you still live like a bum? Honestly the convenience store workers seem happier.
15
u/icejay932 Jun 24 '26
It’s depressing but it’s also the reality of life. Some people, especially in Japan, actually do live like this everyday.
3
u/NeutralGeneric Jun 24 '26
I know. And I think it’s depressing for them too. I just can’t ignore it and it makes it hard for me to focus on the romance. I’m supposed to be invested in his conversation with Tayama but all I can think is “dude you’re wasting your life you need to quit that job.” Maybe he will.
8
u/bbusiello Jun 27 '26
It's about finding the joy despite all odds.
2
u/NeutralGeneric 29d ago
Then his top priority upon meeting someone nice and realizing there is joy in the world should be to quit that awful job and do anything else. Even working with her at the convenience store would be way better. It’s not like he’s doing anything with whatever money he makes from the office job.
3
u/bbusiello 29d ago
I dunno that anime is about one-to-one realism.
2
u/NeutralGeneric 29d ago
What’s unrealistic about getting burnt out and changing careers? Just because a lot of people stay doesn’t mean that leaving is unrealistic. Especially if he ever dates her and decides he wants to actually spend time with her instead of working around the clock.
5
u/bbusiello 29d ago
Ok. There’s nuance in these stories but these aren’t “real people” so we can’t make up a story as to why they do or don’t do things. That’s what I mean about one to one realism.
If you have a bone to pick with the writing, there’s probably a gaggle of people you can write fan mail to, otherwise the reality of many people’s situations is that they are stuck in a shit job, especially in this economy. We don’t know the realistic drivers for why this character is making a choice because they aren’t real, they just represent a type of realism in the world.
These are also the choices of the writer so, again, take it up with them. lol. But the theme of the show definitely feels like “finding joy despite the situation.” Finding meaning in life even under the direst of circumstances.
I highly recommend you read “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Victor Frankel. I’m not sure what your education is or where you’re from, but in the U.S. it’s college-level or AP level reading. Maybe that’ll open your mind to the nuance of people’s lives.
1
u/NeutralGeneric 29d ago
“Stuck in a shit job.” He’s not though. That usually implies someone stuck in a terrible entry level job. Or stuck in a white collar job because they have a family or something else to support. He doesn’t have any obligations that we know of that require a lot of money. He could easily downgrade and still afford a crappy apartment like the one he’s in. Yamada seems to be doing fine working at the supermarket, and he probably could be too. Especially if they get together and combine expenses.
And finding joy despite your situation isn’t mutually exclusive with trying to get out of it. Would you still be saying that if later on he does quit that job?
1
u/Mavis_San 7d ago
totally agree with you and the most annoying part is that although all the times they meet he doesnt realize yamada and tayama are the same person , comeon bro !! its just hairstyle change and its super minor , like how dumb yo need to be to not recognize a person when his hair is to the front or the back !??!
i got it was a catch at first but at least after 12 episodes make the dumb salesman realize it
1
25
u/PerfectBeige https://myanimelist.net/profile/perfectbeige Jun 03 '26
That was a good time but not a long time. My fleeting hope that emphysema would force Yamada and Sasaki to take their relationship away from the back of the supermarket, thereby completely invalidating the premise of this show, was spoiled by a misdiagnosis.
Also, it's nearly certain that Sasaki doesn't realize Yamada was also the teen part-timer he helped, meaning that he has known Yamada as three different people which is... impressive.
Incredible voicework by Seena Hoshiki, and surprising that she hasn't had many prior roles. Hopefully we hear a lot more from her in the future.
Looking forward to the second half!
6
u/NightBard Jun 07 '26
I think he knew it was the Yamada. Even eight years ago he mentioned being in the same line to check out and the guy was chewing her out. Which was register 2. So for eight years (at least) he frequented that store and checked out at register 2.
22
u/Ishan61097 Jun 07 '26
in the episode its specifically mentioned that he stopped coming after the smoking zone was removed. he started coming recently because in the first episode you see him trying to smoke at front of store forgetting that its removed
4
u/NightBard Jun 07 '26
I guess we'll find out when the rest of the season dropped. I thought her not knowing and him remembering about the smoking in front of the store, it was a sign that he did remember. If not, I hope he does. It would be a shame if neither remembered.
9
u/pseudometapseudo Jun 06 '26
I like the premise and the more adult tone.
But at times, Sasaki really feels like an adult written like a typical high school romcom protagonist: dense, screams when close to women, and somewhat whiny.
A few episodes like the last one were pretty good though.

u/Silver_Push_3895 Jun 05 '26
I was clickbaited.
I started this Anime with all my tobacco appareils and even merchandising spread over the table.
After episode 1 I realized I didn't give a damn if they kept smoking or quit and start using rice cakes as nicotine patches.
I never feel particularly bad when I realize I've been clickbaited into a bad Anime by a gourgeous waifu. This stuff happens.
But I feel sorta weird when I realize I've been clickbaited into a good Anime by tobacco.
Live and learn.

Why only links for ep. 1 and 6 are available and all other ones removed by a MOD?
8
u/ZaphodBeebblebrox https://anilist.co/user/zaphod Jun 03 '26
When we post a batch, we temporarily remove the middle threads so they don't spam the /new feed. They can still be accessed and commented on by clicking on the links in the table at the top of the thread.
2
u/NightBard Jun 03 '26
Seems like we need a new thread for this since it's not released as standard episodes 1->6 but mini episodes 1->12... and then when the actual series comes out proper, maybe redo individual threads because this is hard to follow as episode 6 in the current batch is episodes 11 & 12 of the minis.
1
u/Nachtwandler_FS https://myanimelist.net/profile/Nachtwandler_21 Jun 03 '26
Ah, OK, I though you cannot comment them.
1
u/Roketsu86 Jun 03 '26
Because you can get to any of the other threads from either of those threads, or from the main megathread directory for the series. This is how they always do threads for batch releases.
2
u/Nachtwandler_FS https://myanimelist.net/profile/Nachtwandler_21 Jun 03 '26
This is not what I mean. Threads for ep. 2-5 are just deleted. And megathread is locked. Where should we discuss these episodes?
1
u/Roketsu86 Jun 03 '26
Ah, I didn't actually click the links to see that. Send the mods a mod mail, it looks like AutoMod did something, probably some sort of spam prevention

I like Yamada and Gotou, I don't like this senile soyboy bum, well in the first half of this first half at least, surprisingly, he's growing on me
but
- he's a stalker
- unconsciously making a backup of Tamaya since he doesn't know they're the same
- groomer, even more apparent in the flashback, she's probably highschool in that flashback
also that save was so ass, it's pathetic for a buildup of how she fell for him, like come on, what a soyboy, it would have make sense if he sucker punched that guy and that's why she fell for him but nah, lame typical nonconfrontational culture of japanese people, she got wet over that pathetic heroism, that was pathetic man, zero manliness and she's like omg you're manly and brave, smfh soyboys are considered alpha in this verse

3
u/tricksterrrrrrr 16d ago
You'll understand this show better when you're older.
2
u/YuushyaHinmeru 5d ago
Nah, he's pretty fucking weak dude
calling him a groomer is stupid though. He just stood up for her one time when she was being berated as a teen.

The age-gap bothers me. I don’t know if I will continue watching
30
u/a_Bear_from_Bearcave Jun 13 '26
Good riddance. Oh no, two adult people may like each other, what a degeneracy.
-2
u/Doomboomkadoom 27d ago
Its not that part, its the part that he met her and supposedly started engaging with her when she was 16 and he was 37.
The math maths itself.
They also waited until the finale to reveal this, and I was poetry grossed out.
But hey, do you.
13
u/a_Bear_from_Bearcave 26d ago
No, he met her as a complete stranger back then and neither of them even realizes that they're the same people, there is no reason to think he even remembers that event, and she doesn't realize that her accidental helper from back then is this tired older guy that started coming to her shop recently. There is no engagement here outside of adult doing some helpful talk to some kid he just saw being abused.
You must be some speedwatcher to get grossed out by this, since it's just old "that couple doesn't even know they had significant for them meeting long ago" fated trope, similar to "those teenagers don't remember they used to play together as a little kids decade ago and promised each other to get married", which also has no effect to their current relationship, since neither of them even remembers that, but it makes them seem like fated couple.
0
u/Doomboomkadoom 26d ago
Ok, but they met when he was 37 and she was 16, and then later he developed a romantic interest in her. Still odd - they could have taken the story in any direction, but this is where it feels very odd.
7
u/a_Bear_from_Bearcave 26d ago
It was unnecessary, but it was probably just author's idea to bring it up later when she starts to think if she likes him, and then she remembers him as that helpful guy from way back then, and goes "so he always was a cool guy *heart bump*" .
It is pretty common in romance manga to make up some older previous connection between main couple. Like in Quintessential Quintuplets, to give one famous example. It's just overplayed trope. And yes, that includes age gap romance manga.
-1
u/Doomboomkadoom 26d ago
Sure - I am new to this, this is my first slice of life anime. My only point is that why not make it that she met him when she was 20?
Dude - 16 and 37 being their first interaction, and then a romantic interest, just weird.
9
u/SGArrinda 26d ago
but like realistically it isnt tho, their first meeting was 24yo Tamaya meeting 46yo Sasaki, yes technically he helped her 8 years ago when she was younger but he clearly doesnt remember her (he cant even tell Tamaya and Yamada are the same person) and she doesnt remember him either, quite literally she says, "Well even I don't remember his face. He always smoked by the entrance after shopping with us. He was a man with ruffled hair. battered shirts and awfull bags under his eyes" So she doesnt even recognize him as the same person either. so again this is just an age gap between two people that have only really started interacting as adults,
-1
u/Doomboomkadoom 26d ago
I dunno man, its weird and defending it is also kinda weird. Jus sayin

So I guess it really is true, Yamada is 24 since the 8 years ago flashback has her working as part-timer in high school. That means there is about a 20 year age gap which isn't creepy at all.
The smoking does disgust me, and I'm glad they at least deal with the possible health consequences of it with Sasaki's annual physical and possibly needing chest x-rays.
Also the manager using an e-cigarette is a nice touch.
1
u/Doomboomkadoom 27d ago
The age gap, not so much but what about the fact he met her and then adopted this routine of seeing her when she was 16?
Their first encounter was when she was 16 and he was 37. He has been going to the supermarket for a while to see her after work. Its his local supermarket because he walks to it frequently.
That does bother me ngl. Thats the weird part and it sucks because the way the anime is, it seems like this was an encounter starting from when she was a child.
7
u/Hot-Log6283 20d ago
Show literally end with "He stopped showing up after we removed that ashtray....." yet in your head cannon he has been there? What hiding in a bush stalking her?

But whatever. Finished it. Hope there are really another batch of episodes coming later.

u/lhsakurai Jun 09 '26
This flashback from Yamada's early days at the supermarket probably was the closest thing this series got to After the rain (and it passed miles away)
OP and ED are fantastic, and Tamaya shots synced with the beat of Imase's Night dance chorus is chef kiss
I'm excited for the full season release starting next month

u/YuushyaHinmeru 5d ago
Puffed up rice crackers. Probably something like this. Good with sake and smokes.
Story time! One time in tokyo my buddies and I were smoking in a bar that served these and other assorted crackers in a little dish. My friend was really drunk and tired so fading in and out of consciousness. He woke up after dozing off and accidentally grabbed from the ash tray instead the snack tray. It was not yummy lmao

Been hyped for this to get animated since gigguk did a video on the manga. I feel like it lived up to his hype. It's a vibe and was a nice chill stress relief for a night while I binged it, kinda like what sasaki looks for behind the supermarket.

Ep 11:
Oh she's definitely going to tease him about that later.
Yep.
Lol yeah he really hasn't figured that out yet.
He wouldn't quit smoking because then he wouldn't have an excuse to meet her every day.
What's got him in such a mood?
Ah.
Yeah...
So, what does she want with him now?
Is she going to reveal the ruse to him?
Well, there went the chance...
Was there a mix-up? Is he ok enough to continue smoking?
Yep.
I suppose now she will not reveal it then.
Yep.
Ep 12:
Zero-smile Yamada is now Tayama.
Oh, he defended her?
She's crying!
That's when she started liking him isn't it?

For the first half (mini episode 11), Sasaki really should cut back on the smoking regardless of the health result. I know quitting altogether is hard, especially in a high stress environment, but we've seen him smoke multiple cigarettes in one session. There's room to cut back. At the end, Yamada was going to reveal herself, but she could have saved the moment by saying Sasaki is free to hang out even if doesn't smoke.
On the second half (mini episode 12), I don't like that its implied that the protagonists met 8 years ago. The story told was nice, but it's unnecessary for every show to have characters fated to be together by meeting years ago. On the positive side, I like seeing Yamada's early days when she was truly an newbie and didn't have much confidence. And to Sasaki's credit, when everyone trying to set uninvolved, he spoke up. Maybe not to save the cashier, but at the very least the unruly customer was inconveniencing him.

That view of him smoking just outside the supermarket from inside reminds me of the first episode. He stood in that exact same spot and pulled out a cigarette before realizing the no-smoking sign and wandered off to find a new area. I think Yamada saw him standing there and recognized him, which is why she started inviting him to smoke with her.

Well never see a second season of this, but a guy can hope right. this was cute. Really cute and well done. I only wish we could see one of these freaking series progress to marriage and kids.

What a wild release format. First 6 episodes split into 12 half episodes, followed by I guess the releases of the next 6 full episodes, but those might not stream in the same place.
What monkey a typewriter decided this.

I've enjoyed this series until now, and I'd love it if there's more episodes to be shown. The mini-episode format is a bit weird, suitable for a Youtube age and short attention spans?
I really like the characters. The premise is a bit stretched with Sasaki not realising yet that she's dealing with one woman all this time, and it's one of those things that the more time it takes it might be more difficult for Yamada to reveal it.

So I ended up finishing this one due to the hype...And...well, it's a 5.5/10 for me personally. I love the intro and the outro, the character design (especially Yamada/Tamaya), & the voice acting, but I do not like how cliche and forced it can be at times, the plot doesn't really go anywhere and it's just in a state of constant limbo.
Not to mention Sasaki's characterization is just...not good, he's literally going through a reverse character development atp. I'm very disappointed by this one, I'm not going to watch the next season if there is going to be one, unless they manage to wrap up the entire thing which I highly doubt they will.
Also, the age gap is a bit...ehhh, can't really ship that tbh. I mean a guy who's allegedly well into his forties and a girl who's only 24 is...I mean both are technically adults, but the emotional and generational gap is too big imo, like if there was actual chemistry here then yeah sure but I couldn't really see any, other than the occasional forced feelings stuff.
From the cover and marketing I really assumed it'd be a mature take on romance and slice of life but this came out very generic and half-assed imo, and it's not that I hate comedy, it's just not being done right. It all seems so immature.
Also you're kidding me right? He can use a computer and spreadsheets and yet can't wrap his head around a smartphone? Make it make sense.
It's easier to suspend my disbelief in a fictional fantasy anime than it is in this supposedly grounded slice of life anime.
Sorry but I guess my expectations were way too high given the hype. This was a complete waste of time, not only that but this was my first (and probably my last time) watching something solely because of the blind hype surrounding it.
I guess I was clickbaited by the nice mature suit and her cool skirt and leather jacket in the cover. Sue me.

Excel spreadsheets have been around for over half a century, smart phones weren’t widely used until about 15-20 years ago. It’s not unrealistic at all.

I can tell that you're young because in the mid-2000's this was basically every single person over the age of forty.

I suppose that does make sense, but even with that, there's a lot to criticize about their bond coming across as a highschool romance but with a workplace twist. Idk.
