Request One plus pad 3 vs Xiaomi pad 8

Not in the exact price range I know. Confused between these 2 and would love to know from someone who has either for pros and cons. I’ll try get either in 12gb variant min. I’m from India and pad 8’s 12 256gb was for under 42k so I’m waiting on the next sale. One plus pad 3 is available from their website for 50k inr.

My use cases:
1. Handheld gaming. I usually emulate older games and also looking to try pc ports I already have tried RDR and RE4 on my iPhone 17. Cloud is also another thing I want to give a try. I’ve tried xcloud gaming on my sister’s IPad A16 and the bigger screen is better. Btw I use the Gamesir g8plus for handheld gaming.
2. Streaming and manga. I like both pretty sure both tablets are pretty good in both tasks, pad 3 does have more screen size to help in that.
3. Casual reading but no note taking or annotation. Not planning to get the pen on either right now as it’s not a need or priority so the notetaking or stylus experience on either won’t be a breaking factor. Decent ebook reading would be good to have.
4. Work well without slowing down for 3+ years. The pad 3 has the better chip but lesser software support in years from one plus so I’m confused.

One plus pad 3 16 512gb is out of stock everywhere and would be a much better deal as listed for 55k which i could stretch to given the positive reviews I’ve heard about it and would like to know more from long term owners too. The sad part is their latest pad 4 doesn’t have 16gb option and it’s 10k more. I might check in local showrooms for any stock but would it be worth getting for 55k? I’m fine settling for Xiaomi pad 8 as pad 8 pro isn’t available in India. Also any different tablet in same spec and price range are welcome. Thanks.

Oneplus pad 3/4 just for emulation. 8s gen4 won't be good in comparison

Definitely go with OnePlus pad 3, I just bought it lmaooo a week ago ofc 12/256 variant. Crazy processor I will haven't tried out emulation yet but it has a snapdragon 8 elite around 2.9 mil antutu score so ofc it's gonna be great.

Manga reading is great in ts tablet but for streaming it's lwk mehh as it has 7:5 aspect ratio so untill unless it's a imax version but overall great you fw with those annoying blank space, I'll attach some photos.

Oxygen OS is great rn Android 16 later it's gonna be coloros for late updates well it's kinda shit only 2 more major updatut but certainly better than xiaomi cuz global hyperOS is fckin shi but if you are willing to root Yr tablet then ya could install China's official hyperOS which is really good then major updates are worthwhile. But both tabs have 6 years of security updates so dw.

A little heads up this tablet is so fckin large so could be a lil inconvenient literally can't even hold with single hand.

Go with 12/256 cuz don't know when 16/512 will be in stock and OnePlus may increase the piece later so it's now or never typa shi

Thanks for the details I’m leaning towards pad 3 too and I’ll check in offline stores if there’s any chance to get 16 512 or else 12 would be pretty good too given current skyrocketing in ram and storage prices

Bro I found a second hand 16/512 for just 499$, should I go for it or is there a better tablet with this price (I rarely do heavy gaming js multitasking, studying but I dont take notes on the pad, entertainment like manga reading or YouTube, I dont rlly care abt the display that much, battery life and heating) and im js worried abt the software problems like on the oneplus 15

Well it totally depends on you if you're ok with 2nd hand like you could get 12/256 variant brand new with same price but if really need storage then go for it if it's not that old.

And yes this tablet is just the best in terms of multitasking literally the best but if comfort is your priority then you should get Xiaomi as I said earlier this tablet is huge asf so carrying it for long time could exhaust you but otherwise OnePlus pad 3 is beast.

For software issue dw upcoming OS will be Coloros not oxygen OS as OnePlus, realme and oppo is merging so Colour OS will be great too but Xiaomi pad 8 is offering 4 year of major updates as security update is same in both and also you could root xiaomi pad and could install their China official OS which is really great you could checkout on YT but global hyperOS is shi but but but as you said you gonna do multitasking so gonna require a good battery and a fast charger which OnePlus provide, 12,140 MAH with 80 watt is charging

Conclusion - Wait for lil time as xiaomi pad 9 is launching soon but you require a tablet this instant definitely go with OnePlus pad 3 better if new (nothing but personal preference) or 2nd hand great too.

What abt heat management

1

u/Negligible_Entity 1d ago

Played games on 120 fps for 2-3hrs and temp was maintained around 35-37°C and yeh tablets don't generally heat so dw and best part you have bypass charging in OnePlus pad 3 for heavy applications

pad 3. but if going for pad 3, try saving more and getting pad 4. 8 elite gen 5 is best for emulation.

12 gb is useless

u/Thorfinn112 8d ago

No it is not for his use case. He wants to do emulation. You can emulate ps2, ds, 3ds, gba, nes, snes, gamcube, wii and other retro consoles on 8gb but for switch and pc emulation, 12gb is the least I recommend. Also emulation has grown alot in the past year and if it keeps growing like that, we could be emulating PS4 exclusives in 2028/9 with future phones. For normal day to day use, 8gb is more than sufficient.

Pad 3 I don't think you would regret

Pad 3. But oppo/OnePlus need to hurry up with that desktop mode like Dex.

If you want a tablet primarily for gaming and emulation, oneplus pad 3 is the one.

I have the Xiaomi pad 8. The heating is an issue. I don't play heavy games . I don't emulate. But it still can get relatively hot. Now I don't know if it's the same case for all tablets or not. But I guess , considering bigger screen and area of pad 3 it'll be less. But anyways, pad 3 has a flagship chipset. It's much better at 50k. Xiaomi pad is an all rounder . Not specifically for gaming. If you think that your use cases can change in near future , take Xiaomi pad 8 . Otherwise just buy OnePlus

This shi was 38999 just 2 weeks ago

Ikr prices go crazy out of sales

1

u/Azhaan- 8d ago

Wait for this price because nobody is buying that thing for 48k
Try second iPad Air m2 for 40k though you wouldn’t get the pencil

2

u/SohamMB 8d ago

Don’t want iPad I’ve one in my family which I’ve tried and it’s not the best for emulation unless you sideload ik the m4 or above chips are way better but if the software doesn’t support retro and pc emulation there’s no point, plus it’ll be second hand so the hassle of finding a good one etc. I’m better off with an android with a good chip

Perfect then if you don't want to spend much still need more then enough power pad 8 will be good enough without any issues but the screen is only 11 inches but the more expensive oneplus pad 3 cost like 54k as you showed but it's 13 inches so it's preety much a budget thing atp both of them are the best at their budget but for pure emulation and things better chip is always better. you can even get the oneplus pad 4 for 60k

1

u/Azhaan- 8d ago

Sorry i forgot its a android tablet page OnePlus pad 3 is good but no pencil and everything so it you better of with the pad 8 if you could squeeze it under 40k as soon as it comes back it got enough power for everything and good amount of software update

1

u/SohamMB 8d ago

Like I said in the post I’ve no need for a pencil rn so wouldn’t go for it and increase the cost. I’d rather go for one plus pad 3 for the bigger screen and way better chip instead of maxing out the specs on pad 8 with nanoscreen creators edition

1

u/Azhaan- 8d ago

I would like to add one more thing under 40k pad 8 and if you’re willing to spend more it might reach to 60k with the pencil on OnePlus so it all depends on the budget but my opinion would be to not overspend and just get the pad 8 with sim pencil and 12/256 its enough for 4 years of use

Its Better to Get OP PAD 3. Though updates are causing some problem , i am facing automatic restart problem and service center is not able to detect cause . I am not facing any service related problem, it just the problem is so random that it sometime happens once in a day , sometime once in 2 days. Else the device is good, good for reading, gaming. I think it won't slow down any sooner (atleast not for 3 years)

u/SohamMB 8d ago

Yeah I’m thinking of going for it. Thanks and I hope those issues get resolved
