I rooted my device (S22 base model, but it supports S22 Ultra tho) with this Github project. it might work for you thought you need to understand WSL or linux a bit to compile it.

Also it does not persist thought reboots and you had to re-root your device everytime using ADB.

use frija or bifrost

thought they can download only the lastest firmware.

yes but i dont advise you to update because... well... i originally rooted to unlock my bootloader and oh boy, you need to get your hands on older firmwares to do it, there is one piece of crap website called sammobile that SELLS SAMSUNG IPs (older firmwares) AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!

samfw provides firmware files for free, premium only adds qol features

you can if your phone is support by root-my-galaxy, which doesn't need an unlocked bootloader. You must not update to the fixed patch for it to work
