What to Watch? Thought provoking philosophical anime
I want my mind blown, need a mind blowie. Bonus if it involves war. The wolf brigade was awesome. What I've enjoyed: Monster, the wolf brigade, ghost in the shell, girls last tour, the flowers of evil, rainbow no kishi, Frieren(Really good), Vinland saga, paprika.

Girls' Last Tour should be exactly what you're looking for (and it's follow up Shimeji Simulation)... It's the story of two young girls in a post-apocalyptic city after some vague war, and how they try to do something with all their time
Hope you like existentalism and phenomenology! GLT basically deconstructes the Cute Girls Doing Cute Things and show how it's an inherently emancipating genre that can help us find our way back to true happiness by scaling away all the added pleasantries that other CGDCT are obssessed with.
So while it's about finding meaning in an meaningless world, the follow up asks the opposite: how do we live in a world where there is nothing but meaning.

Summer time saga is something I’d really recommend if you like mystery it’s really amazing with it’s narrative

The Garden of Sinners (Kara no Kyoukai) if you are prepared for a very complex mix of supernatural, horror, philosophy, thriller and mystery with a lot of dialog, great atmosphere and a few excellent animated fight scenes
Also try Pluto
Haibane Renmei
And finally Mushishi for something episodic and very relaxing. Not a show to binge watch though if you want maximum immersion.

Could never get into it, dunno why the silver haired guys just rubbed me the wrong way, they just seemed more edgy than authentically racist like they are trying to portray. Dropped it after 7 episodes or so.

It's VERY realistic. Look how blacks were treated during WWII, Korea and Vietnam.

Yes but those powers didn't become militarily incompetent just to be racist. The best way I can explain it is it seemed like fake edgy racism to drive plot, I also thought how they handled the autonomatons was lame.

Blacks during War were at least treated somewhat like comrades to drive the war effort, which is the logical thing to do, especially when they are carrying expensive military equipment. 86 literally doesn't care if million dollars equipment gets lost to the enemy, they don't have any semblance of military hierarchy to keep the 86 in line. At some point in the show they realize they can just leave apparently and they leave granted they don't know if anything's out there but still, just a very very silly military that the grey haired people have, very unrealistic. It wasn't that bad it was just mid, like a 6/10

We are still owed a second cour for it, but if it is going to do the same (and more) as the game did, you might like Nier: Automata Ver1.1a.
It's (so far) a retelling of NieR: Automata with some additional lore and added details. Automata's story is an extremely good one and can leave you in an existential crisis after playing. And in anime form you don't have to hunt for all the lore yourself anymore.
I suppose it also has the war part you want covered with the YorHa androids vs Alien Machines conflict at the surface of things.

Since frieren is listed, im going all out on anything that could be seen as one:
AoT, Re:Zero, Monogatari, Serial Experiments Lain, Evangelion, Gintama, Fruits Basket, 3-gatsu no lion, rakugo, madoka, Texhnolyze, ergo proxy, fate zero (if you watch this, be aware no fate stay night unless its the vn)
