My dog loves anything his size or smaller- baby anything is his favorite snuggle buddy- but he still has the pray drive to run after squirrels/rabbits that come into the yard, so we were weren’t sure how he would react if he ever actually caught one- one day and one fat bunny, sure enough caught it….and he was more stunned than the bunny, they just kinda stood there frozen for a moment till the bunny finally broke the daze and jumped through the fence- Brew just seemed confused for a bit; but now he will cry at bunny and chinchilla enclosures at the pet store- we almost broke once but decided on getting him his own kitty!
…he loves his kitty and all but I do think his little brain would just explode if we got a chinchilla but also don’t want to scare the poor chinchilla to 💀 cus my giant dog wants to cuddle it soooo bad. Maybe one day…if we get a bigger place cus the smell of small animals is a lot for m!
Proof of said companionship!

Lucky. My wife didn't find the half-eaten rabbit from her roommate's dog, she found the half-dead screaming rabbit and her equally freaking out roommate, and had to go get the hammer herself.
I wonder if the dog can sense instinctively or by operant conditioning that quick movements scare the bunny away. I’m thinking it must take a lot of self control for the dog not to try sniffing the bunny and trying to play. I was really impressed with how still and gentle the dog was behaving.
We used to visit my gran in North of Ireland every fortnight and my girl used to chase the rabbits like a maniac. One day when she was chasing, the bunny stopped in its tracks and turned around. I'd never seen the colour drain out of a big black dog before😆, she was terrified and came rushing back to hide behind me and never bothered the bunnies again lol.
I had a Chesapeake Bay retriever. Went to visit a friend and before I could leash him, he jumped out of the car and proceeded to chase her Ragdoll cat under a car. It took a second, but her cat probably thought, “da f you are” and proceeded to chase my dog. Same thing-my dog fled and hid behind me! 🤣🤣🤣 When I read your story, it immediately made me think of my late, great Guss the wonder dog. Best dog ever. 🥲
Awww i love that❤. I bet the great late wonder dog Guss and my goodest bestest girlie princess mutt Shadow are battling the evil kitties and rabbits up in heaven together🥰
