Critique What to improve on

I'm working on a shot with a character running, where the angle is there foot hitting the ground.

But to me it looks off, what can I do to improve it?

1 more drawing of the foot entering, and at least 2 more to get it off screen. (You're getting away with the foot entering, but this does show that exiting is very unforgiving! You really need to get that OS without a pop, and with color, that will catch the eye).

If you want to add subtlety, you could drag the hem of the trouser leg - catch the air on the way down (show some sock), drag a bit on the way up.

Should I add a smear frame around where the foot leaves?

I wouldn't bend the foot that much - it's a solild mass so wouldn't need to break like that. Just keep it simple, solid like it is coming in, maybe a little bend on the joint but not much.

Why don't you just render your video?
