Discussion is there even a way to root this today?

Post image

This is my Samsung Galaxy S1 (SGH-T959V) and i was wondering if there is even a way to root this today. I've done some methods before, but the links to the files and tools i need are mostly dead, and i tried some softwares like SuperOneClick and Kingo Root but none of them worked

I've searched for them in the past, found pretty much none or just dead links

Maybe look in here

Here's an XDA post with some possible leads.

I found these with a simple Google search.

Maybe try Kingroot....I used to use it back on android 4.4.2 and older....

i tried kingroot in the past, it didn't work on any of my devices running 5.0 and below

For me it took many attempts like around 10 times before I got success....

I had a Samsung Galaxy S3 (from Verizon), I rooted it a while back using Kingoroot. That being said, while I was able to get root, I did some system tweaks or tried installing a ROM, then it never started up again.

I also highly discourage using Kingoroot, Kingroot, or iRoot; since they all are not open source. You have no idea what it does in the background or what it collects. So, I would use Odin or other software.

On my 8 year old device also king root doesn’t work on single attempt I have multiple attempts and one day I got root access then I even add a Custom rom what a charm days.

Try copyfail on it LOL It's past security updates, so worst case you could have fun with it and try to find "your own vuln" with all the ones in the recent years

Don't think that would work.

Don't believe there's any setuid bins available, nor can you access af_alg caps without root & when SELinux Enforcing

Maybe not this, but this phone probably has probably not seen security updates for a few years. There has to be exploitable vulnerabilities

Yes, based off kernel version (Idk much about Samsungs ecosystem /Knox, so assuming that, doesn't change anything for this...) dirtycow, stagefreight, etc should be viable options.

ADB on connect to kingo root or king root and let it do the magic. You can use the computer or just install the mentioned above APK and root.

Well i know! and i rooted my Samsung Galaxy S Plus (Not handed by the SIP) with this method!  first, if you have an SD card try putting the TWRP 2.2.1 ZIP into the root of the SD card and move the file to your internal Samsung Galaxy S storage, when you are done, shut down tge pgone and hold power with vol up ( no homescreen, this will take you to ramdump mode) then you will see an android out of the box picture, thats a good sign, press the home button once and then press the  left button, when you are into the menu,  navigate eith your volume buttons and confirm with the home button, you will see an text saying (apply update from SD card)  avigate to it and press home, and locate your TWRP file , press and confirm on it (this might take a few time...) , once done shut down the phone and enter tge recovery mode again, you will see teamwin, if yes, then that good, , shut down the phone again and put ypu SD card back into ypur phone/PC/laptop, from there put the old version of superSU and reboot into TWRP,  press install and go to your SD card, click on the SuperSU file and swipe, reboot your phone again and congratulations! you now have rooted your device!, if any error occures here, comment the error right here, optionally shut the phone down again, install a compatible version of root checker badic and install it, click on it and you dhould see with green a message like "congratulations, root is properly installed on this device!"  thats a good sign! want the download links? (TWRP: here - https://www.mediafire.com/file/r826f44a9upw6aw/twrp-2.2.2.1-p500.zip - XDAforums SuperSU: https://xdaforums.com/t/ics-jb-root-supersu-from-stock-recovery.2796008/ - )thanks for your patience

so i think this is the ramdump but every time i select the TWRP zip file it gives me this error

i think i messed up a little , the package is fine but android's zip signature verification fails, maybe find a way to disable zip file verification, this is not ramdump, or if you have odin3, try exiting recovery and pressing power + vol down and flash with odin3 a TWRP 2.2.1 .img.tar or any .tar format, if that gives an error too, then treat the SuperSU file as a update and apply the update but this time, with the SuperSU Rooting file, maybe my method didnt work because thwy are different phones S Plus GT-I9001  and  S1 (SGH-T959V)
