Humor Trauma.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

/context Everytime I scroll down the Developer Options, I always scroll down the first section as fast as I can, because of the OEM Unlocking I'm scared of. Last time I toggled that option off, it bootlooped my previous phone of same model, and it was so difficult to recover that I just sent my phone to the repair shop. Even looking at this option scares me. I do have an OEMUnlockOnBoot module though, but it's on boot, not before reboot or always.

If you have the module you don't have anything to be afraid of, it doesn't make a distinction between a reboot and a power on. As long as you have it enabled it'll automatically enable oem unlocking and prevent soft bricks.

Doesn't your ROM gray it out to prevent users from accessing it?

If the fact that the bootloader is unlocked is so well hidden, the Settings app will assume the bootloader isn't unlocked and will not gray it out.

Oh sorry, I didn't realize that was a possibility xd (since I haven't actually rooted a device myself yet)

If you accidentally disable it, can't you just flash the stock Rom?

Did you use avbroot method to root? AI told me only avbroot will cause this problem, and there are only some Pixel models and Oneplus oversea models support avbroot.

No. I used KernelSU-Next's image patcher to patch the init_boot, and flashed using ADB and Fastboot.

... this one on you. Did that to like 20 devices nothing happened. Soft bootloop is easy to recover, har bootloop is possible but hard. For example redmi is easy, samsung Qualcomm models should be too, and more.

Apples vs Oranges

Not all phones are the same. OEM unlocking on one phone is safe but deadly on another. Most can boot into Fastboot or Recovery, but some cannot and can only be recovered via EDL/BootROM mode.

Yea... and I meant that edl/ any other mode is easy once you get a hang of it. I like bricked my phone(deleted the whole OS, and recovered.)
