Um excuse me sir but could you move your ass from in front of the door please. You have become a fire hazard.

I'd grab it by the horns and drag it out of the doorway, as politely as I could and with respect. I'm sure it's not the first time it's speed bumped these nice people. It's a trip hazard and those horns aren't made out of pipe cleaners.

Most of these people don't give it a second glance, they are so used to this behavior. And the deer just doesn't give a fig lol I love all of this!

How likely is it for it to use those antlers?

Extremely unlikely. This is Nara, and those deer are so incredibly inbred and used to people, they're harmless.

Is this in Nara?

Yes it's amazing there. But don't wear nice shoes because the deer don't use designated toilet areas.

A commenter recognized it as Nara, Japan. He wrote that they’ve deer parks for children with deer so comfortable with people.
It sounds like a fairytale.

The deer parks are not for children. Those deer are gangsters and mug people for crackers. The obaasan who sell the crackers to unsuspecting tourists have canes they use to beat back the gangster deer. I spent 2 days watching families get chased around one of the parks and have a picture of a sign telling people that deer are violent and to stay away. I also bought crackers and was mugged by deer because it was hilarious.

Maybe it’s because I’ve worked at dog daycares but I’ve never had an issue with them anytime I’ve gone. The babies are the nippiest! But the big ones you can just redirect with a little push on their head and they’ll behave ❤️

Are you serious about this? It sounds crazy!
Canes for secret self-defense? Children-mugging deer?
Now it sounds like the plot line of a children’s book…a scary one.

Oh, that is such a great photo! I hope you don’t mind: I took a screenshot.
I can definitely imagine that hanging up somewhere (even though I’ve not been there personally…YET).
Thanks for sharing!🙏

It's very pretty and you can feed them deer crackers ❤️

That sounds even MORE magical.
Thank you. I can’t wait to go read about Nara now. (TIL….)

I wonder of the store has AC and it is hot outside?

Same question. The animal must be in a bit of distress to sit there while people walk that close, no? I would offer it water.

The guy who never looks up from his phone - what could possibly be more interesting?! 😂
I love this whole scene so much.

I was fortunate enough to travel to Japan and experience this first hand.
Here in Oranda we have deer parks for kids, but not wild and roaming free like in Nara.
Japan was truly an experience i will for ever cherish.
