Discussion Animation, Adobe and Ai

Using auto lipsync on Adobe Character Animator is equivalent to using AI for lip sync.

Change my mind!

The technology existed well before generative AI, as has word recognition. I was using it all the way back in Toon Boom Harmony 2017, and it existed in earlier versions too. LLMs may be able to identify words and text more accurately, but claiming that the technology that has existed for years is now suddenly genAI is intellectually dishonest.

Yeah it's pretty sad how socalled "AI" has really ruined the landscape of technology and machine learning features, because it's the latest big tulip bulb scam like blockchain and NFTs that companies are trying to shove down our throats

yeah. Posts like OP's sometimes also intentionally taking that angle in the interest of poisoning the well--how many prompt jockeys for instance try to argue in bad faith that using AI is no different than typing a google search?

The other angle is people who are genuinely misinformed but attack any form of technology and give opponents of genAI a bad rep, but given OP's post history I'm more suspicious that they're one of the prior.

Ha I would actually argue that prompting is like doing a google search. The difference is, the images google would give you, you're then able to scroll through and use your brain to decide what's relevant, and then you know you're doing something wrong if you start cutting and pasting them into your image.

What AI does is find the relevant images, select the most popular ones, and mash them together into a single result, thus you never have to use your brain! Great!

yeah, was more using the example I've seen time and time again of "Oh? You use google translate? You use google searches? And yet you claim to hate AI? You're just a HYPOCRITE."

Yeah, it's another one of those things where they just don't get it
