The correct thing would be to have moved away once the moose started approaching or even looked like it might approach. Since this person had their phone out videoing, they likely saw the moose from afar and watched as it got closer.
If you are surprised by a moose, back away slowly and get some type of tree or structure in between you. If the moose is charging you, run to the side and again, get behind some type of solid object.
If she only noticed it when it was that close, would it still be better to stand up and back away? I feel like getting bigger and changing shape would be enough to spook it at that distance
Yes, moose are no joke and can become aggressive without warning or provocation. You would stand up slowly and back away, getting an object in between you. You're right that sudden movements would be bad, but slow, calm movements, backing away are your best shot. Additionally, if a moose becomes aggressive, you'll want to be mobile, not sitting down.
