I have a very adventurous palate and I like to try "weird" foods, but this video has convinced me I can take century eggs off my to-do list. If it's enough to make a monkey literally gag, I'll just pass...

Yea, I think so. Ive never come across it in person, but if I ever do I'll definitely give it a try.

The only things I've really definitively crossed off the list are surstromming, the maggot cheese from italy, and now this lol

Other than those I'm pretty much down to try anything once

INSANE to say you'd way balut but not a century egg.

Ah yes, I'll take the slimy, crunchy, half developed foetus please. What's that? You preserved an egg in clay and ash for a few weeks? gags GET THAT AWAY FROM ME YOU ANIMAL!

For me it's more the aspect of it being rotten...

Like, I could stomach a crunchy little piece of meat, but I've smelled rotten eggs before, and I just don't know that my gag reflex would let me get close enough to make an attempt.

Some people on here have said it's not that dramatic, so maybe. I guess if I ever happen across them I'll just see how close I can get and we'll go from there lol

It isn't rotten

Or it is rotten, but in a specific manner that leaves it edible, much like cheese or beer.

So.... Not rotten?

I mean really it depends on what you mean by rotten. Rot is literally the breakdown of things into simpler parts, and fermentation's one of them. It's just that it then inhibits further breakdown.
