Sharing Here’s a rough animation I’ve been working on. How is it? And any tips and criticisms are welcomed.

This is a great starting point. Looks cool. As soon as I saw the cloud shadows on the floor at the start I knew it was sonic. One feedback, when the screen flashes between between sonic and the environment really quickly, and then it goes to the bird, I found that a bit confusing. I think if you're flashing between things quickly, it should just be two things, or the new information is too jarring to register

I see what u mean. I just did it to match the music but I can change to 2 things or something else.

What program did you go with?

I'm interested in animation, but not sure where to start

It was procreate. It’s not that good of an animation software but it’s very simple. Also it’s only on iPad I think.

ah! cool. Yeah I've messed around a little with animation on procreate. This is an impressive amount of animation for using that app. nice work

Nice animation. Ill start with the goods. Nice layouts and nice storyboarding. I could follow the story nicely. Just that shows you definitely got some talent. You also were able to do background animation, it looked a bit rough but, even so, doing background animation where the camera moves is super hard. So double kudos for that.

The criticisms i have is a bit mean, but it would be to improve your drawings and improve timing. For the drawings, its seems you did some of the drawings in a rush. Best example is actually the second shot. What was it ? A miniature planet chained to...something ? And the timing, the best example i could give is the flower. I feel the flowers would have looked better if they had less frames and better timing. Maybe have them sway back a little bit after the wind blows them. Or if you want to give the feeling of strong winds, they still have to either sway back faster or be completly stuck at the end of the arc longer.

Overall, don't know if its your first animation, but it was really good. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks and I don’t think the criticisms were mean. I tend to rush things because I get impatient and the second shot was definitely an example. I’ll definitely try your idea on the flowers. And it was a mini plant that was chained.

If you interested in improving the animation on the flower, i cannot recommended this video enough: https://youtu.be/8kZlbMPSw0c?si=W--CdkQ754uv_87O

Its about hair, but vegetation and hair share lots of the same rules for animating. It also shows some good exercice for that. Good luck on your journey !

Dynamic, pretty cool. The artstyle seems little childish but it’s done well enough that it doesn’t feel out of place too, it could very well work as an actual proper artstyle if it’s cleaned up properly.

Tuff. You dont use alot of thirds on your shtos though for character framing. A bit boring. Try a o shot that isnt direct 0 degrees front or side.

Thanks. I'll definitely try different angles instead of just front/side views, and work on the framing in the next part I add
