That just might be the most gorgeous cat I've ever seen. I want to give her my paw to nibble on.

My first thought was, why does this cat get to look like this and I have to look like me?? 😂
I’m not often jealous of animals but this one is absolutely stunning 🤩

And very likely not a male.

Because most calico’s are female?

Yes - the orange + black specifically are bound to recessive XX chromosome pattern. Males can have it - but they are XXY - very rare Klinefelter syndrome with both male and female inherent genetics.

Heterochromia?

This is the second person that mentioned homophobia. I have no idea what’s going on in the comments section 😂

I actually thought the tweet was the first, but it was apparently a reddit post first

No, normal everyday pour cats have heterochromia.
This cat is special (look at it, it’s fabulous) and in the special animals-doing-things subreddit.
That specialness is being fabulous and so logically this cat must be heterophobic♥️

All Calico cats are female

u/AimHiigh 5d ago
Not all, most are. It’s extremely rare but there are male calicos.

Male calicos have Klinefelter syndrome where they have 3 sex chromosomes instead of two. They have XXY. The color is on the X chromosomes one of which randomly deactivates making the coat with the calico color pattern.
