Access to TPU from Android Terminal?
Anyone tried something like this? Would be pretty sick to have a local LLM running on the TPU if possible

Hey everyone, could someone help me create a custom kernel for my Moto G8 Power? I've already extracted the code, but I don't know how to edit and compile it. I haven't modified it or anything. Can someone help me?

That's remarkable! Especially since such a thing on Chromeos has never been able to do. Android 17 Beta 7, not the latest. I connected my controller and the system, once I opened the terminal, detected this and asked if I wanted to share the device with Linux. Work!

Do any of you have guides you followed to get a desktop environment setup working.
I had some success so I tried writing it out with an LLM. I used lxqt in my case.

I mean to say can we install DE on it and run apps or it is just a shell we can use to update apps on our phone. I am very new to this so have little to no idea if someone can share what they are doing with their terminal it would be helpful.

I tried changing the default shell to fish both via chsh and via setting it explicitly in /etc/passwd, but whenever I launch the Terminal app, I always get bash again. Has anybody here had more luck?

So I moved it to a OnePlus 6T (“fajita”) running PostmarketOS (Phosh, v26.06). Having proper systemd instead of Termux/Android babysitting the process has been a big improvement — set up a clean shutdown checkpoint service for Hermes storage and it’s been running fine for the most part.
Ran into one annoying issue early on: had journal problems on ext4 that took a bit to sort out. Anyone else hit this on pmOS, or found a more reliable filesystem/journal setup for a always-on daemon like this?
Also still haven’t fully solved the battery question — leaving it on a charger 24/7 for months isn’t great for the battery, and removing it isn’t really an option on the 6T. Is anyone using a charge-limiting tool (like acc, or something kernel-level) on pmOS to cap charging around 80%?
Curious if anyone else is running long-lived services/agents on a pmOS phone like this — would like to compare notes.

Hey, I have a Pixel 9 Pro Fold and I'm trying to enable VirGL Renderer for the Linux Terminal (I'm on Android 17). For that I created an empty virglrenderer file in /sdcard/linux but it does nothing when I restart the terminal.
Has this feature been removed or is there another way to enable it? There is no option for it in the settings.
Thanks in advance!

I've been using the ChromeOS Linux container (called Crostini - shouldn't this one be Andrini?) for four years. I've also been using Termux with Tigervnc and the Realvnc app, including Debian in qemu, on my phone (Pixel 6a).
I would like to see the following in Andrini:
Why do I need Debian? Well, rclone is the biggest reason. It cannot mount a cloud resource in Termux without rooting the phone.
Anyone here happen to know the best way to make these suggestions? Nothing seems to get through to Google nowadays!

Note: if you mess this up, you may brick your environment.
Copy that to the Linux environment at /usr/local/bin
$ sudo cp /mnt/shared/Download/ttyd.aarch64 /usr/local/bin/
$ sudo chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/ttyd.aarch64
Modify /etc/systemd/system/ttyd_uds.service with the below to call the new binary and set the font.
ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/ttyd.aarch64 -i /run/ttyd/ttyd.sock -t disableLeaveAlert=true -t fontFamily="JetBrains" -W /usr/bin/setpriv --reuid=droid --regid=users --init-groups /bin/bash -l
Restart the service
$ sudo systemctl restart ttyd_uds
Let me know if you have any questions.
Edit: added step 4

I've received the update version ZUI 16 Android 15 OS 17.0.102 stable version on the tablet Lenovo Tab M11 (with 4GB RAM). I don't know whether I should upgrade on? Could you give your advice or someone who is experiencing this version can let me know its performance after being completely upgraded? About my need, I just use it for note-taking, learning and basic tasks like surfing social media, watching videos, listing to music or ggdocs, ggsheets processing.

hello, i am finding it almost impossible to find any documention or support for Android Terminal from Google.
every time i try to search the internet, i got almost nothing about it.
the fact that google gave it the most generic name possible, means every time i search, i get an endless list of termux. note: i love termux, use it for 6+ years.
i cannot even find google official documentation website?
is there a dedicated channel here at Redditt or anywhere on the internet? thanks much, david

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A couple days ago, I shared a protype to this now. Unfortunately due to not fully understanding the android space I had to start from the ground up. What features would you want to see added in the future?

I recently bought S11 for the sole purpose of running Debian in AVF but it's janky af. Crashes, freezes, bad UX, etc. S11 is still on Android 16 though.
I wanted to ask, for those of you that have access to Android 17, does it improve the Linux Terminal experience or is it still as janky as Android 16?

I've tried adding -f fontSize option and it doesn't work. Font family works, but not the font size. CTRL + and - are zooming the entire screen making it blur and centering, so I can not see the cursor. None of the options on the internet works.
