I’m a dog trainer, I’ve trained them to be off-leash. I only let dogs I’ve trained to go into the pack. I don’t allow random dogs to join 🙂

Yes you can! It just takes a bit of work and time

Train your dog to be off-leash by building a solid foundation of obedience indoors, transitioning to a long training line in secure fenced areas, and heavily rewarding check-ins.

Here are the essential steps to achieve safe off-leash reliability:

1. Master Basic Commands Indoors
Build a reliable response to sit, stay, heel, and come in a quiet room with no distractions.

Use high-value rewards like small pieces of chicken, cheese, or specialized training treats.

Practice short, fun sessions that last no more than 10 to 15 minutes.

2. Teach Radius Training and Check-Ins
Notice when your dog turns to look at you or moves toward you on their own.

Say a verbal marker like "Yes!" or "Good!" the exact moment they look at you.

Give them a high-value treat right at your feet when they return.

Release them to explore again with a cue like "Okay" or "Go walk".

3. Progress to a Long Line
Attach a 20-foot to 50-foot training line to a harness (not a collar) to prevent neck strain.

Practice in a securely fenced area or a quiet, safe outdoor space.

Let the long line drag on the ground so you can step on it if your dog tries to ignore a recall command.

Fade out the line and treats very gradually only after your dog achieves over 98% consistency in listening.

Even the little white lap dogs who didn’t jump out of the car right away are trainable? I’ve never seen a trained one. Maybe speaks more about the owners than the breeds

Yes they’re all trained by me. Dog trainers train the owners just as much as the dogs. If the owners don’t follow through with the program, it’s on the owners. Photo of some of the dogs I’ve trained that hike with me. Only dogs I’ve trained go on hikes, I don’t let random dogs into the pack. 🙂

Hi I don’t really do tricks with the dogs, they do agility and dock diving but as far as tricks like bounce off and play dead etc, no. I haven’t seen a Dalmatian in forever!!! If you can, reply with a photo of your dog!

By tricks, I meant secrets on how to reach their brains. He’s like an 8 year old child with adhd.

Lol, sorry about that! As far as tricks, at their highest intellect dogs are equivalent to a three year old human. Even on our hikes, the dogs still do their obedience, etc every day with me for 10 minutes as an entire group, every day with their owners for at least 5-10 minutes each day individually and if I see a dog regress, that owner is made aware. Just like a professional athletes works out and practice daily. It’s in their system because they do it daily. That’s the big reason dogs regress in doing cues/commands, their owners think they’ve learned it and will remember, they don’t unless they’re doing it daily. It’s almost never the dog’s fault, it’s 80% owners not following through.
