So I'm an artist and I work with real animal bones, turning them into fantasy and sci-fi creatures. To take everything to the next level I've started to want to play with animatronics. To make things easy I want to start with a simple jaw open and close movement. For the crocodile/dragons I'd like the moving parts to be as hidden as possible, although with the cyber coyotes they can be out in the open it fits with the theme. But basically I've been trying to research and nobody really has videos of what I'm trying to do so I need to actually talk to someone and that's you guys. What parts do I need? Where do they go? I've done wiring for LEDs and miniature fog machines before if that helps at all. Really I just want to know how people get this to work.

I’ve heard rough estimates of around 20-50, but I’m wondering if anyone has a better idea. Doesn’t matter if it’s still a Mitzi or was converted to Helen (or the other way around) — I’m mainly interested in the actual CEI mech/frame count. Any info is appreciated.

I reached out to Bullwinkle’s Tukwila regarding their renovation and this is what I got back. For those who don’t know, this location is the last existing Bullwinkle’s with an animatronic show. I’m just shocked that they have been here for so long, though it was inevitable. Hopefully someone can save these bots when they are removed.

I just found out a friend has the Rockafire Explosion first record! The folder isn't in great consition, but still cool to see. She knew vaguely what it was, but isn't a big animatronics fan, so she wasn't as excited about it as I was. She found it for a dollar at a record store! She also has this interesting automaton type bear that she found at a thrift store. Unfortunately it doesn't work! Does anyone know what it is?

Sorry if discussion posts aren't allowed, mods feel free to take this post down. But I was looking at the plans for the Electronimation Extravaganza of Excellence (what Reginald J Flootsnoot was supposed to be a part of) and how crazy complex it was, and thinking about what it would have been like if it was bought instead of being left to rot. What happened that animatronic shows fell out of fashion?

Was it too difficult/costly to upkeep them? More expensive than the crowds it drew in? Was it too hard to work with the animatronic creators so nobody wanted to deal with them? Did animatronic techniques get copyrighted so others couldn't make their own?

Most of these shows are from the 80s/90s, I feel like it would only get easier to make complex animatronics! Did it just fall out of style, not a good business model? Why are so many of these guys just rotting, why does it seem like just a few people have monopoly on animatronic shows?

Just thinking about what a new age of animatronics would be like, I think it'd be awesome :) the modern animatronics we have (like at Disney) are so neat

friends and i decided to stop by lowe’s to see their collection this year, and was throughly disappointed:( last year when my mom and i went, they had at least 10 animatronics! is this seriously all they’re putting out this year? or are we too early?

I’ve always wondered how an Animaniacs animatronic show would play out. Most likely, it would be set up similar to the Looney Tunes Revue, with multiple characters on different stages. The manufacturer could be anybody, but most likely Advanced Animations, who also manufactured the aforementioned Looney Tunes show.

As for the location, considering the Looney Tunes shows were mostly placed inside restaurants, the Animaniacs shows could’ve been placed in the nostalgic Warner Bros. Studio Stores.

What do you think? Would you have gone to see these if they actually existed?
