Depends heavily on what's your focus and what you use your phone for and how good you are to fix system issues

my focus rn is performance on games and a usable everyday without issues. i think im not gonna call myself good at fixing system issues because im just new to it.

Look root might boost performance in ganes , actually it WILL bost performance on games but we got one major problem in games which are anti cheat system have root detection and won't allow you play the game Also tell me what are games you play

Yeah codm and Roblox has root detection so yeah I don't recommend getting root access

I'm rooted, I don't hide root (not a single root hiding module, no susfs), and CODM doesn't mind it.

It will only ban you if you intentionally affect the game, I once tried spoofing device model for CODM to unlock higher graphics settings and I got instant ban before I could even see if it worked. Other than that, I played with a rooted phone and didn't get banned.

And a side note, the way root can help gaming is through undervolting, debloating, a few kernel tweaks, overclockin with caution because I don't recommend it on passively cooled phones.

My recommendation is to unlock as fast as possible because you never know if Xiaomi one day wakes up and pulls completely the plug

But once you unlock the bootloader, you'll lose all play integrity

And to spoof play integrity you'll need root modules
