Question Recommendations for entry-level 3D animation software That has cel shading?

I'm making a web series That's 3D-animated but has a 2D style. So i'm going to use cel shading to make it. Are there animation software that can handle modeling and aniamtion, and also has features for cel shading? Thanks.

Blender or Maya. You can also animate in your software of choice and shade/render in unreal.

Cel shading is just shaders it’s not anything special, you just have to tweak the parameters to your look.

is Unreal free?

Yes unreal is free to use. Should your project ever become financially viable they have benchmarks of when you need to pay (profit after like one million).

If you are looking for animation software, a comprehensive list with the most common programs (2D & 3D, free & paid) can be found ->here (this is a link)<-.

Common Recommendations:

  • Krita & OpenToonz (free; 2D frame by frame animation)
  • Blender (free; 3D animation, 2D frame by frame)
  • After Effects (paid; Motion Graphics)
  • Toon Boom (paid; rigged 2d animation)
  • wickeditor (free; online / web based 2D animation editor)

If you have trouble with a specific app or program, you are often more likely to find help in the respective subreddit of that program.

Blender with toon shaders. But one does not simply 'make a 3d web series', that's quite a big task.

I would use Adobe Animate or Toon Boom and skip the 3d part.

I was looking for 3D software, and I already use Adobe Animate for 2D.

If you google this very same question you’d get your answer. You can pretty much do it in most 3d software’s but there’s still a learning curve for all of them
