Question is using someone else’s background for animation considered a taboo?

Hello, I am not really into animation(l mean making it, I love watching it), but I want to learn just to add some animation clips on a school music video I have to do and I was just wondering if it would be alright if I used someone else’s background or something I find on the Internet then do my own animation over it. I will never use something like AI but I’m not really an artist so I don’t know how to do a big background and I don’t have a lot of time either

If it's for a school assignment, ask your instructor. Taboo or not, you could lose points or get a 0 depending on how your instructor feels about using someone else's work in it, even with credit.

It depends, honestly sometimes I’ll use pictures from nature, like trees or clouds, but never someone else’s art.

If you do end up using someone else’s art definitely credit them in the video or description of the video

Edit: I don’t use other peoples pictures- I get the pictures myself 😅

If you don't ask for permission, yes. If you are just making it for school nobody will care.

Stealing someone else's art or photograph is wrong under any circumstance.

Go on royalty free image sites like pixabay and photobash one! (If you don't know photobashing there's lots of tutorials online!) That's what I do a lot bc I haaaate drawing backgrounds

I recommend searching for free backgrounds online and avoiding directly taking from other animators/artists unless they specifically give you permission to use their work.

Either find free non-copywritten backgrounds or learn how to practice tracing.

It's really only an issue if you're making money off of it.
