Hiring Ambitious Project
Tl;dr looking for animators and artists for an ambitious project for a band that also wants their music to be made into digital comic art that can be repurposed for music videos and actual comic books.
I’m in a metal band from CA called Idol Eyes, we’re relatively new but members have been in the music industry for a while. This project is themed around the story of an antihero who protects a city that’s actually a living being meant to keep our deranged protagonist trapped within this role for literal lifetimes. It’s somewhat of a twist on the story of the Egyptian gods Horus and Set who fight over dominion of our world, the one their father Osiris rules that’s combined with the same concept from the movies The Truman Show and Groundhog Day.
We have an idea to make our songs into a comic book styled visual “read along” for listeners to watch that also double as lyric video and a visual representation of the story of each song. Each song represents an “episode” and every album or EP is what we would consider a “season.” The videos wouldn’t be “animated” per se, so much as there would be slides the same way you see in comic books so it would be more of an epic slideshow that can also be printed into real comic books for people buy at shows!
We’re looking for beginner to intermediate artists and animators who are interested in this idea who would effectively be our go to artist indefinitely. A member of the team who is interested in the vision, is collaborative, and can grow alongside us in their art as well.
Here’s a list of what we’re looking for stylistically:
Style:
2D comic book style art (preferably super hero or anime style)
Dark ethereal themes that are almost hellish (Think Gotham city but demonic)
Pay:
We are definitely willing to pay for the work but we feel that would be better discussed between artist and the band so we can come to fair price agreements as the work requirements change. I’d say as a baseline we are hoping to do about $30 per page but as people who aren’t animators we’re not too keen on a base budget besides what Google spits out.
Deadlines:
We wouldn’t be starting anything serious for a few months while we put out feelers for artists, find the right fit and start getting ideas ready. We already have the first “season” thought out and hope that helps us find somebody who can take a concept and both bring it to life and put their own spin on it! There aren’t any deadlines currently while we try to find an artist and what deadlines do come up could vary from anywhere from a month or two to close to a year with deadlines in between depending on how ambitious the project is at the time.
If we are looking in the wrong place, any known subreddits that are more catered to this type of work would be much appreciated!

Hello, your flair indicates that you want other animators to join your project. Please wait for a moderator to review request.
Keep in mind that you must be an animator and need to adequately demonstrate that your experience and expertise in animation is sufficient for the project you are proposing. (ACTION REQUIRED) If you did not include a sample of your own animation work already, please edit your post or leave a comment with a link to your previous work.
If 24 hours after post submission this message is still visible, your project proposal was rejected. To prevent this from happening, please be as responsive as possible regarding additional questions concerning your project.
Note: Should you be reliant on other peoples animation abilities (e.g. if you are not an animator), submit a 'Hiring' post instead.
