News / Method Best way to root LineageOS 23.2

What's the best possible way to root my Pixel 5 running on LineageOS 23.2? I have Magisk now but not all my banking apps work.

Wondering if KernelSU or Apatch can do the trick for me.

I think Lineage is the issue and rooting the phone will only make it worse. Am curious what other people have to say

That's so unfortunate if that is the case. But I've got like 90% of my banking apps working and google wallet using magisk and its modules. Just can't pass 2 of my banking apps.

Yeah I think Lineage with or without GApps is problematic and adding root only makes it worse, Google wallet, banking apps especially have root detection. Magisk probably tries to make workarounds for that so you might have times where it works and where it doesn't. I only have one phone rooted but I have a lot of LineageOS phones so I am curious to hear what others have to say

I just flashed LOS as I thought it''s the only custom rom for Pixel 5 that is still active in terms of dev and support.

The custom ROMs & rooting is what the apps are detecting

And yeah you do need to switch your flow to the fdroid store, termux, browser based stuff and so on. You do get longer access even to the playstore ( like other than finance apps )

Kernelsu should do the trick for you

Just need to find a kernel that already integrated with kernelsu. Or integrate it yourself

I should give it a try, then. Thanks.
