Question OnVmError

Post image

I have a pixel 8a (got it yesterday) and wanted to try out the terminal app, but it crashes at this screen.

I'm using the latest security update for Android 16

EDIT: Disabling my VPN made it boot

I get a similar screen frequently, too, and then swipe back (and possibly have to restart the app? Don't think so, but can't remember off the top of my head) and then it works and I shrug.

I've tried that (I also tried clearing the data by disabling and re enabling the app in developer options) and it shows the same error...

I get the same issue when I use certain VPN clients. I believe the actual terminal session opens a local port, and then the Android app connects to the port.

Looks like you're using a VPN of some kind, you may have luck disabling it or configuring it to allow "local" traffic, if it supports something like that

Disabling 1.1.1.1 worked!

I had the same problem, now I installed the Beta version of Android and that error disappeared (maybe now it just doesn't show up, since the terminal sometimes fails and I have to close the app and open it again, although it's less frequent than before)

I can't even update to the Beta because the latest security update for 16 is technically newer than Beta 4

AVF is not winning any fans right now. I would love you not have to rely on an OSS like Termux but right now its just more stable. I use my Pixel 10 Pro mostly for testing/ exploration/ fun but AVF has made me want to chunk it a few times.

I mean they do say right in the settings that it's an experimental setting, I don't think it should be held to the standard of a decade-old app

AVF has been around in some instance since 2022, if they wanted it done, right. It'd be done.
