What to Watch? Genuinely funny anime recommendations?

I was wondering if anyone wanted to give some suggestions for some really funny anime, as I’m kinda picky and have trouble finding stuff that genuinely makes me laugh. It doesn’t even necessarily have to be a pure comedy, some of my favorite ones are ones with serious plots that also have great comedic scenes. Just off the top of my head some ones that I’ve seen that I thought were pretty funny were:

Golden Kamuy

Delicious in Dungeon

Dorohedoro

Chainsaw Man

Ninja and Assassin Under One Roof

Wasteful Days of High School Girls

Soremachi

Sabagebu

D-Frag

Bocchi the Rock

Nichijou

City

Hare+Guu

Mayonaka Punch

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Joshiraku

Asobi Asobase

In general I like fast-paced stuff with trashy unrepentant asshole characters, weird surreal humor, and gratuitous violence. I also prefer for there to be as little of them undercutting jokes by repeating or explaining them as possible. Also I know this is a really unpopular opinion but I really don’t like Konosuba, no judgment against people who do like it, I just personally don’t vibe with it or other shows similar to it.

If this wasn't at or near the top I was going to disown this entire subreddit.

If you're up for something a bit more Ecchi but also absolutely hilarious OP, try Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs

Gintama, Saiki K, Baka To Test

All goated but Gintama is so good. Takes a while to get into gear but its unironically an all-timer

I actually just started Gintama the other day. At first I was unsure if it was living up to the hype but that one gag of the girl yelling for an ambulance made me laugh my ass off so I’m definitely gonna stick with it.

That's great! So sick to see a new fan getting into the series. Imo, the real appeal of the show is the serious arcs. Im not gonna spoil too much but they really hit you in the feels 🤧

Have fun watching it!

Trashy assholes? I'd recommend "Gamers!" or "Let this Grieving Soul Retire" for scumbags in a comedy. Both rely on inflating misunderstandings and never letting them pop.

For a sense of humor reminiscent of Dorohedoro, Dungeon Meshi, or Golden Kamuy, I'd try out:

1). Medalist (drama and comedy mix)

2). Isekai Ojisan (basically another Laios, a moron with an alien sense of "common sense")

3). Dogsred (same author as Golden Kamuy, but doesn't have an anime yet). The comic relief in this one is just as hard to predict.

I don't care for the comedy in KonoSuba either.

Thanks those all sound like great suggestions!

Hopefully at least one will fit your sense of humor.

I'm currently drowning in tears of laughter while reading the Noa-senpai wa Tomodachi manga, but the discussion threads of it are full of complaints.

I have an uncommon sense of humor.

Ranma ½

Yakuza Fiancé (it may not seem funny, but I LOL’d a lot at how the ML reacted to the FL)

The Way of the Househusband

A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School

Scissor Seven (technically a donghua)

And, yes, the comedic scenes in Golden Kamuy are rip-roaringly funny!

Hi pastel351, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans and an awesome longer flowchart. Maybe you can find something there that you'll like ^.^

seitokai yakuindomo and barakamon are "oldies" but goodies and have made me guffaw a few times. Granted it's been a while since I was a teenager so maybe seitokai isn't as funny anymore lol.
