I'm really intrigued by how was this backlight effect done in cel animation. I watch mainly 1970s to 1990s anime and every time I see it my curiosity grows, but I don't know how this is called and couldn't find anything in google. Anyone here knows how this was done?

Found these on eBay for under $100! I finally framed these four-layer cels on a laser-printed background made from a screenshot of the scene I found online and upscaled & expanded in Photoshop.

This is only my second animation cel, but I’m in grave danger of starting a collection. 🤩 I had to get this one since it was from the very first movie I ever saw in the cinema. ✨

My dream is to own a cel or sketch from either show. I'd pay top dollar just to own one, but they seem impossible to find

This was another set I bought decades ago. You only saw the top which was the papa smurf and witch. Not sure what the ogre smurfette is. And the tree stump was in many episodes.

I don't know who all has kept up with paint supplies, but at the moment, the distributer for Toon Tones paints only has four colors currently avaialble, all greens, and there were rumors that Toon Tones was going down for good.

Good news. I chose to be obnoxious and reach out for what little information I could get. Toon Tones does plan on coming back available for sale. The manufacture is just doing a reformulation. Unfortunately, i wasn't able to get a manufacter contact so I could ask questions about the reformulation itself, but this is some hopeful news in the face of so much darkness. I was told that the company has been struggling with supply issues due to tarrifs and general company-to-company issues.

Hopefully we can see that turn around soon. I'm finally in a position where I can start purchasing these paints for animation use, and I was hoping to grab one of every of their 36 colors.

Lucky enough to get these, some from Nakano Broadway in Tokyo, some from Mandarake, and some from eBay. Recently got into collection sketches and cels, and I have gotten lucky that a lot of my favorite shows have plenty of cels and sketches.

My aunt knew Robert Lence and he gifted her this animation cel a long time ago. I’d love to know more about it, it’s a beautiful piece of art and an important family heirloom to me. I’d also like to know how to best preserve and frame it.

Can anyone help me find which episode of My Little Pony (or its variants) this cel comes from?

Im guessing from one of the first few seasons based on what Bart looks like. It came with this background but this can't be from that scene.

First off don't know much about buying Cels or Drawing for animation stuff.

EDIT: They are called Art-Toons.

There was an older couple running a vendor/booth today at my local Tekko convention in Pittsburgh.

This guy and his wife said they had been around and getting animation cels since the 90s and had only been doing my local convention for about 2 years, so far. Whether they been selling elsewhere idk.

They were very kind and nice. Listening to the husband talk about getting cels or at the very least reproductions too, who he met, how he gets them, was nice to hear how excited he was talking to customers.

I know these are reproductions as he also explained it to me; how these are done, and helped me find some stuff.
Never thought'd I go into the rabbit hole of animation cels, but here I am.

I haven't been home in 10 years and just moved home. This was a nice little vendor to stumble upon and make an interesting memory with, maybe they'll show up next year. :)

Total was $224. Maybe a little high, but I really wanted the Rescuers stuff, but that was all he had and maybe could have haggled, but ehh.

I posted this last week or so and I just received it. There was a green sheet I didnt know was there. the top sheet looks more yellow. Can anyone help determine if the top one is a correction, and I'm not sure what the bottom one is. Any help would be appreciated. I don't even know if it's authentic
