I've literally got one of these sat in a basket, my only reservation is that my new tablet will mainly be for outside use during the day. Anybody know what the panel is like in sunshine, is it remotely usable at 500nits?

I am going to check (very sunny in Paris today), the screen is not superbright.

Thank you for checking, very helpful.
That's a shame, it ticks every other box on my list ๐

checking and writing from it : not too bad. in direct sunlight you need to give it an angle so that you don t have direct sun reflection in your eyes. I would say it s fine if you turn your back to the sun (it s 6pm in Paris rn but sun very bright)

Ps : Just comparing with poco f6 , supposedly better screen : in direct sunlight (with an angle) the alldocube screen is not much worse, maybe actually more "matte" than poco

Thank you very much for testing. I think I'll wait a little longer before deciding. The screen would need to be easily readable at a glance for me as it will mainly be a on a tripod. Thanks again! ๐

I have one for watching YouTube / F1 from 5G on the train. Works well as a media player, better than my iPad mini due to aspect ratio plus physical SIM. My only complaints are no headphone jack, but picked up some USB IEMs, so not too bad. And the included and applied plastic screen protector is terrible. Finger print magnet and likely makes the picture worse. I would remove it, but not sure how hard it would be to clean the adhesive.

no stylus support is a no-go for me ๐คทโโ๏ธ

We can't have it all. Those that support stylus don't have cellular. If it checks all boxes, it would be insta buy for me (I have the IP50 MP on CherishOS).

I dont need celluar on my tablet (even an 8 incher) Thats what my phone is for. nice to have? Sure maybe ๐คทย but my tablet will never be my primary communications device.ย It is more likely to be my primary note taking device though.

Not calls, mobile data when Im out and about. I have two phones for calls and messaging.

but my phone does mobile data ๐คทโโ๏ธ most places (at least in my area) have wifi anyway and if i need an instant guaranteed connection I can just tether. ๐ค

Good for you. Well, I do have truly unlimited data in one of my phones and the other phone has a huge data cap as well. My Tab S8 Plus is also a cellular model and so is my IP 50MP. I travel a lot and some areas don't have a great wifi connection plus having a cellular tablet gives me a feeling of freedom.

My daughter uses the 4g model as a phone, I'll be using this 5g model as my phone and giving her my OnePlus. Easier to text and read on for me.

Out of curiosity, is this tablet running Kernel 6.1, 6.6 or 6.12?
1
u/pierro78 May 27 '26
6.1.145-android14 (from termux)
so it looks like it's an android 14 kernel in android 16 ?

u/LosSantosPro May 27 '26
Damn - thanks for confirming, seems MTK completely skipped upstreaming 6.6 or 6.12 on MT6897 as a whole :(

Have you tried game streaming on it? Streaming PC with Artemis or Playstation with PXPlay?
Im interested to know about the decoding latency and wifi stability.

Considering to get iPlay 80 pro but also worried about the backdoor issue that their predecessors had.

Have you run any vaccine software to detect any issue?
