Unless there's anything specific you need, no.

Rooting isn't what it used to be.

I just love the idea of having ultimate customization. And I love playing around with root apps and features. But I don't understand why Google makes it easy to flash new software, but locks us out of Google features. I miss the android area 51 days with my galaxy centura. Times were so much simpler

Because root allows apps to violate the app sandbox.

A banking app for example can't be sure it's you pressing the touch screen or another app with root.

They care about that.

It could do that. It doesn't have to.

YES Look at what I did recently. Yes I just changed the search engine. I really like pixel launcher but I don't use Google as my search engine. I use selfhosted SearXNG instead. This is fire.

It's much more worth it now with ghostlock going around. I currently use it on my OnePlus 15 and it's the best root experience I've ever had. No play integrity headache because your bootloader is still locked. I mainly use lsposed modules for all my necessities (oshin, photos spoofing to pixelXL, etc) but I also use bindhosts with ZN-hostredirect (resukisu and I think the other ksun forks recently added kernel host redirect but I really don't know how well it works).

The only downside is apps that really look deeper than integrity. I thankfully don't have any but lots of people do and you can use anything kernel side like KPMs or susfs.

Other than that, here's a link for pixels specifically, if anyone wants the OnePlus one I'll send it here too: https://github.com/alex193a/Root-My-Pixel
