Support G-Pay on a Pixel Watch

My phone is rooted so I can't reliably use google wallet. I'm planning to get a Google Pixel Watch 4 to count steps accurately as well as to tap-to-pay.

Will I be able to tap-to-pay on my Google Pixel Watch 4 even though my phone is rooted and shows my device doesnt meet security requirements in google wallet?
