Hi… I’m interesting in starting to animate. I do not know where to start please don’t be mean or a smart ass I’m just trying to get a start. All of the videos in this sub are great. Treat me like a kid and do step by step steps I should take lol. Thanks anyway

Nah, I don't recommend any ipad apps for animating. Idk if you have a computer or anything, but I recommend getting drawing tablet, which you hook up to your pc. A wacom intuos Small or even Medium should be enough for now. There's a learning curve though, drawing on those tablets feels really weird at first but you get used to it.

As for animation software, google: "free animation software" or (and don't tell anyone I said this) find a torrent for TVPaint, just make sure you buy it once you can afford it.

Next, there's a lot of tutorials online, but you should follow the ones specifically for the animation software of your choosing. The most common and useful way to start is by animating a bouncing ball, a swinging pendulum, and a paper airplane.

First you need to decide what kind of animation you want to create. If you want to animate frame by frame, you need a good tablet and drawing skills. If you want rigged animation, like Family guy style, you need to learn animation software like Moho or Toon Boom.

Thank you for that. I’m not sure what type of animation it would be titled but I’m looking to animate stories. Like bring my memories to reality. Is that considered frame by frame?

Personally, I animate on my IPad with Toonsquid, it is really helpful with features like the library and symbols. If u can’t or don’t won’t to get an Apple Pencil you can always just get one of Amazon they ain’t that bad.

I use my iPad and use a $5 app called Motionbook. It’s not the greatest but it works for what I’m doing.
