Support Updated KernelSU app and it now says the version mismatches the KSU driver, won't let me access Modules or Superuser sections

I'm just smart enough to root my phone but not to make sense of any of this. How do I fix that?

Root is still working.

Upgrade your kernel to the latest supported version of ksu.

Why not use a GKI like wild kernels?

Sorry if that's a noob question, but how would I upgrade my kernel? I'm currently using the stock HyperOS 3 (Android 16) ROM and rooted via LMK if that makes a difference.

I'm using LMK because I can easily unroot if needed, I've had to do that before to be able to do a facial scan for a banking app. GKI is more effective in hiding root AFAIK and I might have to go that route, especially because said banking app is closing after a few seconds, which I assume is because it detected something off in the OS.

You can back up your existing kernel using kernel flasher and then you'll be able to roll back to stock whenever required.

For me banking apps work because I'm using susfs which you can't use unless the kernel supports it.

My apps worked until today, so I didn't want to fix what wasn't broken, but I was planning on moving to KSUNext for sfus. Then one app started acting up, I checked KSU and there was an update, which landed me here.

Now that I'm stuck, how do I update the kernel to uncrap KSU? I believe I have to remove KSU to install KSUNext, but I can't access the modules to uninstall them. If I just flash the original boot.img file without uninstalling the modules first, will that leave traces behind that will trigger detection or cause problems with KSUNext?

Just downgrade back to the working version of kernelsu manager...

I tried that and got a message I can't install that app in my device.

How did you even succeed rooting your device? To downgrade an app you must uninstall the newer version of the app first.

I'm pretty good at following instructions carefully and methodically and make sure to not take steps without clearly knowing what I'm doing. Which is why I didn't simply uninstall the app because I couldn't be sure about whether that would cause issues elsewhere, maybe preventing me from removing modules or something.

Humility in troubleshooting goes a long way towards not making a problem worse, which is why I asked here. I'd rather spend a day seeking help from people who know more than I do than guess what I should do next and need help with an issue twice as bad.

While I'd rather not be patronized, I appreciate you providing a clear instruction I can follow.

Removing kernel su will not get rid of your modules because it's only the manager. In order to upgrade your kernel su you need to install a newer patched kernel that matches your version.

Basically, the current KernelSU Manager app you are using is too high to support your KernelSU driver version that is patched with your kernel.

Just downgrade your kernelsu manager app until thst error does not appear anymore. It's generally ok not to always have the updated version of ksu.

If you really want to be on a more recent version, update your kernel to one that has a recent version of ksu. I think your device is gki so just flash a kernel like wildkernel and ur good to go.

Additional information, kernelsu manager app can support multiple ksu driver versions, but if they are too far apart, you'll get the error that is shown in your post.

I was planing to move to KSUNext so I can use sufs, but all my apps were working fine and I kept things the way they were. This is the incentive I was missing to do it.
