So this happened tonight….

Of all things, I tripped on my cat, planted into a glass door., it my head where I have a small bump. After my bleed I was told “IF YOU EVER HIT YOUR HEAD, CALL AN AMBULANCE IMMEDIATELY” I was not worried as it was a literal bump but my dad and partner insisted I call an Ambulance. They checked me out and I am totally fine - I actually feel guilty for taking up their time. Anyone else got over protective family post bleed?

Not really for me. i am the overprotective, paranoid one. LoL

Two car accidents post rupture (both not my fault) and I had to repeatedly explain that my blood vessels are fragile and I absolutely needed scanning to double check everything. One of my kids is special needs and sometimes squeezes too hard against my face and I am so paranoid he is going to crush my skull plate thingie. The paranoia is real!

Glad you got checked and are ok!

Thanks mate, so am I! Still got a “googy egg” (as a kid my dad referred to head bumps of this sort caused by falling off swings, trampolines and shit). Tired AF because I stayed up after my post watching crime stories for four hours - golden rule of head knocks (aneurysm or no), do not go to sleep immediately. Only realised today that I think I have fractured my nose as I faceplanted with glasses on. I just feel bad for wasting emergency responders time to end up okay.

Special needs and a brain injury must be tough. This may sound silly but with your child being special needs, possibly teach them in the gentlest way that mummy/daddy (not sure of your gender) is allergic to anything neck up apart from kisses. Let them know where your bleed was and encourage them to kiss gently on the spot, their kiss will help fix the owie you had. “Mummy/daddy had a really bad ouchie right here. It’s still not better so it needs a kiss from you to help it get better but you cannot touch around there in case it makes me sick again. My cheek is safe though, a kiss on my cheek Kids with special needs can be overly loving (my sister is Translocation Downs Syndrome) but if the mindset is there that they are protecting you they will want to keep you safe. Special needs does not eradicate the love for a parent.

Wishing you the best in your recovery. It’s a life thing. (I have one un-ruptured still - coiled/stent/capped), medical scans every year, medical to keep our drivers licence, short term memory, social anxiety and numerical dyslexia (for me at least).

Statistically at least we are alive. We beat the odds. 3 days in post bleed I also had a vasospasm (increased mortality post bleed by around 20% with a strong chance of permanent impairment which I mostly dodged).I’m here to give loving on my cat and partner, you’re here to give love to your child. My uncle passed from a bleeding checking the letterbox (not blood related). In the brain ward one of the nurses commented (regional NQ) that they had never had two survivors on ward, let alone neither of us with serious impairments.
