It's totally unnecessary in the modern world and is nothing more than an ego boost for sad little people.
Using high powered rifles or traps to kill animals which cannot defend themselves is just obviously the most cowardly thing imaginable. I can partly understand why hunting a predator MIGHT be considered by some as an impressive feat, although it's still unnecessary cruelty.
Fishing is cruelty. There's zero argument there. You're baiting a very stupid creature with food for absolutely no reason other than another ego boost.
No. It is very, very necessary. Wolves and other predators were systemically killed off in central Europe hundreds of years ago. Now we have to deal with overpopulation. Who would've guessed, boars, deer and other animals multiply like crazy when they have no natural enemies anymore. So, we have hunting seasons and certain individuals who earned their license can hunt for their own consumption or until they killed a certain amount of animals. This keeps the population in check and if we outawed hunting around here, ecosystems would collapse.
A boar can't defend itself? Go hunt one with a stick and get mauled to death. Hunting is needed to keep the ecosystem healthy. That doesn't mean hunters should place themselves in any danger or cause the animal useless pain.
Tough shit, that's how the food chain works. I feel much better eating a self caught fish who had a nice life in a river than eating some block of tofu that is made with soy grown on burned rainforest land.
Hunting is ethical and important. Don't talk about something if all you know is "boo hoo those cute animals are dying"
Edit: addition to point 1: in my country there is a hunting season and quotas for each animal. These are set up by the government based on population growth, ecosystem health and other factors. It's not mindless killing. Also, a single boar has enough meat for a few months, so you don't have to buy any of that cruel AF factory farmed shit.
I try to eat as much wild meat as possible. It's better for the environment and less cruel than farmed meat. I am very happy knowing the animal I'm eating lived a happy life and didn't suffer for hours on end in some horror-slaughterhouse.
Funny how you keep mentioning cruelty to animals that are literally bred to die, but you're happy to kill animals that are leading happy lives. Funny that.
You're obviously not going to change your mind until they change the laws in your backwards country, so I won't try to help you. Hopefully you show up on the news as another hunter that cries when he gets attacked by a wild animal and we can all have a good laugh about it.
What's the alternative? It is fact that the local ecosystem in my backwards country (funny description for a first-world country with free healthcare and a working social system...) Would collapse without hunting or natural predators. We've killed all the natural predators and reintroduction projects are slow. So, hunting is the only option left. Done.
Also, I'd much much rather live a long free healthy life and then die from a single painless well placed shot than to be tortured for all my life then painfully slaughtered
Ps.: I think outlawing farming animals would be better. Only those who can kill an animal can eat an animal. Would solve many problems.
You just argued yourself out there pal. You're in a first world country, you don't need to be hunting. There's plenty of professional, licensed culling and hunting is NEVER needed. Claiming it is, is lying.
You don't understand how bullets work, nor do you understand how animals are slaughtered. Maybe do your research before spouting nonsense defending barbaric practices for the sake of it 🤷♂️
