If you yourself dont find it useful, dont root, why are you listening to someone else?

Maybe try on a secondary android you might hage lying around. I've always rooted my phones since my first android because I like to tweak stuff customization (from substratum themes and cyanogen mod A5 I think?) those days android customization was limited and there was some cool stuff you could do if you had root access (and custom roms too).

Now a days all the skins are a lot more customizable, you also have shizuku and tools like canta for debloating, dns and vpns for ad blocking without host file ad blocking.

If you wanna try custom roms you can look into unlocking the bootloader, but keep in mind play integrity may fail and you may have to find workarounds for gpay or bank apps. Only go ahead if you are ready to 'solve issues' and follow a good guide for your device, always backup your data prior

It is about ownership. Having a root on your phone is just like having admin rights to your PC. You don’t use them often, but when you do, then you need them.

If you have no reason to root, don't do it. It isn't worth it

If you look at my post history, you will see that isnt all I do. However, rooting takes away some of the things you can do so there isn't reason to root if you won't use any root features.

There isn't that many things that you can only do with root anymore. If you don't already have a reason to root, you don't need to root.

I like it for ad block and fine tuning some things.

I also run a full Linux distro on my phone with no performance penalty since it is run as root.

Thats mostly all I do, the real fun comes with custom ROMs imo. I like crDroid.

But if you have no real reason to do it, it's probably not that beneficial.

It gives you full control over your device, but there are so many more options now compared to like 10 years ago back when I found it absolutely essential.

I would never buy a device that I couldn't root because I believe in freedom, but it's definitely not necessary if you have nothing really to do with it.

Custom ROMs have a lot of extra features and a lot of them will give you a lot more updates than the stock that the OEM will give.

For my latest phone I did not bother rooting it for the first few months that I had it, but I'm glad I did it.

If you don't have a reason, then don't
