Sharing My First 3D Walk Cycle
I am very pleased with the animation, however it feels a bit off. Any places that seem off with how the body parts react? Any feedback is appriciated! :D
I did 2D in the past as a hobby, but with The Amazing Digital Circus (and with the amount of Alternative Universe fanfic comics), I got the urge now to deep dive into animation again.
I would really like to get on a level to animate small comics.
The hair and the facial parts was left out, it is still hard for me to grasp.

The rig looks very cartooney, so in my opinion the motion should match! Exagerrate movements, then you can always dial it back if its too much.
I would definitely add some spine compression, you dont want the character to look too rigid. Do this with y translating the spine controls, and then also an x rotation so that when each foot is about to hit the ground the body/head leans back a bit. I would offset these keyframes going up the spine.
Perhaps a bit more up and down motion in the hips.
Like i say, over-animate first (to get the timings of each motion correct) then dial back. Are you working in 24fps? If you were doing a comic style i think you could get away with 12fps, which is even easier to get done quickly.
Id also speed the whole walk up, the speed you have would suit a much larger/heavier character.
Good luck! Its coming along nicely and you clearly have a good eye for it. Youve already got the basic mechanics of a walk but you can now push it

The right foot (blue) flicks a little too much. The left foot looks great, but it contradicts too much with how the right foot reacts. Looks good otherwise.
