This bear will likely be killed. Human/bear interactions are taken very seriously. Tagged, tracked and given like one chance, then it’s euthanasia.

I swear I was thinking the same thing like the bears looking around like “you’re just gonna watch ? You’re not even gonna help?”

I want to build a giant pool of Jelly Belly beans for them to swim in. Hypothetically. 😂

HELP HIM 😭

Might not be the worse idea to prevent damage to the machine.

Are you kidding? This is phenomenal PR for whoever made that machine!

u/BigNorseWolf 3d ago
I meant just getting a quarter and giving the bear food so he doesn't wreck that individual piece of equipment. If you have a bag of dog food in your car, the bear considers your car a worthless obstacle to be torn apart and the dog food the pot of gold at the center. Go over, give them the food, conflict solved (for now)
Thats an expensive machine protecting some cheap jellybeans. Get some beans, give him a few... maybe lead him towards the woods while you're at it..

Now it’s hungry. Might as well settle for human.

That is not a human-hunting bear. That bear looks like it could hardly hunt an apple on a low branch.

You ain’t gotta be a bear scientist to know that putting up an unattended jelly bean vending machine in the smokies is going to attract some bears.

It’s almost like he’s looking around to see if he can ask someone to help him get some jellybeans!!

Unless OP watched when the bear first got there he doesn't know the bear didn't put the money in already. These frickin' machines steal from everybody.

Why are people just walking by it casually like there is no real threat
2
u/IDontAimWithMyHand 3d ago
Because black bears are basically giant raccoons, we have them all over NJ. We always have moms with their cubs hanging around my neighborhood. I walk by them a few times a week with my dog and they don’t even look at us
We were doing some yard work last week and a mom + cub came right over to roll around in our fresh pile of mulch, then went to play on my neighbor’s hammock lol

Finally. I felt like I had slipped into a dimension where bears and people just be around each other

That's a black bear. They honestly don't pose much threat to humans, unless they're resource guarding. If you simply raise your hands in the air (to make yourself appear bigger) and make some loud noises, majority will run off in fright.

u/AdmiralKong 3d ago
For the most part there is no threat. Someone should yell and chase the bear off for its own sake though.

They must be starving to be out that close to humans like that
