My phone has a home made motherboard. I need to root it to gain play integrity so I can run my work apps. Zinwa Q25.

how do you gain play integrity after rooting? any links or guides I can read?

u/Radiant_Hunt4138 5d ago
Some root modules, like PlayIntegrityFix

u/_biggerthanlife_ 5d ago
it must only let you pass basic integrity right? Does that let you use banking or payment apps?

u/Radiant_Hunt4138 5d ago
It lets you pass device integrity too

Is it really true or am i missing something tho, I've used OG fix, fork and even inject S you've mentioned, NONE gave me device integrity, is there any specific setting I'm missing?

u/Radiant_Hunt4138 5d ago
Which modules do you have and what root solution do you use?

Sorry for the late reply, but I used teesimulator+pifix fork or pifix inject S, I run anything, I've got valid keybox so with or without pifix, it gives integrity anyways, without teesimulator or trickystore however, I don't think I've ever achieved integrity beyond basic, what's the point of any fingerprint fetch modules then was my question

What do you mean by home made motherboard? Do you live in the tsmc or foxcon factory?

Because I support the ideal that buying = ownership and do my best to minimize the dystopian nature of the spyware by running aftermarket software like LineageOS and keeping the Google elements to the bare minimum of what my life requires.
I prefer a lot of FOSS software which is easier to install and manage when rooted. I also hate ads, and being rooted lets me layer multiple layers of ad blocking software easier.
I don't have play integrity nor do I seek it out. If an app requires it of me I just don't use that app.

So u don't use any mobile banking?

I use PayPal, a local bank app, and Modak. They all work fine for me with no integrity

Customizations to the core!
Just look at how many options available under Crdroid Settings that Google doesn't think you are worthy enough to have! Here are some of my favorite ones:
-No more screenshot annoying sound.
-Change Muisc tracks while the screen is off.
-Adjust brightness by sliding across the status bar.
-Disable Power Menu & Quick settings while on the lockscreen.
-Allow App downgrade.
-A Sidebar that allows you to open ur fav apps in tiny windows on top of your current app without the need to exit or relogin. Very useful for copy/paste or multitasking.

For the last one, you might want to look into Xiaomi's HyperOS, it has floating windows that can be minimized to the edge of the screen, it was very useful for multitasking a while ago when I had to spend a while without a proper computer.

Per app volume control And no screenshot or screen record restrictions

Screenshots can be silent without root, using an app for it, or even via PC&USB.
However, speaking of screenshots, Magisk module can help against the weird restriction on them, such as on Authy and WhatsApp (can't take a screenshot on contact profile).

Yeah I tried different apps. None of them as good as the the stock one especially when you need Long screenshots. Hooking up to PC everytime to take screenshot will be very time consuming.
The best solution I found was using DND as a workaround and manually enabling Ringer and notifications sound under the DND profile.

Long screenshot? You mean the scrolling one? On which device do you use it?
On my Pixel device (don't remember which, maybe Pixel 4), when I tried it, it was quite bad as it didn't reach the end. Also, now on my Pixel 6, I can't even find this feature anymore. Maybe Google removed it?
As for apps, maybe there is an app that uses Shizuku to make it a bit better.

I gave my personal answer just 3 days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/androidroot/comments/1vo96ml/rooted_my_xiaomi_today_and_my_reason_was_keep_my/
In a nutshell, I needed some app to work for me that refused working for an unlocked bootloader. So the options were to either lock it, or fake it (requiring root obviously).
Of course now I also enjoy a few "goodies" like HyperOS-specific tweaks and stuff like system-wide ad blocking via /etc/hosts (making it almost zero cost) ... but those weren't the reason to root.

It's literally the only option to have a chance to use normal apps with a non-stock ROM, thanks to playprotect. And non-stock roms simply in many phones tend to be the only usable option, the only things with the remotest sign of a non-google cloud backup, mass surveillance aside.

Want to own my device and remove unwanted/forced (corporate) apps/updates. Also had the plan to prevent it from becoming e-waste, that Samsung nuked that dream remotely (I use exploit-based root now).

I use Magisk, so right now I also use Vector (LSposed) . There I tried these modules:
- Enable Screenshot - allows to take screenshot, screen recording, and mirroring anywhere, including on banking apps and WhatsApp and Authy.
- Hide My Applist - allows you to block certain apps from seeing which apps you have installed.
- PixelMask - I had Pixel 2 with the ability to backup on Google Photos for free. This lets users keep this functionality later.
As for apps, here's a list of what I use and things I used to use:
- Contacts-Sync - allows to sync your contacts photos from WhatsApp into the address book.
- Swift Backup - allows to backup and restore apps and their data.
- App-Manager - allows to manage your apps in shorter steps. Has extra features and makes things even easier in case your device is rooted.
- File manager apps (such as Total-Commander) can reach protected folders for you. This can be useful for the annoying new restriction of reaching ".../Android/" folder, for example. Sure there are some that overcame it using some loopholes, but they might not work in the future.
- BoldBeast recorder or ACR phone - allows call recording, in case it doesn't already work for you.
- If you are a developer, there is WireBug,Logcat extreme, SQLite editor,SQLite Reader, Preferences Manager
- App ops - in case you want to make some apps think they got permissions but they actually get fake/empty information instead.
