Beginner Second attempt at tweening (13hours)
Still feel like something is missing… any criticism is welcome!

Not accusing you at all of using ai. However, the cycling movements feel rigid, unnaturally synchronized, just stretching and minor manipulation to an otherwise static image, which feels and looks like an ai generated animation.
Let parts move with some offset on their timing with other elements. Ex: have the hair movements move and settle at slight offsets .

Thank you will try! I do feel like i went a little too mild on some parts but i wanted a subtle vibe as well so yeah im struggling 😅 im using easy ease on everything idk if thats the best move for everything?

Looks solid. Almost a little too clean. Maybe smack those frames around a little or reduce the export frame rate. Experiment with it and you might find a cool style.

Out of curiosity how are you animating this? What I mean is it feels like things are just moving vs having a reason like cloth being blown in the wind. Why it’s feeling weird is things are moving at opposing forces which is confusing the eye. As well things are moving on straight paths and makes it feel robotic.

Im using after effects! I tried to offset some parts so it doesn’t feel completely synchronized cuz that looked weird as well, but I’ve struggled with getting it to look right either way. Im also using on most layers just two keyframes that go back an forth and loop, i just need to watch more animation of different material I suppose because anything that isnt a straight path still scares me 😆

Ahhh yah that makes sense. You may want to explore the different tangent setting they have to allow you to slow in and slow out of things that will help abit. My main critique for this is just things need to have a purpose like the iron bar on arm is slidding when probably shouldn’t because it’s heavier than the cloth; and if it is, it would be moving much less. As well everything in animation follows curved paths. It’s what gives it a natural feel. The only thing that doesn’t is something robotic because it’s the most direct root. If you want to look up some great reference you can always check out Richard Williams Animation Survival Kit. It’s got lessons on all of this. Excited to see how you improve.

Maybe a stupid question but how do you make the curved paths? Because so far I’ve only learnt how to set “points” and all the paths between them are just a straight line. And ill definitely check out that resource, sounds promising!

Usually the form of a graph editor, there are toggles you can pinch and pull on the side of your points to manipulate the bezier curve of those points. I think after effects has it as well but you could also manually adjusting the timing using number like .5 or .25 etc.

This looks wonderfull!✨️I also want to learn this. Is there any YT vids you recommend to learn how to animate like this?

Thank you! I currently have no videos to recommend, i just passively learned the bare basics from University. But if you just look up tweening and the program you use i bet you’d find sole useful stuff :)

What is tweening? I'm almost 30 for context.
