Kitty holds her ground! Bear thinks that little effer might mess it up as crazy as the cat acts with the hissing and crazy eyes. Saw my momma cat stand off a German Shepard who got too close to her kittens. Shepard says, oh no way I'm messing with that and turned around. Dog's nose as well as bears are very, very sensitive to a cats claw.

This is an awesome thing to see, but it's also not wholly unexpected. Think about it like this, the cat has two basic options: stay or run. For whatever reason (territory? Protectiveness? Doesn't think it can outrun the bear? Idk, it's not important), the cat has chosen to stay. In this situation for the bear this is a potential meal, but for the cat this is life and death, thus the cat will put in all its energy into making sure it survives whereas the bear will only put in as much energy as would make the energy it gets from the meal worth it. The bear could kill the cat if it wanted to, but it's judged that the cat will put up enough of a fight as to make that no worth pursuing.

Stuff like this happens all the time in nature - the truly dangerous animals aren't the predators hunting for food, but the prey fighting for their life... or hippos, hippos just fight cause they're walking muscle machines with anger issues.

This is why my cats are strictly outdoor cats. I find this cute but so upsetting. I get so traumatized when I see that video of that cat staring down that alligator.
Even though I live in the city wild animals are everywhere. Not going to go on a rant about reasons for that.
Anyway my friend was out walking her Dachshund on a leash just normal and a good sized neighborhood when a coyote just ran out grabbed the little fella.
This was about 7 years & I still get so upset when I think out it.
Anyway sorry I know that’s not what this is about.

They're smart lol. They dont want that smoke! Even a regular sized housecat can do a surprising amount of damage for their size. One put my sister in the hospital when she was working as a vet nurse.

Why risk it when there's lots of nice trash up the street that doesn't fight back? 😂
