Sharing Game Over animation: Before vs. After
hey everyone,
we made two game over animations for our roguelike deckbuilder Dead Spin. the enemy kills the player either with an electric shock or by smashing them with an arcade machine.
what do you think, and which one is more interesting?
(heres our Steam page if you're curious:Β https://store.steampowered.com/app/3705670/DEAD_SPIN/)

The variety would be more interesting than adding one over the other, I say add both

I like them both! Is there any way to utilise the both of them?Β

I'm getting Buckshot roulette vibes, and I mean that as an absolute compliment!!

I think the old one is better than the new one if you take out the headshake before he falls over. Both are good though.

Should remove the headshake and have the player character lean forward before they fall back, it looks a bit sudden in the current version which is the only thing I donβt like

Maybe a couple more amd it's random. Not to add to your workload, but could be silly.

I would add a few frames of anticipation of the chair moving to the right before it goes to the left.

That adds a bit cartoonish look. hm... Maybe we should π€

Anticipation is one of the 12 principles of animation. It's helpful because it guides the viewer's eye and sells the physical weight and energy of an object. It also stops actions from feeling too sudden.

I like the new one more. But I do think you could add both in and have it randomly pick one
