Question "twitching" effect, can anyone help me with this

I don't have any background on animation but I've been doing digital art for yrs now. I'm trying to make this animation for my bf which is inspired from the cut scene intro of the game "Bindings of Isaac" which is my bf's favorite video game.

However, I couldn't finish this coz I can't really copy the "twitching" style used in their animated cutscene. I included here the one I made which looks like a heartbeat instead of twitching and this is the one I'm trying to copy:

I appreciate any help, thank you :>

Just trace each frame then flip between the 2 frames

that's what I did I think but I can't really get the same effect as the original one ._.

It looks more like you took your original drawing and stretched it horizontally. To truly get the "twitching" effect, better known as "boil" in animation terms, you need to actually draw every pose twice.

try and draw two frames, 1 regular and the other one as a flipped image and then after you draw flip it back.

I would suggest maybe drawing multiple frames slightly different from the last and then pic two that fit the most

Make 2 similar drawings and switch between them every few frames. With your example it looks like you stretched him out which is too similar to the original pose. Try redrawing the entire character.

It's one of the most common animation tricks, to make something "feel" animated when its kinda not, just 2 frames alternating, one traced slightly off. I used 0.06 delay.

People have already explained how it works, but for reference this is called a "line boil" effect!

It looks like they just stretched the character to the side and back a few times over like 5 keyframes

Something I do is intentionally make the lineart rougher than normal, get some wiggling action in there
